Getting started early!! Puc's 2017 Christmas Story!!
Condor replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Have a Great Thanksgiving, AND a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Puc.. Need a link to Van's video. -
I used to load shot shell on a MEC 600 JR. back when I started shooting a lot of trap in the early 60's. Then I went to work for a major firearms manufacture and got spoiled. When ever I ran out of 12 ga trap loads they sent me another 10 cases of Federal papers. Federal didn't make guns and we didn't make ammo so it was a hand shake deal. That went on for over 7 years.... When I moved on that came to a halt, and so did the trap OCD... In later years I started collecting guns, and not only collecting them, but making sure I had ammo and reloading dies for each caliber. I try to keep the calibers to a minimum but it ain't working. So I have a stack of dies and ammo piling up. I've also picked up 3 RCBS Rock Chucker presses. The last one cost me 10 bucks and I had to rebuild it. Used is the only way to go. I've picked up a lot of stuff off Craigslist. I'll run an ad for what I'm in need of, and surprisingly it works. I even had one party send me a bunch of equipment...Free!! I sent them a check for what it was worth... :-) They said I didn't have to do that, and I said yes I did... I haven't started reloading centerfire ammo yet, but I know if the poop hits the paddle I'm ready...

ignition questions
Condor replied to mantree91's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This is way above my pay grade, but here's a stab at it just because. The RSV ignition does have a wasted spark, and I imagine it fires on the exhaust stroke at the same degree as the power stroke. There'll be a few others that will blow this theory apart, but that OK..... :-) I don't know nuttin'..... -
You might try looking at a horse trailer with living quarters. This one just sold at auction up in Redding CA. DIXIE STAR. The saddle racks could be removed and there's plenty of room to stow the scoot.... Pretty nice!!

v-max rear questions?
Condor replied to baylensman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
And if I can even remember?? I thought I'd read that FJR finals could also be used, but not so. However the gears can. Here's a link to a nice right up from someone who's been there. http://www.fjrowners.com/forums/9-fjr-technical/36418-final-drive-swap-6th-gear-solution.html -
Nice bike Rick... I can't imagine trying to back that rig of yours up with a trailer in tow.... How's the heat situation with that water cooled twin??

In the directions it sez to balance them first and then add the RO. Beads will drop to the lowest point in a parked tire but will move to balance it out quickly due to nothing holding them in place. With beads you don't get the puncher protection you would with RO. Which is the main reason for using the stuff. The fine tuning is an added benefit...
-
Here's another thought... Ride-On is not a total tire balancer, but a fine tuner. Not saying it's so, but anyone using RO to completely balance a tire is using it wrong, and I can see where a lot would be needed. The tire should be statically balanced first, and then the RO added. Now if a tire is out by a couple of ounces enough liquid would pool in one area and probably loose adhesion and drop to the low point in a tire that is sitting throwing it out of balance until centrifugal force balances it again. My 2¢ IMHO??
-
I never had that problem with Ride-On, but I only put it in the front tire. They say you need to ride up 5 miles after a treatment so I suppose it might be 'loose' and might settle when sitting for a long period. Maybe you have too much of the stuff in the tire?? Just a thought... I know they changed the formula a few years ago and I did use the original so there may be a difference in viscosity???

Yep the same cocktail I'm on... But, the hair hasn't come back....

I donno if anyone else has experienced this, or maybe it's just me. But... when doing a lotta long distance driving in a car the more pony's I had under the hood, the more rested I was when I got to where I was going. I used to drive on the road as a sales rep for a few different company's and whether it was mine or a company car I'd get stoved up at the end of the day with anything that had a mouse engine. However, I could drive from the house to Las Vegas... 9 hrs... in my Firebird GTA 5.7 TPI and not feel a thing after putting that many hours behind the wheel... I'd cruise at 80-85 mph and still had a ton left, and would get around 21 mpg. I find that riding that many hours on an RSV I'd feel bushed at the end of the day, and strained to maintain 70-75 mph, and the MPG dropped like a stone.. This Kawasaki thing might be the answer??? Can Kawi be smarter than YAMAMAMA...?? Sure looks like it..

I guess you gotta pay to play?? All I get is the black box and I ain't gonna pay someone to look at a pic. If you can find it on the web copy the image and post it... Works a lot better than the bucket... http://www.cast-aways.com/images/hear%20no%20evil.jpg

Man, and I thought I had health issues... Puc you make me feel good... I once read a book by a Chinese writter titled "Yalu River" by I.P.Freeli. What I have a problem with is 'leaking'... 'Specially when I pour water or fill the coffee pot in the morning.. Pavlov's Dog. Woof!! ... Keep smiling..

Yep...me too. So when the vision get's blurry, and the libido goes south... I go take a nap... :-) It seems like everything we take now days has more side effects than what we're taking them for.. Or... the cure is worse than the disease....

