  1. I don't see a huge amount of for sale signs going up. It's business as usual.
  2. I'd back off the right rear balance screw first, and see if the idle drops. If the RPM's start to drop it means your running off 3&4 at idle. Keep bringing the idle back up to 1000rpm with the #2 idle adjuster knob until the R's no longer drop when the right rear is backed off. Now check your vacuum on 1&2. Bet it comes up... I always back the right side (3&4) off before doing a sync. Makes syncing a lot easier starting from scratch.
  3. These things happen all the time Nick. Lots of things to learn just by hangin' out....
  4. THE SNAKE
  5. Randy, Could you have swapped out the drive shaft and got it to work??
  6. Congrats on the new2U scoot.... We need pics!!........
  7. Black on black on black in Pheonix in August... Ouch!! You may want to bring lots of sunscreen.... You might think about going up into Canada out of Seattle, east thru Banff and Calgary, and drop down into Montana thru Glacier. I had plans to do that this September but had to put it off until next year. Too many things on my plate... Have a great ride...
  8. I just took a look at the latest Harbor Freight sales flyer and noticed they have a front wheel chock on sale for $37.00 bucks. Just the ticket for my flat bed toy hauler... It's a Haul-Master brand... which might be the HF brand... and it looks pretty nice. I'm going to mosey over to HB and take a look at it face to face. If it's as nice as the pic I may just pick one up. I'm now using a couple of pieces of 2x4 screwed to the bed..... http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/gifs/clear.gif
  9. Follow up report. Well, I finally received the refund via paypal. I feel somewhat vindicatied. It's just sad that it had to come down to this to get results. It's also to bad that in the future I probably won't be bidding on any more of the sellers auctions. Initially the auctions ended on 6/7 and 6/8, and here it is 7/8 before the smoke clears.... Time to let this thread die.....
  10. Didn't mention any name for that reason....
  11. 11:20.... 90 degs.!! Whew!!!!!
  12. After sending a slightly hostile 'listen bucko' email this morning explaining the steps I was going to take, I just receive a 'so sorry' email back offering a refund or credit. I told him to send the refund payment to my paypal account. We'll see if it comes through..... It usually only takes a nano-second.
  13. Just talked with the VISA folks and are sending a form to fill out and return with a copy of the check...which I already have... and they'll do a charge back to his account. Too bad it had to come to this....
  14. Maybe they ramped up quality control in '85 to make sure the welds were done properly??? I've seen a few write ups about the repair, and putting gussets in there, and pics of newer models with the gusset already there. I'm too lazy to go outside and check. Did the '83/4's have gussets???
  15. I am having a problem with an Ebay seller, who is also a member of this board. I thought I'd vent a bit, and let folks know about what going on. About a month ago I picked up a couple of auctions from him, and sent the guy a check ,since he doesn't take paypal. I waited for about 3 weeks and then checked my checking account online, and saw that it hadn't cleared yet. So I contacted him asking about the check. He said he'd never received it, but I'd never received a notice from Ebay about it either. OK, so I go to his website and go ahead and send him a VISA payment. I also said I'd put a stop-pay on the original check. I drug my feet, and didn't do it right away. My bad. I received the items in about 3 days...great.., but when I went onliine with my bank to take care of the stop pay, bigger than all get out, there's the check taken out of my balance. Amazingly it was cashed about the same time the VISA payment had been made. So I email the seller about it. 4-5 times over 5 days. I called him on the phone...all I get is a busy signal...24/7. I think I'm being ignored as he's still currently posting items for sale on Ebay. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle getting my secong payment back, or even if I ever will. Filing bank fraud is one way, and contesting the VISA payment might be another, or I may have just been scammed. Loosing the money isn't going to kill me, but it sure pisses me off....
  16. It 9AM, 80 degs, and so much smoke in Nor-Cal you don't have to light up.... Yesterday it officially hit 103, but the surburban's temp gauge showed 108 up on the blvd. Today they're predicting 110!!. Nothing you can do but close up the house, turn on the A/C, and pray we don't have an electrical system melt down..... Ride in this stuff?? No way....
  17. Yeah, $50 bucks sounds like a lot for a sensor.... or maybe it's because I haven't bought one lately???
  18. Just like wine, steak, and cheese!! The finer things in life... Buddy you've been eating too many of those armadillo burgers......
  19. Thanks for the input Mike. I'll add it to the list later on today.
  20. There could be worse things in life. Have a good time in Alaska. The wife, kids, and I took the cruise in '06. Be prepared to see some awesome scenery.... We went on Celebrity out of Seattle. Kinda a stodgy boat but injoyable. Take lots of pics.....
  21. You might think about hanging it between the risers. Convient place to stash do-dads....
  22. Saw a bunch of those up in Idaho. Now I know the reason they pile dirt up along the sides......
  23. Alan, I think it must be your scoot. My '83 cancels after about 10 seconds....
  24. Got the TCI down Squeeze. I knew they changed it again after 1990, but couldn't remember which year. As far as the finals and shafts go, are they interchangable?? Not worried too much how they look. I personally don't think cosmetics on a part make all that much difference just as long as it'll work... Just like the carbs. Without getting technical with jetting, ect., other than the '83's they're all interchangable from 84-93. And actually you can take the '83s and put them on a '93. The only difference is the '83 has a vacuum bib coming off the #2 carb, and it would need to be capped off. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  25. Remember, when it comes to 1stGen info.... Always save everything...... :)Hope you can find it again and post it if you can....
