  1. A V-nosed trailer would actually be 4' less in length if it were built as a flat nosed. That's why they can build 'm for less. I went to an auction looking at a 22' v-nose for storage and it turned out to be an 18. The extra 4' coming from the V. A 6X12 V is actually built on a 6X8 frame.... To get one with the same payload...you'd get a little more because of the V extension.. you would need to buy something around a 6x14. Nothing is exact, but you get the picture... V-nose equals smaller frame...
  2. LOL....!!!!!! Around here we have no problem finding TP tubes with me being outnumbered by the gals 3-2, and the other guys a cat.... :rotf:
  3. Nothing better than 'midnight' Plasti-Dip... Just make sure it's the spray and not the liquid. Although the liquid may work for spotting the pin wholes.. I donno..never tried it?? I dug out a old diaphragm assembly last night, and maybe sometime today I'll take a few pics of what I ended up doing. The rubber on this one actually has a small tear so it's going to be sorta an experiment to see just how big of a hole this PD stuff will seal...
  4. The back rest is a VentureLIne for an 86-93, and is incomplete. It's missing the uprights. I wrote and told the guy this, but he responded that it is complete. Clueless is right. It's a bicycle shop in Billings Mt. That back rest from Utopia looks like it might be a winer. I actually like it better that the VentureLine...
  5. I agree JT, but wait a bit, and I'll put together a 'how to' on refinishing diaphragm pin holes with Plasti-Dip. It's a rubberized spray from Home Depot, and I've had some good results using the stuff. For instance. Did you know that the cardboard tubes inside toilet paper rolls fit perfectly over the nylon retaining rings holding the diaphragm rubber, and the plastic slide can be covered with a sheet of wraped printer paper so the spray won't get on it.... A thin coat of PD on both sides makes the rubber look like new. Gotta take pics...
  6. Yeah, 'our' tab looks more like a finger nail clipping. The one on Ebay was narrower and taller. Another thing I later thought about is the thickness of the rubber itself. The stuff in our diaphragms is a fairly thin material, and those looked like they might be a bit thicker. I could be wrong, but thicker rubber might make for a slower response time??
  7. I had one do that and used 3M 5200 on it, but I'd imagine LockTite would do a pretty good job??
  8. It's my understanding you don't mix radials with bias plys...
  9. Brad, I think he's talking about the Right Front fork leaking. I don't think they have a right rear....
  10. Nice Job!!!!!!!
  11. Hey, I have a re-verb unit in mine. Goes 'boing' every time I hit a bump....
  12. Yeah you did Dan. Sharp eyes. Made me go back and look and start asking questions when the next set popped up. I just felt I didn't want any of our guys getting stuck paying big bucks for those things. I like to save as much as the next guy, but I think a few folks didn't know what they were getting into when they bid...
  13. Here's a copy of what i just sent to Tim. I haven't gotten any reply from them on a ship date. It's been two months since the order was placed, and I have called just to find out progress, but the production foreman and the office don't communicate that much. If I remember correctly the last order took about 3 months to build. I was going to call today but got sidetracked.
  14. I think on a 2ndGen you have to remove a few things in order to get to the plugs. It's a little hard to get to the 1stGens also, but I can get that tool bag socket down on the plug and one of those flat box end wrenches on the top of it. Generally after getting it loose by half a turn it can be removed with finger power.
  15. Somebody loaded my smiles box with a ton of extra grins....
  16. It may be opitical, but to me the Kawi looks like it has a little more rake than normal... Did I win...huh?huh?
  17. I was just going to post to find out if that fuel pump high pressure problem was under control... Guess it is. Have a great time...
  18. I contacted the seller of the diapragms on Ebay questioning him about the application of them on the 1stGens as stated in his title. I don't know if anyone has tried to seperate the rubber from the slide, but I find it nearly impossible. This is a copy of our discussion. I'd be very carefull if any of you were thinking about bidding on this auction. Are you sure these will fit a XVZ12 XVZ13 VENTURE ROYAL The reason I ask is that, unlike other daiphragms, it's almost impossible to split the rings without damaging them, and the alignment tab on the edge shown in the pic will not fit the recess on the carb body. Comment?? Thanks Hi, well, Herman in the Netherlands, ebay ID storm-h( 72) was my first customer, he had installed these in two bikes, we worked togheter a long time trying to find out if these diaphragm will fit that bike. You may contact Herman for feedback. Regarding the tab you can just cut it off. Hope this helps. Any doubt contact me. Rob Well, that may take care of the tab issue, but I still can see a potential for a developing an air leak as long as the indent remains empty. What it doesn't address is how your friend Herman split the flanges to replace the older membrain as the rings are a press fit, very fragile, and very difficult to seperate with out breaking. If you're lucky you may seperate one out of the four successfully. That's why replacement diaphragms are sold already installed on their plastic slide. Unless you plan on backing up your claim, you may want to post a disclaimer to your application claim, or guarantee they will work, which I know they won't. How do I know that? I've owned a lot of Ventures over the years, and rebuilt a few Venture carb sets during that period. Just a word of advise. I'd suggest rewording your auction title and discription. First I need to thank you for your time and help in this matter, I need to say that I am a honest seller, I has been contacted by a Venture specialist from the Netherlands really interested in these diaphragm after Herman's purchase so at this point after your email I am really confused and unfortunately really ignorant in this matter. Please advise on how I should rewording my auction according your experience in this matter. I don't want to deceive people if these parts will not work and obviouslly I will refund money but at this time I am thinking in cancelling this auction....sincerely. Rob Hi Rob. Perhaps the expert friend in the Netherlands could supply you with pictures of a Venture diaphragm membrain being replaced, like those you've posted in the auction using another diaphragm type?? Perhaps he knows something we don't?? Until then, I'd relist just for the bike the membrain was designed to fit. If you don't absolutely know what it fits then more research is in order. I know it was not designed to fit a Venture when the tab has to be removed. Thanks, I am concerned about al that so just cancelled auction until I can make sure what I am selling, thanks again for your help. Sincerely. rob. Probably best all the way around Rob. Good luck. Thanks Jack, I appreciate your comments, awaiting response to them from my experts in the Netherlands. Rob Jack A LITLE UPDATE I just received an E-mail from Rob the seller and he sent me the response from his friend Herman. Personally I've never had any success removing the diaphragm rubbers as discribed. Maybe it can be done?? Anyone here ever tried it? Goodmorning Rob. I can only tell you about my own expierience with changing the diaphragms. All four came off pretty easily with a bit of twisting and pulling ( they were busted so there was no need to keep then in one piece ) . This means that you don't have to split the carb, slides and after a bit of lubrication you can install the new diaphragms, with care ofcourse and that's it. I think that it all depends on the skills and the patience of the person installing these diaphragms, nomatter what kind of bike you have. So I think that maybe you should mention a certain amount of mechanical skill or background is needed to make this a succesfull operation. I hope this provides you with enough information. Take care. Herman
  19. If you're on the east side you can't BBQ...you just think you can....
  20. Great idea. Now if we could only get them to add a little info to the history page?? We could start refering to the Ventures as a 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, or Tutu.....
  21. Anything east of the Mississippi ain't BBQ.
  22. I think the biggest drawback to CB's is that they don't do the vent option. Otherwise I've heard nothing but good about their quality.
