  1. With all due respect Dan. Before rebuilding the clutch slave I also tried the lever thing, and it didn't work. I've also heard that pulling the lever in half way would do it, but I now know it can't either. When you pull the lever it pushes the piston and cup beyond the fluid expansion hole that would allow any air to get out of the lines. Unless there's another way for air to get out of the system I don't know about?? If you look at the pic below, when the lever is relaxed the cup lip sits between the larger fluid supply hole and the smaller hole on the left which lets hot expanded fluid out, and the clutch line volume to equalize. I don't know if that would be the correct terminology but it's the best I can do...old age thing....
  2. Yesterday a group of us did what turned out to be a marathon day ride. 350 miles thru Lake Tahoe and the California Sierras. I started Saturday at 0730hrs and finally parked the scoot at 2000hrs. I didn't have a chance to check mpg until tanking up in Tahoe. Between Tahoe and traveling some of the crookedest roads in the US.. I put on a lot of agressive riding...my chicken strips are gone.. Lots of 2nd,3rd, 4th gears. Rarely got into 5th. R's between 3K and 6K. I traveled 153 miles and used 2.8 gallons. 50+ MPG!! The only thing I can figure is it must be the something in the air. The last time I got 50+ was VWIII in Susanville and the Sierras. Most of the time running on the slab at 70 I average around 38-39. Go figure???
  3. BIG BROTHER......
  4. I forgot to warn everyone who has one of those Yamaha 'Super' Radios.... the braces are made out of Kryptonite....
  5. Sorry!!
  6. Mellow Yellow?? Whazat????
  7. What year 1stgen do you have?? I couldn't find any information in your CP file. And do you have cruise control or not?? '83's have more of a sleeve affair then the bigger round connector. To get the ends into the carb assembly the carbs need to be off the bike. Loosen the adjusters at the grip as much as you can, and hook the cable ends into the carb cams....then slip the cable into the end cups using the slot in the side. Re-adjust the cables. If you don't take the carbs off you'll drive yourself nuts.....

  10. Brad, what's the size of that nut?? I have four of them here, but not sure they're thesame size??? These are 29mm face to face on the outside and 20.9mm on the inside. I used to have wire loom for an '88..probably still do but can't find it...
  11. Yes it has been hot here squeeze. I picked up an Elmo Sonic a while back off Ebay. Elmo's are made in Germany so it must be a good one.... It's big enough to do one carb body without the side covers. Ran me somewhere around $200 bucks. Anything bigger, to do a complete bank, was way beyond my budget...
  12. I've thought about that myself. Maybe.... if you have a worn out side stand the bike will take a dump????? Or maybe... the psi won't be as accurate or repeatable with weight on the shocks. But.... the second gens don't have a center stand. Or maybe.... the added strain on the CLASS pump will do some damage?????
  13. Geeze, didn't I put a link to their website in a previous post???? Maybe not... I'm keeping it a secret...
  14. When I tried to respond to a PM this morning the banner pics were missing. The drop down menus still worked so maybe an administrator was tweaking the script a bit??
  15. Once it starts to be really successful the Mex Policia will interpret some law to squeeze more mordida out of the riders.
  16. Go with what you have.. They all will quite down a bit when the clutch lever is pulled in.
  17. No problem Kevin, glad to help. I think you're gonna like the results....
  18. On the left hand side of the motor between the stator cover and the middle gear cover there's a square rubber plug. Pull it up and walah!! There it is...
  19. Nothing, It keeps the air from getting sucked back in....
  20. OK, I get confoosed easily lately...
  21. Here's another type. Not sure what the manufacture is, but suspect VentureLine because most of the other stuff on the scoot is VL. \ Now that I look at it closer I think it's the same one....
  22. Uhmmm!! Looks like a good lookin' '83/'84 1stGen to me??