Your right about the age thing, and there are a lot of products on the market to keep the prostrate under control. Super Beta is one that been around for quite a while and it's an over the counter Herbal concoction. I used to hear about it a lot on those Sunday morning health infomercials before giving up on AM radio. You know the ones where they give away free bottles of whatever they're pedaling just for shipping charges... And everyone touts their's as being the answer to what ails you. If I took them all I'd live forever... Then they get you hooked and prices start rising. I've been taking Tamsulosin, which is a prescription drug made to reduce the size of the prostate. I have no idea what's in it, but it seems to work. Miss a day and things start slowing down. Take it and it's like a cow pissin' on a flat rock... :-) The cost isn't that bad either. The one thing all of us O.F.'s need to do is get checked out by a Doc to make sure the enlargement isn't caused by Cancer. A simple PSA blood test will let you know if things are getting out of control. This is the bullet that super beta dodges. Guys don't know if the reason is caused by old age...or something else... My 2¢ IMHO

I used to be a 3 pack a day man back in the late 80's when I was on the road selling. Quit cold turkey in '89, and the craving lasted about two years. I also beat my chest to a pulp the first couple of months. Every time I'd get on the freeway I'd reach for a cigarette and kick back. I musta stunk to high heaven when I walked into a customers store and didn't know it. So there's two habits. One's physical, like sucking your thumb, and the other is the nicotine addiction. That's why it's so damn hard to break the habit. Now if someone opens a pack of smokes within 25 feet I can smell it... And... I have absolutely no desire to even try to light up any longer. Cigarette smoke takes my breath away. Literally. I feel sorry for those who are still addicted. First thing they have to do after a meal is run outside for a smoke. They can't even wait until the bill is paid when dining out. I used to be like that. NO MAS!! Another thing... who in the 'H' can afford to smoke any longer. The last time I heard here in CA cigs are going for 5$-7$ bucks a pack. Lemme see?? 3 packs a day @ $5/pack = $15.00. 7 days a week = $105.00. 52 weeks a year = $5460. CARRUMBA!!

Even has a Hardley in it. Lots of gear head stuff. The trailer might make a great toy hauler?? https://norcalonlineauctions.com/auctions/redding-red-bluff-estate-sale-norcal-auctions~481/preview-of-up--coming-estate-auctions-~45693/ I'll update when they post the catalog later this week.

Mine was a 2-door hardtop. It was also sorta a wreck when I bought it... very cheap!! In my yoot I used to work in the data processing center for Allstate Ins Regional in Pasadena CA. One of the guys came in one day with his hand in bandages. Asked what happened and he sez while checking the coolant on his '56 Chevy, it was still under pressure, and the live steam scalded his hand. He had just gotten back from Tijuana after having the whole interior upholstered. Nice job. All black tuck and roll. The car had new paint. Pepper green. Anyway, about two weeks later he tells me that the car was side swiped while parked on the street and he was inside at a party. Couldn't even open the passenger door. And.... he was getting sick and tired of the whole thing and the first guy that came up with $100 bill could have it. I asked if my check was OK, he agreed, and wrote it out on the spot. The car looked great except for the POW!! It was in the passenger side rear quarter panal and a piece lipped over the edge of the door. I took it home a beat the crap out of the lip and free'd the door up and it worked fine. My wife drove that thing for about 3 years commuting to work. Then one night on the way home from Pasadena during the WATTS RIOTS it blew the lower radiator hose, and she was too scared to stop. When she pulled into the drive way it was Rice Crispy time. Snap, crackle, and pop..... I let it cool down over night, but the rings were fried and it never ran the same. I sold it to my barber when we moved to Northern Cal for a new job. Never did a thing to it while we owned it. I some times wonder if it ended up being fixed up and I might have even seen it selling at Barrett Jackson for around $50,000???

We didn't have the OD or 4.11's, but one thing I do remember is I didn't have to grab second before 70 mph. Never did make it into 3rd in the quarter.... On the spring issue Chevy made to cruise not race... Can't remember what set up my '56 2-dr had in the rear... Another one I wish I still had. 265/2 power glide. I have a few great stories about that one too....
-
Great remember when stories... Which reminds me... :-) My Dad bought Mom a brand new '59 Impala Convertible for her birthday. Being frugal he got it with a 283/2 and 3 on the tree. I took it out on a date and got into a street race on Huntington Blvd in Pasadena with another car. At the next stop light the engine developed a big time miss. I feigned ignorance when I got home and said it just started missing... So Dad took it back up to the dealer, and they under warantee ended up putting another motor in it. I suspect they stuff a 327 in her because my brother won quite a few trophy's at the Erwindale Drag strip with it.. They finally challenged him and he left and never went back. That thing hauled as$$... Wish I had it now with the prices they're bring at Barrett Jackson!!

Yeah what do I know.... I figured someone would chime in and correct my WAS.... :-) Thanks I do know coming off the line he's get air under the front end ... I think those kids in Sweden were impressed...
