WOWZY WOW WOW WOW!! 2018 Cannon Ball Run = don't miss it if ya got time!!!!
Condor replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
On the 20th-21st I see where they are going to overnight in Kalispell MT. That's where my HD rider Bro lives. I'll have to sent him the link to the rally. Maybe?? Just maybe??? If I feel up to it I might pay him a long overdue visit... :-) -
Yeah, it's located on the inside of one of the side covers. Can't remember which side?? It generally falls off from heat and oil residue over the years. When I brought my '93 back from AZ with Vermont plates and registered it, the tech asked about the label and I didn't have a clue about what he was talking about. He just figured it was somewhere and checked it off the list... I finally ran into one while wrenching on the '87.... It basically sez that the bike met all the emissions for that model year...

Ditto on the Turmeric. Been taking the stuff for about 2 months and it does help with the pain in the right knee. That and a brace have let me put off any knee replacement surgery.... Not sure about it fighting cancer, but if it does I'm OK with that also.... It's been 5 years since they opened me up and removed the colon tumer. My surgeon cut me loose from the annual check-ups last October. Praying that your treatment is equally successful Cecdoo....

Who needs satalite radio when you got a sound system like this.

That's an MC rider who hopes he hits red lights.... :-) -
Wow! Coolest sidecar setup I have seen so far! It can Lean!!!!
Condor replied to VanRiver's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
That's amazing. The bike leans but the side car doesn't.... -
Yes you did. 'One of the best' is more a figure of speech and to me meant it was rated right along with the two I mentioned . I guess I wouldn't have even asked about the other two if you had used 'One of the better'.... and my apologies for bringing the other two up.. Good, better, best... Never let it rest. Until the good is better, and the better is best (auth:anon)

That's Buffalo Bob.. :-) They even have Clara Bell....

Agree'd... Cody was a bit smaller. Think we had around 85. Probably would have had more if we hadn't already done a Venture West there. I was just basing both on the planned events, awesome riding, and affordable lodging... They both put on the smiles.. I wish someone would step up and do something up in South Dakota or down around Durango CO. Somewhere scenic where it's accessible to eastern US members. And we need a couple of younger members to step up and take the organizing over. Personally I'm getting to damn old to be doing this any longer..... :backinmyday:

They'll never admit it, but sometimes the server gets screwed up... I use EMClient for my email and every once in a while I'll stop getting email from a couple of my addresses and have to go into my accounts and reset everything. Why?? Haven't a clue....

Geeze!! What happened to Ft Collins and Cody???????

Gawd!!!! I am so hungry right now... Need to go to the Flaming Grill for lunch. http://www.flaminggrillcafe.com/

Yep I remember that. It has to be up or it won't go up afterwards.... Some remove it altogether, but then what do you do if you want to take the Voyager off?? I used a Harbor Freight MC stand screwed down to a piece of plywood to keep the bike upright while installing... The best bang for the buck just to have it laying around if nothing else... https://www.harborfreight.com/1800-lb-capacity-motorcycle-standwheel-chock-61670.html

Steve, You should hopefully get an installation manual when you buy the mounting kit. It's pretty straight forward and and can be self installed. It just bolts to existing holes. I did get an installation manual with the one I bought but it was so far out of date it was almost worthless. What I did find the most helpful were the videos on the MTC site. There's a two part for a Harley bagger down the list with good directions for adjusting the frame. However it's still a two man job. It can be done by one, but two is mo' better... Just remember to go by the numbers when installing. Don't think it's a plug and play or you're going to end up doing it twice.. Don't ask me how I know this... http://www.mtcvoyager.com/videos/

I love the old stuff. That's mainly what I listen to on XM radio. 05-06-and 07....

Thanks!! I just went to the MTC site. They've changed a lot of things, but still had to poke around... Didn't see a listing for the RSV in the menu. Just 1stGens. The Harley Dresser is listed taking an 'A' kit so I imagine it's the right size for the RSV as well. I'd still ask for lots of pics before committing to the trip. Luckily mine was about 4 miles and 15 minutes away. Btw I used a trailer to pick up mine. If you're thinking about using a pickup it might be a PITA. The frame is 58" wide. My trailer is 57"... Rats...!! :-)

The saddles open up enough to easily get things in and out. The lids just don't go horizontal... I stuck a pad of Velcro on the fender and the lid to keep it from falling down. Works... The classic is what mine is, and it's a 2006. I'm pretty sure the Harley takes a 'B' frame, and the RSV is an 'A'. Or visa-versa?? Anyway they won't interchange... I think it's because the Harley has a shorter wheel base. The tire centers of the Voyager line up exactly with the rear axle of the RSV. MTC has a load of info on their website. You just have to poke around to find it... I'd double check about the type frame the guy has before doing a 1000 mile trip to pick it up. And not getting the right one. There's a gusset in the right rear corner that should have the serial number on it. Get it and call the factory. They'll give you all the scoop on it. I think I'd even consider buying a new one from MTC and having them install it?? I know it's more money but it'll be done right... i just passed my 5 year surgery anniversary, and they cut me loose. After 5 they say re-occurrence is less than 1%....

That's how I found my Voyager. Craigslist. You can find the used chassis just about everywhere for around 2 grand, but Voyager wants another $700 bucks for the mounting kit. So it was just dumb ass luck that I ran into mine when I did. Take note if you ever do, the buyer for used RSV Voyager is a rare breed. I got mine cheap because I think I was the only O.F. in the Western US with an RSV looking for one... Good luck finding one and with the cancer/chemo treatments. No chemo but had the same problem....

37 MPG in a new F-150 with a 2.7 liter boxer engine
Condor replied to frankd's topic in Watering Hole
I'll be a huckleberry when one does diesel duty hauling heavy loads, and has 350K on the ODO. HP sounds good, and torque is good, but... how long is it going to last. On the oil injection for gas, it shouldn't be a problem. They've been doing oil injection on very large 2 stroke OB marine engines for 30 years or more. Some old schooler's go to mixed fuel, but it's a PITA. I've never had a problem with the system. IMHO diesel is the way to go. Detroit diesel 2 strokes have been around longer than I have, and that's saying a lot.... :-) Diesels love heat, and from what the guy said heat is an issue. I remember seeing OP engines in Popular Mechanics back when I was a kid and thought they were interesting then.... -
I think you can buy a Chinese knock off Honda 90 for probably less than what it would run for the parts to rebuild the one you have... Saw one mounted on a 3-wheel bike. Looked nice..

Clutch bolt torque for an '87 VR
Condor replied to Jimod's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've never seen need to torque the clutch bolts. 5.8flbs is just a tad passed snug. MOF somewhere when in the clutch learning curve I read 10flbs, but maybe that was for the MKI?? Still a tad snugger hand tight. The deal is to not tighten them to much. Finesse is the rule here... -
Don's right on about where to plug the thing in. There's a lot of different audio sources going thru the TV. By plugging into the cable or satellite box you're only using one of the sources... Anything connecting to your wifi with a smart TV isn't going to make it... However, if the cable is your only source it doesn't really make a difference... Good Luck... :-)
