  1. HA!! I used to have a '53 GMC with a 4 speed granny. Straight 6. Used to pull my restored 1934 Garwood Woody around with it. Small world...
  2. OK, the brace group buy is just about put to bed, so the MAC group now has my interest. For those of you already on the list, I'll now need to start asking for Paypal's at paypal@cast-aways.com The amounts are posted in the first message of this thread, but to make things easy, here's the link. I'll also be sending out a blanket PM or Email to everyone on the list. I need to get 10 orders to qualify for the group discount, so we still need one more. As soon as we get a major portion of the payments in I'll go ahead and commit even if we don't have 10.
  3. Don. Since there are so many different applications and prices, can we get an idea of the percentage discount, and the number of orders needed to qualify for the group??
  4. You're gonna be stylin'.... The mufflers need extra washers to take up the space on the 86-93's. There are a few Mark II owners on the board that have mounted the MAC's. Maybe a couple of them could chime in with a hint or two. No problem with the indent not being there. Speaking of MAC mufflers, this years list is up to nine members the last time I checked. Now that the Brace Buy is over I'll be putting in the order the first of the week. We'll need 10 minium, but if we get more than 10, it better happen before monday. Once the order is placed it can't be added to unless we come up with another 10.
  5. Yeeesh!! I got tired of looking at it and had to use fast forward......
  6. Where's Prairiecoot??? I received a paypal payment from him way back when, and when I went to ship I couldn't find his shipping address inthe notice. I couldn't find one on the details page of Paypal either. He and Bongobob's are the last two, and Bob knows the reason for his holdup.... Everyone should have gotten shipping notices if I had your Email address by now. So this one's practically history. I had no idea we'd have that many 1stGens interested in the brace idea. Thanks to everyone for your participation, :clap2:but I don't think I'll be doing another one of these...very soon. :whistling: Just wanted to add that I do have about four braces left if anyone is interested???
  7. Sometimes you can get to some of the wiring connections, without removing the fairing, by removing the turn signals and going in thru the opening. I'd do some tugging on the wire and see if the connection can be traced by movement. If you can locate it tie something around it so it doesn't disappear while you have the thing unplugged. Another way to get behind the fairing is to pull the windshield and the dash cover which is held in by 2 screws that can be accessed thru the turn signal holes. Hope this helps a bit....
  8. Just wanted to add that when pushing the buttons you need to be patient. I think the CPU in the CLASS runs at about a 50Mhz speed... or slower.
  9. I'm also running a Nolan N100E flip. If there isn't a problem installing the system you can put me down for a set.... The stuff I have now is terrible....
  10. No problem. Although I don't see what the difference would be other than the extra $17 bucks thru Ebay. Paypal's paypal...... Either way, it's an excellent brace, and a good value.
  11. For a pump to pump that long that it starts to smoke, and them takes a while before it finally reaches pressure, the pump isn't getting an adiquate amount of gas. I refer back to my first suggestion. Somewhere between the tank and the pump you have a blockage. Your remark about it not starving...reserve that for a ride when fuel consuption goes up. These things could probably idle an hour on a cup fuel.
  12. The brace on Ebay is the same one we did the group buy on. I went ahead and picked up 4 more braces this morning to cover any problems that could arise, but now it looks like I didn't need to. Anyway PM me if you'd like to pick one up. And IMHO the brace we bought is much better looking than the SB, and it will do the same thing. I got tired of packing so went out and played with the '91 this morning. Put on one of the black braces. Looks really nice... I also want to repeat what Don said in a previous post. These braces are NOT Super Braces, and were never represented as such right from the get-go.
  13. Bob. Is the fork brace you have now a thick piece of aluminum, or one that is sorta rounded..sculptured acrossed the top. If it's rounded it's OEM, and if it's a flat 'slab' then you may have a super brace, and wouldn't need one of these braces. Attached is a pic of the braces side by side. The one on the left is OEM, and the one on the right is 'our' brace.
  14. That's Nor-Cal speak for San Luis Obispo, the sight of our Venture West IV.....
  15. Hmmm?? Do they have Pacifico Light up there.....
  16. Another quicky update. The first 3 batches of braces are in the hands of the post office. All the double orders and about half the US single orders are on their way.... Yea!! Whew!! I'll probably finish off the US orders today, and start working on the Canadian.... and German... .... orders this weekend.
  17. Just a thought. It still sounds like it's fuel related. After you let it sit it will fire and run. Start it again and it starts loosing R's and then dies. There's a fine mesh screen filter around the pitcock pickup inside the tank. It may be clogged, and only letting a small amount of fuel to get through it. After sitting for a while there's enough fuel seeping past to the fuel pump to get the bike running. After a bit the fuel pump runs out of gas, and the engine starts to idle rough and then dies. Then nothing. I'd drain the tank, dump in a can of Sea Foam, and about a quart of gas, and let it sit 24hrs. Add 2-3 more gallons to dilute the Sea Foam mix and then try to start. You can also toggle the run/stop and it will make the fuel pump run for 5 seconds or up to pressure. I'd also check your inline filter to see if it's clogged up. Again, just a thought.....
  18. Thanks BJ. I don't think there'll be any difference, but the USPS did toss me a curve this week and raise the US Flat Rate base by a few cents. I haven't looked at the new?? Canadian shipping rates yet... Gas prices are driving me nutz....
  19. Just a quick update. The braces are being packed this AM... Wed. What a PITA...
  20. You'll have a great time. Back in the early 90's my wife and I circumnavigated the entire US. We were planning on being gone 4 weeks, but ended up cutting it a couple of days short. Got tired.... We did take a bunch of pics tho. This was pre-digital and I burned up 2 bricks of slide film. The funny part about the trip was that I took probably 30 grand worth of hi-tech Nikon cameras and lenses. Used the Nikons for one roll of film on the flight line at Homestead AFB where my wifes brother was the CO. The rest of the film I ran thru a Leica Point-n-Shoot. Much easier to carry. I'd have gone nutz with a digital!! Have fun!!
  21. 'Bout time Don. Thanks for cleaning up the mess.....
  22. I don't think there's an equitable way to pick a winner, and have it tied into the 5000th member that would give enough varibles, other than picking the day, hour, and minute when #5000 joins. The one closest to the time wins. The state has been mentioned, but we only have 50 of them to spread around 4000 members. There's gonna be a tie. My 2¢
  23. I used the list on South Seattle Yamaha's website. Kinda tricky as the 83-85 part number is shown on the air filter page, and the 86-87 shows up on the radiator hose schematic... I don't think the parts engine is any different than any of the others available on yamaha websites??.....
  24. The parts schematics show two different part numbers. A longer breather pipe #90445-116-00 for the 1200's, and #47G-11166-00 for the shorter 86-93's with the 'T'. The dealer might have ordered the wrong year??
