  1. The '93 I picked up in AZ had stickers from everywhere all over the windshield. Once I got it back home I took the windshield and License plate off and sent them back to the P.O. as he wanted it as a keepsake. The windshield was toast anyway.... I do put equipment stickers on the bike...on the underside of the trunk lid.
  2. When I first bought the '83 the site glass was pretty dark...even after changing the oil. Now after periodic oil changes and 7-8,000 miles it's nice a clean. I thought about coming in from the back side to clean it. Forget it. The Sea Foam suggestion is also a good one.

I understand what you're saying, and very well I might add, but now lets talk about a trailer box, not a theoritical beam. You're not going to load 100% of the weight at the wheel end of the box and let the remainder of the box space stand empty. You're going to utilize the entire volumn of the box. Even if you load the heavy items to the 'back of the bus'... sorry had to say that..:rotf:it will not all pack into a small confined area. In practice it will spread over 2 to 3 feet with the remainder of the lighter items distributed forward. In practice everything stowed will increase the weight on the hitch end. Perhaps not on a 50/50 basis, but enough that it will make tongue weight significantly greater than a trailer with the wheel/axle in the center of the load. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the results will be after the trailer is finally built.
  4. Gung Ho Fat Choy....
  5. Yeah that^ My bad. Just counted one side.... That's what I get for spending half the night in emergency with my wife.....
  6. $7200 is way below the going price for a '99 V Interstate. Especially 'out the door'. The minimum is $8000++. So selling the bike at anything close to what he quoted you would have been a big mistake on the salesman's part. I'm sure the owner reamed the guy out enough that he conviently forgot everything he said. That's another reason why, when shopping for a big purchase, that you have the money or financing already taken care of before even thinking about asking, or negotiating. It would have been nice to slap him across the face with a check for $7200 and took it home.
  7. If you right click on the image and then click on 'show image' they seem to come up quicker...
  8. The 86-93 are ..edited.. four piston rear calipers, but since the rear brakes only contribute 20-30% of the total stopping power I wouldn't worry about doing the conversion. The gain wouldn't be worth it. You're right, there is a bolt pattern difference between the forks. 8?mm on the MkI and 100mm on the MkII. So to change out the calipers the forks will also need to be changed.
  9. Larger pad surface too.

The trailer actually does have a fulcrum, but the mass is all on one side.. A tire or tires at the center point form the fulcrum. Shift the axle toward one end or the other and the applied downward force will shift from one end to the other, either creating lift or mass weight. The weight on either side or an axel will cancel the other out except for differences in those weights. Move the axle completely to one end of the trailer and all the weight will shift to one side of the fulcrum and become a total combined mass. The total weight will apply downward force and be split between the two suspending fulcrum ends. Geeze did I say that...
  11. I think the biggest improvement is handling in the curves. With both forks compressing as one holding an arc is greatly improved. On the straights you probably won't notice much difference between the OEM and the aftermarket...until you hit a pot hole... A brace, progressives, and Avons are a great combination...
  12. I think the main reason folks are doing the swap is for the newer braking, not the AD's. From what Bongobob posted the AD's are interchangeble, so there's no need to swap out the front forks.
  13. Forgot your gremlin bell Huh??? Glad you're OK...
  14. Nice Pics!!!!
  15. I'm happy for ya Bob,... but it's a sad day in Mudville...
  16. The fork braces arrived this morning... Saturday, and I'll be working on the shipping Sunday and Monday. So, most everyone in the US should be getting their brace by the end of the week. To keep the price down to last years I committed to more than were ordered. So if anyone has been sitting on the fence about picking one up, shoot me a PM, and we'll get you taken care of. I'll also be posting an ad in the classifieds shortly. ManyThanks.
  17. I tried to delete this thread but didn't have any luck...
  18. AND YOU DON'T FEEL THE LEAST BIT GUILTY.....
  19. Cool!!! Ya never know, with all the trouble we all have bleeding our cotton pickin' brakes, this might be just the ticket... Am I seeing visions of maybe another group buy on the horizon???
  20. Any body that builds a motor that runs counter-clockwise can't be good.....
  21. I just looked up all his posts since the begining, and it looks like he's been pissed off at the scoot from the git-go.. I think the bike needs another home with some lovin'........ Somebody close rescue it!!
  22. I've been thinking about doing something like that to. Get another reserve plug and drill and tap it for a 1/4" bib fitting and hook it up to larger storage for bleeding. The Speedi Bleeder is interesting. Although I didn't look that hard, they don't seem to have a listing for just the bleeder without the adapter.
  23. Sweet ride. I thought the 99's only came in two tone silver, and a silver/maroon??

The trailer seems like it's gonna be neat looking, but I gotta ask a question. On single wheeled trailers with the wheel in the back... what does it do to the 'tongue' weight on the bike? With a standard trailer the load can be balanced to give the correct amount of tongue weight, and the Uni-Go single has the wheel in the center which I suppose could be balanced somewhat. But with a single rear wheel the more payload you stick in there the more the weight on the rear axle of the bike will increase. I think it's something like half of the total, or a 300# payload will put an extra 150#'s on the bike's rear axle. I think....?? Correct me if I'm off base here....
