  1. I know the majority of the members live on the east coast, so send me a T-Shirt and take lots of pics. Unless it's somewhere closer I'll have to live it vicariously thru the group site. Not enough time to travel to and from a rally 2000+ miles away. Maybe we need to start talking about VWV for those folks out west.
  2. I'm not real positive when Venture West I in Bakersfield was held, because I didn't go, but I think it was in 2004. VWII in Death Valley was in 2005. VWIII in Susanville,Ca in 2006. Nothing in 2007 because of the International in Ft Collins, Co., and VWIV will be next month, Aug'2008 in San Luis Obispo Ca. I hope I got that right....
  3. Great info Rick. Tried to get on RaceTech's cruiser page and I think we've overwhelmed the server... I did find this info on Google. http://vmaxoutlaw.com/tech/cartridge_emulators.htm
  4. I'd look at least 10 feet.... A twelve footer will give you more room for do-dads, and there's not much difference in the pull.....
  5. Just a wild stab, but you might have loose steering head bearings...
  6. Yep, looks good Brad. Now go mow the lawn or buy a goat..... :rotf:
  7. You must be using the same snipper I use Gerald. Three free snipes per week keeps me under control. Any more and I'd get into real trouble.....
  8. I've heard of that too, even in diesel fuel.. I think the basic reason is the tranny fluid has a lot of detergents added and it keeps things cleaner. 3+1 might be a little too much and change the viscosity of the oil???. Added to diesel fuel doesn't matter.....
  9. It'd look a lot better with some chrome....
  10. I took early and still ante up into the SS system every year at tax time. About every two or three years they actually adjust my monthly up a notch because of it.....
  11. It may not be road grime. Over time the windows will get opaque as the plastic deteriorates and turns to the consistency of swiss cheese. I don't know of any way to replace them, but that doesn't mean they can't. I've just never heard of it being done. We discussed this in a thread a long time ago and thought that coating them with a clear topcoat type paint might help and reharden the surface. The opaqueness does go away if a light oil is applied to the window, but if you're thinking about painting them it might not be too good of an idea to try it out. Cleaning them from the inside is pretty near impossible as the inside of the window is covered with a metal disc with a slot in it. I had an after-thought. You might try clear nail polish???
  12. Don I believe your right on in keeping the club 'Venture' oriented. We can't be all things to all people. If we do change it will eventually dilute the common interest that draws and binds members in the first place. They come for help and stay for friendships. Folks will come and go as their rides and interests change, but many will stay because of the camaraderie that has been developed, and that's what it's all about anyway. My 2¢

    The Trailer

    They gave away a trailer!!!......????????????????????????????????
  14. IT'S OVER???? DANG, MIGHT AS WELL TURN AROUND A GO BACK HOME......
  15. Rick I hope this thread turns up some interesting dialog, but I gotta ask... Is that all the HP these 2ndGens are putting out?? I thought it was around 98hp. Or are they taking the 98 off the crank, and 72-75hp off the rear wheel.... Can't explain the reason for the difference between the 125 and the 115.
  16. There's a guy in Finland... 'hellslaus'.... who's buying everything NOS chrome, no matter how much he has to pay for it. But.... it might be worth what he paid for it... in 40 or 50 years...
  17. The price of the diaphrams ain't too bad either. I searched thru the carb kit section and found a kit for the V-Max, but nothing for the Venture... Dang!! What I have been doing lately is picking up carb sets off Ebay for cheap. I figure if there's one good diaphram in there I'll break even, and if there's two...WooHoo!! I know it's a gamble, but I picked up one set that was dirtier than all get out, and it had 4 new diaphrams. I must have 5 or 6 banks waiting in the wings, and that's enough. So that's why I'm posting about it....
  18. She's a beauty Scott. Screaming for a 4th of July Parade!!!
  19. I remember those days.... Those Stews were hot!!! Used to be a member of the United Million Mile Red Carpet Club and fell in love with as least one stew on every trip!!!!
  20. Wasn't there a thread about the weld breaking in the fork head and every time the steering head was adjusted, and after a period of time, they would loosen up again as the bottom flange moved??? Don't take this as gospel or common!!! Just something I seem to remember....or halucinated about??
  21. Yes in California if it's Amber. No if it's Red. If the guy slammed on the brakes just as it turned amber, it's probably shared negligence. If a light turns amber...we call 'm yellow out here...and you're close (50'-75'+) you should continue on thru the intersection based on your speed. On the other hand the law reads to follow the car in front of you at a safe stopping distance based on your speed. The bike didn't stop safely, and if the brakes were failing there sould have been some sort of an indication they were going. Tough Call...... Good luck.
