Yeah there are some folks that like the regement of old style cruising. I'd rather have fun... We'll pro'bly do an eastern Pacific Mexico trip next. On NCL...

Don't tell Danob11 that..... I think it also depends on the distance between stop lights.....

We never did see many whales. The boredom came from the Cruise Lines. Celebrity. Never again. We did a Caribian on NCL Norwegian, and it was a hoot. There's a lot to be said about their Free Style laid back cruising. Celebrity felt like a Greyhound Bus...

Hey Brian, You go for it. Those 1300's aren't exactely slow... MOF you pro'bley won't be able to tell the difference unless you stick it on a dyno. Besides they have more bottom end 'grunt' than a 1200 ever will have. And guys like us need all the 'haul a$$' we can get....

Yeah, wife, I, and the kids took that cruise about 2 years ago. The trip was sorta boring, but the shore activities were great. I'da posted a few pics too, but I'm not near my computor... We stopped in Jeaneu, Ketchikan, and Skagway. Plus Hubbard Glacier. We got in very close to the glacier and experienced a huge calve. 'Course I was looking to other direction and didn't get a pic....

While watching a segment of American Thunder that covered the Harley History Museum, they covered a bike that had never been released to the public called the Nova. It had a V4 water cooled motor. Very interesting......... Did a little search on Google and came up with THIS

6..!!! I'm gonna have to go out and buy another bike.....

With a lot of bikes to cover I buy lots of covers. The last one came off Ebay HERE . I little lighter material than a few others I've picked up, but only time will tell. It's designed to fit an RSV, but they will fit the 1stGens also. Price is right and service and shipping were good.

If it's trans related you're going in the right direction. I've never been inside the trans, but there are some very knowledgeable members here who have. There's also a ton of posts on the subject. I doubt you would have time to read them all. Any noise that comes and goes when the clutch is worked is either in the clutch itself or the trans. Good luck.

If it disappears when you pull in the clutch it's a whole 'nother animal.....

WOW!! Talk about quick service.... You da man...

Was it a whine or more like a groan?? Speedo's will develope a moan/groan from several different areas. Usually happens when cold and just starting out. Stop and it goes away, and sometimes never starts up again until the next cold morning. Mine was caused by the cable fitting coming loose where it attaches to the dash. Others report dry, or damaged speedo cables.

Just wanted to make sure you were taken care of Don...

Since the new format has been added to our CP file I'm finding that everyone is posting visitor messages anytime they want to get in touch with me, and since I don't visit my profile that much they don't get a response for some time. Besides that they are a PITA to get rid of, and the system won't allow a message to be completely deleted. Visitors are given a choice but the VM is the top selection and get's picked almost exclusively. The old PM worked just fine. Who thought up this thing anywho?? Talk about user unfriendly!!!!!!

And that's why I deleted the first part of your original post in the quote. The only thing I could have addressed in the first part was your statement that most batteries sold today are AGM's, but chose not to.....

In order to get rid of a lot of misunderstanding and confusion about Odyssey Batteries. FYI, the plates are thiner. Here's a link to the page with specs etc... http://www.odysseyfactory.com/batteries.html Here's a link to a page that explains the Odyssey's Features. http://www.odysseybatteries.com/odyssey101.htm#mj

Don, The battery should not be giving you any problems and not need charging after installation in the bike. If it is going dead in the scoot you may have something that's draining the battery while it's sitting, or you have a bad one. When initially charging an AGM I use one of the 2-10-15 smart chargers. The thing is also a diagnostic and will tell you if there's a problem with the battery, like 'bad cell' etc. They're not that expensive... $50-$60 bucks, and a heck of a lot better than any of the 'maintainers'. The AGM doesn't discharge that much while sitting for long periods of time. I checked one I'd had on the shelf after 6 months and it still showed full. I've also had one go bad, I have three, and it was replaced under warantee by the distributor after going a bit over the warantee period. On the top of the battery there's a small white lable with two numbers, the bottom one is the born-on date. It's guaranteed for one year from that date, or the date that the battery was sold by a retail dealer. In the group buy's case, it's the born-on date. The batteries didn't sit on the distributor's shelf before being shipped and were very fresh. What bike you have it installed in, or the type charger you use doesn't make a hill of beans difference. The battery is sold as a MC battery and falls under the 'power sports' application. If we have to treat them with kid gloves, there not as good as they're cracked up to be..... And.... I have a copy of your original shipping invoice if you run into any problems. The invoice # is 80079 on 1/22/08. The phone # is 1-888-379-2555. Hope this helps. Jack

That's good to know. I'll need to try that with mine.... and do the tap test.. I have had the pulse dampner get clogged and the CT not show anything for that particular cylinder, but Sea Foam cured that....

Nah.... He would have thought he wore a cape, and could leap tall buildings in a single bound, or out run the cops because he thought he was faster than a speeding bullet.... :rotf:

To Part or Not to Part?
Condor replied to 6pak's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Something to think about if you part it out.... In the real world you're going to get a ton for the chrome, but after that it starts going down hill quick, and in the end you're going to have a bunch of parts you can't get rid of. Plus you're going to spend a lot of time dismantiling the bike, packing, and shipping parts. Every one thinks about all the money, but doesn't think about all the work. Your plastic, since it's been sanded etc., isn't going to pull as much as very clean color matching parts. Folks want something that matches what they have, and aren't looking for something to paint. Bolt on and go... Mechanical parts, outside of a few hard to find pieces, are a dime a dozen on Ebay. In the end, and unless you're totally driven, it's gonna get old quick. Toss a nice paint job on the bike... black cherry etc. .. and sell it. In the long run you're going to be a lot better off.... -
Good Luck Scot. After what you did to the Honda I'm sure the RSV will be just as spectacular....

2000 miles from home, low clutch hydraulic pressure
Condor replied to OutKast's topic in Watering Hole
Most of us never give the brake and clutch systems in our cars and trucks any thought for many years and never have a problem, but the clutch and braking systems on our Ventures need to have the fluid changed every 2 years. Now we know why.... -
battery or stator?
Condor replied to painterman67's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't think it's so much lugging the engine as it is a battery that's not putting out enough juice to deliver a strong spark.... Although it's common knowledge these motors love high RPM's, and running them at low RPM's is not recommended, they can be run at lower R's without bogging down and surging as long as the throttle is kept light. However you're gas milage will suck......
