  1. While mooching around on the web...yes I do go to other sites once in a while... I ran acrossed this chart on the IIHS web site. Interesting and eye opening. I realize the info is a couple of years old, but the percentages seems to stay about the same over a 5 year period even though the numbers have increased. In the cruiser catagory, the largest group represented, and crunching out the numbers, we had 1,583 deaths in 2005. And if that holds true in our 5,000 membership board we can potentially expect a little under 3 to die. In the touring catagory, taking an estimated WAS, we'd loose 1. Not a pleasant thought. So be really carefull out there......
  2. You notice they also have returned stuff at $7.00 bucks a foot instead of $21.00 per?? If it's so great why are they getting returns???
  3. Kinda steep......
  4. That serial number only applies to the 1985 1200 models. Everything past that, plus 86-93 1300's, will have the improved tranny. The serial numbers are only consecutive for each model year, and start over with the new year.
  5. Any time a battery has been sitting for a while, low on fluid, and reads 6vdc, it's toast. Trying to recharge a battery in that condition is wishfull thinking..
  6. I ran into an '08 BlkCherry/Ravin on the floor at the dealer in Twin Falls ID about a month ago. He may still have it. Lot better colors than what's offered on the '09.
  7. If you're in the Nor-Cal area stop on by and we'll bleed it out for ya'.... The pic below shows the rubber plug that covers the slave bleeder valve. It's a first gen, but the 2-gens are in the same place.
  8. I don't use it either, but they do have some interesting accessory mounts on their site...
  9. Now that's just plain digusting. One more year of pergatory... Ya'da thought they would have at least come out with a couple of good color combos. Black Cherry... Midnight... Silver.. I think I'm going to go throwup...............
  10. It's for the '91 and that project is on the back burner for awhile...along with all the rest of them.. I'd still hold onto the stock final just in case the mod doesn't work out to be a good thing. OEM MkII's show up on Ebay all the time... just not when you need one....
  11. Keep it. You're not going to get one bit more for your bike if you leave it on.
  12. You might as well pick it up. The shop isn't going to find one that quickly...unless they also see it and are bidding on it. Then you might have a problem. I'd touch bases with them to make sure you don't buck heads....
  13. Here's one on Ebay right now with the master.... REAR BRAKE
  14. I use PAM on the forks. Get a dried bug on the tube and it could nick your fork seals. PAM will keep the dried bug body from sticking to the tube and slide up out of harms way when the fork is compressed. The stuff is too gooey to put on the fairing ect. I just use Pledge or plain water to soften things up for cleaning. Actually Pledge and a micro-towel remove bug guts off the windshield pretty good without any help.
  15. All Yamaha parts prices are keystoned. In other words they get them for half of retail. Looks like your dealer was even a bit more greedy.....
  16. I donno what's going on. I burn Ca. Ethanol, and it doesn't seem to make any difference in mpg. MOF the worst fuel milage I've received is out of state and running 70-80mph on the interstates. Burning non-ethanol fuel. I get 40-43mpg around town, and up to 50mpg in the local mountain twisties with ethanol. When riding out of state, and slabbin' it most of the time, I'll drop down to 37-38mpg. So I think it's more of a speed issue, than what I'm burning. Sure ethanol costs a bit in mpg, but I think it's more the surrounding type of area you ride in that effects overall milage. High speed slabbing's gonna cost you.
  17. Zipping right along.... Kinda cool..
  18. Wow!! I've been lusting after a Zumo for a while, but now I'm not too sure?? I do have a GPS. An 'El Cheepo' Whistler 550, and it's never locked up, taken me down the wrong road, or failed to lead me to the closest gas station. Once when I went to buy another VR the location was in a very large housing developement with all kinds of streets heading off to nowhere, and it led me right to the place. Turn for turn..short and long. Never missed a beat. The only problem is the screen isn't the greatest in broad daylight. But that is offset by a very sexy voice telling me where to go....
  19. That's the one..........
  20. It's first come fist served on the MAC's. In other words money talks. If you'd like to be included I'll need a Paypal for the amount stated in the first post.
  21. No Problem. Check the link out. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22324
  22. Yes...... if they didn't have a bend they wouldn't be slip-ons........
  23. OK guys, here's the info I've received this AM concerning the MAC's. They are going to start building them Monday or Tuesday of next week and it's going to take about 3 weeks to get them shipped out to me. Now, I went ahead and stuck my neck out and ordered an extra 3 sets, and one of them is already spoken for. So's there's 2 sets still available.. If there's anyone who'd like to pick up a set, PM me.
  24. All one piece....
  25. I'm trying out a Chinese AGM battery, and on the last ride I used the Tape Deck a lot. After a while I noticed that the bike bogged when starting. I turned off the deck and after a bit the bog disappeared, and it was business as usual. I'm sure the battery doesn't have the highest CCA rating, but just how many amps does that tape deck draw anyway??
