That's common practice here in california. Lane spliting is accepted because there's no law that says it's illigal. I've never done it... no guts, and too vivid of an imagination....

Hi Sherry, Just got in from knocking the dust off everything... well almost everything.. Also ran into a few more of those black critters while rootin' thou the boxes. Yuck!! I did enjoy our visit. Nothin' like a big hug to make ya feel better. You ever need help, or someone to talk to give me a shout. You're one classy lady....

Moving foot controls forward?
Condor replied to Big Hack's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yeah Al, the whole thing needs to be removed. On the set that I had the flat stock came off when I removed the whole assembly, but I can't remember if there were any bolts attaching it to the under carriage. I don't think so, but if there is on yours take the thing off. It serves no purpose. -
That two weeks ago has turned into 5. And they actually said 3 weeks about 2 months ago. It's always the same story. As soon as they check with the production manager they'll get back with me. I don't think the PM even exists. I'd love to walk in off the street and put the screws to 'm. Like I said in my previous. I've just about had it up to here with excuses. OK it's friday afternoon. I just called them again. The latest story??? is they are at the chromers and should be ready next week. WE'll see..................

I just called them 3days ago, 2days ago, and yesterday Joe. Still getting the run-a-round. I know you guys don't want to hear this, but I'm about ready to tell them to stick it and refund everyone's payments. I've dealt with a lot manufacturers in the past, and when they start coming up with excuse after excuse about production, it's generally a sign of one of two things. They are indeed swamped with orders, or their credit line is so bad they can't even buy material, and they're about ready to fold.. In this case I don't think it's the former. I've been getting the run-around and excuses since mid-June, and I'm trying to be patient...above and beyond.... because I know how much you guys want these mufflers, I'm really sorry, but... I'm runing out of patients. So unless something happens very quickly, don't be surprised if it you all get a notice that you have a refund sitting in your paypal accounts.

You might consider a custom seat that moves you back a bit.. I lucked out and bought a Corbin off Ebay that was built for someone with long legs. Gives me about 3 extra inches to the rear, and I need every one of 'm.. Makes a big difference.. -
rear brake master cylinder overhaul
Condor replied to mbrood's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It is messy pulling the master and reserve out of there Mike. Just make sure that you rinse off all that DOT 3 that gets on the painted areas, or they won't be painted very long. A water flush works good. I rebuilt my master, but never did pull out the reserve. I probably should have because the baffle/gasket ended up pushing down on the low fluid sensor and gave false readings until I got in there with a piece of coat hanger and got some of the pleats compressed out of the way. Not perfect, but it did git rid of the red warning light. The master rebuild isn't that big of a deal. Pretty straight forward. The only thing you want to make sure of is that the expansion hole under the plastic 'L' fitting is clear. If you remove the fitting screws it will come off. It's a little stubborn due to the 'O' ring seal. At the bottom of the hole there are 2 holes. One looks like it's a false hole, but at the bottom of the false there's a very small orifice that allows heated expanded fluid back into the reserve. If that hole isn't clear the brakes will lock up on you. Other than that, and it being a PITA bleeding the system, you should be good to go. -

It could have been a lot worse... Hope the guilt and the wife heal quickly. It's never good to try a U-turn on an incline...ever. But if you have to, backing into a turn is about the only way to make it in one piece...on blacktop. On gravel/shale just bite the bullet and keep going....

It's hard to believe the reports of all the long lines to vote. We've lived here 35 years and have always walked right in and voted. In and out.... 5 minutes...

Grins... You have a mixed cartridge there... It's a 7.62Nato, or 308 Winchester. Same cartridge. Actually 308 Nato will work.... :) That's funny..... This is my first 788, but from what I've read, while researching values, the 788's came with Douglas bbls, and were more accurate than the M700's. The estate has another 70 or so long guns, and I hope somewhere in the mix there's a decient varment gun. .223 maybe?? I don't know the guys name but I guess he was a hell of a competition marksman. You should have seen all the reloading equipment and components. 100's of bullet molds, primers, dies... If I were still rolling my own I would have been very interested... Can't wait until the next time...

Moving foot controls forward?

It's not so much moving them forward as it is clearing the fairing to get to them. If you're uncomfortable with the floor boards you might try replacing them with stock pegs that allow your foot to point down in a more natural position.. My '91 had floor boards when I bought it. Very uncomfortable. Changed to OEM peg assemblies and it's so much better. You can find peg assemblies on Ebay, and all years are interchangeable. '83-'93 -
I used to shoot a 264 WinMag, which is based on the 375H&H cartridge, and If I remember correctly it got your attention when you pulled the trigger. Can we spell recoil reducer??? :rotf:

I thought it would make a great varmint caliber.... POOOFFF!! Actually there was a 219 Donaldson Wasp in pretty nice condition that went low. Just didn't want to get into reloading again.

Yep, know what a bore sighter is, and if that indeed is what happened, he didn't have an unlucky day, but lucky.... With the chamber pressures developed he's lucky he just split the end of the barrel. It could have been much worse...
-
I still don't understand what happened to your bbl.???
-
Yeah, the 375H&H would make a great snipper rifle....
-
Nice paint, double ugly seat, nice accessories. Just make damn well sure second gear is still good, or it's been fixed. Good luck. BTW you can buy just the foam for those grips...
-
Nope, didn't buy another Venture... But I did pick up a couple of really nice rifles. It's been years since I've even had a long gun in the house, and I used to have a bunch. Bought a Whitworth Mark X 375 H&H with scope, and a Remington 788 30/30 with scope. Both went for 25% of used retail value. When the bidding stayed that low I couldn't help myself. They were about 10 rifles in the auction and some went for double what you could have bought them for on the street. Go figure... I also picked up a couple of Burris Scopes for $50 bucks per. Another good buy. I'm a happy camper!!

Headlight Replacemnt for 1st Gen?
Condor replied to sefner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There's a couple of brighter bulbs available as replacements for the MkI's. Ask the clerk for something a little more potent.... Can't remember the part number but the standard bulbs are fairly common.... -
