    AGM Batteries

Every time I look at that tech post it seems to get more screwed up. Try this one. http://cast-aways.com/yamahabatt.htm Steve- 50 is a lot of batteries. $5,000, and 900#'s worth. The shipping, even by truck, will kill you. The last time I did a Group buy with Odyssey we came up with about 25 orders, and that was a combination of the PC680 and the PC545. I was thinking about Big extending a Venture Rider Discount to the individual members, and that way no one would have to mess with a thing. But first things first. Let me take a look at the thing and check it out. If nothing else the battery looks like, even at their regular retail, it might be a pretty good deal...

    AGM Batteries

Thanks for posting this. It looks like it'll be a better fit than the PC680 Odyssey, and the amp rate is listed at 300cca vs. 220 on the PC680. Plus the price is a heck of a lot better.... Gonna have to order one and check it out. OK I just ordered one of the BIG-ETX18L. Shipping came out at $19.95 UPS Ground. 'Bout $95 bucks total. What intrigues me the most is footprint being close to an OEM, which makes it a bit larger than the Odyssey, and is probably where they get the extra amps. I'll give it a test and see how it performs. If it looks good I'll approach them about a group buy... I didn't look, but they may have one for the 2ndGens too..??
  3. The second pic is how it should be. If it's like the first pic, that's your problem. Like I mentioned before in a previous post, you need to take the carbs off to get that cable correctly connected on the cam... It's impossible otherwise.. Did you do that?
  4. If the cable is coming out of the cover like you have pictured...it's binding. The cable should come straight out and lay in the chanel of the cam. Hope your just a bad artist...
  5. As long as you order a cover in XXL or one that'll fit an RSV, it'll fit the 1stGens. Just another comment about the covers from Hong Kong. They are very poorly made and the material, although it looks good, will fade and leak in very a short time. Only good as an overnight 'dust' cover. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I just ordered another cover off ebay from a US seller. I bit more money, but way ahead with a heavier material and nicer construction. There are two sellers in California that have the same cover. One includes a chain/padlock if you do a buy it now, and the other includes the lock no matter what. Their covers are made in China, but much nicer. With 6 bikes and no inside storage I buy a lot of covers, and so far these are the best I've found since my original Cycle Sak's. One more thing. Don't buy the type that are that gray mesh. The things actually start to deteriorate and fall apart. They are the worst of them all.
  6. Interesting stuff... I wonder how Yamaha sales would be effected in street bikes if they produced improved models every two to three years instead of pushing amortizatation beyond reason... Creating new pipelines is also a part of smart business. Trying to sell stale models is not...
  7. The more moisture your brake and clutch fluids absorb, the darker it gets. Causes lots of problems from rusting up the slave walls, forming inline crystals, to boiling when the engine is hot, and causing the clutch to slip, and the brakes to drag and over heat. There's a reason why the service manual recommends bleeding the brakes and clutch every two years. I do mine every year at the start of the riding season. Fresh fluid should look like clear water, when it starts looking amber it's time to get it out of there....
  8. Square cut gearing vs. Helical cut on the back side of the clutch basket. VR's are square cut and do ocassionally sound like a turbine..
  9. It does work. I got it to change a couple of times.... The Ball Have fun....
  10. LOL... I shoot a Darton 70MXR... Just like me, it's pretty old... Been looking at a PSE or maybe a Mathews..
  11. Can't speak for other states, but here in California they don't...
  12. I wish they'd just split the difference and set the time back a half hour in the fall... split the difference... and leave it there....forever.. DST IS A PITA.....
  13. Very interesting...... and I'd ride one. I can see one possible problem. You don't need a MC indorsement on your drivers license to operate one. I can see inexperienced folks riding one off the lot and getting hurt.... or... am I just being paranoid...
  14. Interesting subject, but how about taking this in another direction. Does anyone have any personal knowedge of a plugged MC tire causing a wreck, or even causing a plugged tire come apart. Any actual motorcycle specific research done on the subject??
  15. Just one more quick question and I'll get outta here. Is that $60 Canadian or US???
  16. That's double ugly fluid....
  17. Thanks for all your effort Reiny!!! I'll be ordering a couple of sets for now Does Martin have a direct email box Martin@siriusconinc.com, or do we put attention Martin in the subject line?
  18. Thanks for all your efforts Reiny, I'll be popping for 2 sets pretty quick.....
  19. There's usually a letter/number stamp on the side of the battery. First letter stands for month... a=Jan, b=Feb,...etc. The number is the year manufactured. 4=04,5='05,...etc. So G7 would be July, 2007.
  20. It's all relative. Supply and demand. The cuts are a result of poor sales, don't expect anything to go up in price for a while...
  21. A lot of standard venture owners have installed a complete AM/FM/CD in the left faring. I think if you check around the GM used parts yards you might find a CD player only out of a late model suburban that may fit.???
  22. If your side rails are high enough for the straps to clear the fairing off the grips one of these isn't neccessary. CANYON DANCER. Otherwise if your tie points are too low you'll end up possibily messing your fairing up. 4 attachment points. Both grips and two off the bags guards keeps the rear from hopping around. An MC wheel chock in the front will keep everything where it belongs.
  23. Somewhere around 2015, when you get to this part of the list, PM me for my address...
  24. If you find the ignition switch in the box of little things, the key number is on the backside of the housing... Otherwise drilling out the pop rivets on the hinges will allow you access to the back of the key lock. Maybe you'll get lucky...
  25. Engine heat will cause the fluid to expand. If it doesn't have anywhere to go it will start putting pressure on the pressure plate and the clutch will start slipping. When it's cold the slip may not happen. The sight glass should show fluid about half way. Take some out and see what happens.
