  2. Missed that one. I guess that takes care of the questions....
  3. Try here. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258
  4. Sorry for the non-replies Tim. It's just that the subject has been hashed and rehashed over and over on this board. There is a how-to for the second generation in the tech section for the 2ndGens and it can be applied to the 1stGen's as well, and there's also a good discription on the sequence in the manuals section for the 1stGens. For generic what it does, and how-to instructions, there's good reading on http://www.carbtune.com/. If you do a search on this board for all threads on carb sync's, and you read them all, you should be an expert by the time you're through....
  5. Geeze JB. You and Murphy must be on a first name basis by now..... I got wore out just reading your post..
  6. Prayers for a quick recovery have been sent. I am curious about the crash details. What make or type trailer was Bob pulling, and when he started to fall back was he already having problems controlling the bike?? When a trailer doesn't have enough tongue weight it will start to sway from side to side. I'd like to learn more when Bob is back up and on his feet. Maybe we can all learn something about what not to do...
  7. Nope, the side stand can be down. Even knowing all the tricks, there are times when even I can't even get one up on the center stand using conventional methods, and I'm not a flea weight. The problem is that when the pressure is low enough, or gone in the front forks and rear shock, the bike sits so low that there's barely enough room to get a toe in on the center stand pad, and standing on it is out of the question. Getting the scoot up on the CS is not a one man job... You need help. If your CLASS system is working, put max pressure in the suspension, and give it another try. You may find it easier???
  8. I may be wrong, but I don't think they made Venture Line stuff for 2ndGens. I think it was more along the line of Star Accessories. If you look at those side brackets they have the 3 odd shaped adjustment holes that allow for forward/aft positioning of the side posts. The posts... kinda a wishbone affair.. are missing. The set would make a nice up grade refresher for one of the Venture Line back rests, but not at $150 bucks....
  9. And I gotta add, if I didn't see it I wouldn'a believed it. We live on a fairly narrow dead-end street, and when Brian went to turn the whole rig around he just drove down the street where he had room and swung a U-E. No backing up into an empty drive way for him. It's gotta be the first time that's ever happened in the 40+ years we've lived here....
  10. A V-nosed trailer would actually be 4' less in length if it were built as a flat nosed. That's why they can build 'm for less. I went to an auction looking at a 22' v-nose for storage and it turned out to be an 18. The extra 4' coming from the V. A 6X12 V is actually built on a 6X8 frame.... To get one with the same payload...you'd get a little more because of the V extension.. you would need to buy something around a 6x14. Nothing is exact, but you get the picture... V-nose equals smaller frame...
  11. LOL....!!!!!! Around here we have no problem finding TP tubes with me being outnumbered by the gals 3-2, and the other guys a cat.... :rotf:
  12. Nothing better than 'midnight' Plasti-Dip... Just make sure it's the spray and not the liquid. Although the liquid may work for spotting the pin wholes.. I donno..never tried it?? I dug out a old diaphragm assembly last night, and maybe sometime today I'll take a few pics of what I ended up doing. The rubber on this one actually has a small tear so it's going to be sorta an experiment to see just how big of a hole this PD stuff will seal...
  13. The back rest is a VentureLIne for an 86-93, and is incomplete. It's missing the uprights. I wrote and told the guy this, but he responded that it is complete. Clueless is right. It's a bicycle shop in Billings Mt. That back rest from Utopia looks like it might be a winer. I actually like it better that the VentureLine...
  14. I agree JT, but wait a bit, and I'll put together a 'how to' on refinishing diaphragm pin holes with Plasti-Dip. It's a rubberized spray from Home Depot, and I've had some good results using the stuff. For instance. Did you know that the cardboard tubes inside toilet paper rolls fit perfectly over the nylon retaining rings holding the diaphragm rubber, and the plastic slide can be covered with a sheet of wraped printer paper so the spray won't get on it.... A thin coat of PD on both sides makes the rubber look like new. Gotta take pics...
  15. Yeah, 'our' tab looks more like a finger nail clipping. The one on Ebay was narrower and taller. Another thing I later thought about is the thickness of the rubber itself. The stuff in our diaphragms is a fairly thin material, and those looked like they might be a bit thicker. I could be wrong, but thicker rubber might make for a slower response time??
  16. I had one do that and used 3M 5200 on it, but I'd imagine LockTite would do a pretty good job??
  17. It's my understanding you don't mix radials with bias plys...
  18. Brad, I think he's talking about the Right Front fork leaking. I don't think they have a right rear....
  19. Nice Job!!!!!!!
  20. Hey, I have a re-verb unit in mine. Goes 'boing' every time I hit a bump....
  21. Yeah you did Dan. Sharp eyes. Made me go back and look and start asking questions when the next set popped up. I just felt I didn't want any of our guys getting stuck paying big bucks for those things. I like to save as much as the next guy, but I think a few folks didn't know what they were getting into when they bid...
  22. Here's a copy of what i just sent to Tim. I haven't gotten any reply from them on a ship date. It's been two months since the order was placed, and I have called just to find out progress, but the production foreman and the office don't communicate that much. If I remember correctly the last order took about 3 months to build. I was going to call today but got sidetracked.
