As long as we're all guessing, here's my thought. A Stratoliner S with the new fuel injected 1700 V4. All accessories are an option, and easily installed by the dealer. Intertainment cluster, Navagation cluster, Cruise cluster, etc.....

Sounds like your permantly dropping a cylinder, but it only shows up under heavy loads. Could be a lot of things. Bad plug wire, plug, fuel starvation.....???

Don't ya just love it when you buy something from one of these online companies and the credit card charge hits your account almost instantaneously, but when it comes to issuing refunds it takes damn near forever.

Don't know much about the VCAN 210, but that CostCo price is the cheapest I could find. One thing that would worry me is that if VCAN is dumping the 210 to CostCo, are they in trouble financially, and going to be around for any warantee issues that might crop up??

Help.... will not run
Condor replied to cookieman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
No battery should pull down to 3.? volts while cranking. Sounds like you have a weak battery and possibily a stator that isn't putting out to keep it runing???? -
I'm wondering, after looking at the pic, if the same thing would hold true when running at higher speeds in the twisties. On a moderatly slow curve I can see where the CT would have a larger foot print than the Moto tire, but once it climbs up on the edge in sharper turns at higher speeds that contact strip will decrease dramatically while a Moto tire will give a constant contact patch thruout a higher speed turn... While this may hold true I can also see if a rider does most of his riding on the slab, the tire wear will be much greater on the CT...

Yep we all get it if we hang around long enough. Hope everything turns out OK. Prayers.....

I just might do that. My brother lives in Kalispell. Did the Sun Road a few years ago with the family.

Depends on the circumstances but I've thought about heading up into Montana, and over to the Washington coast before heading south back to the barn.

I wouldn't keep that away from traveling around semi's. The chance of being hit by lightening is probably greater than experiencing something like that. Over the years I've put on millions of miles alongside big rigs, while on the road as a sales rep, for various companies. In all that time I've had just one truck blow a tire while I was next to it, and nothing came of it. So to have one blow and then take out a window is rare indeed... We can't be paranoid while riding. Cautious yes, aware yes, but not paranoid. Otherwise the enjoyment of riding disappears, and we might as well not fire the scoot up.

Ummm??? I thought that if water were heavier than gas it would sink to the bottom of the tank?? That's why tanks rust out... And since the pickup is on the bottom of the tank, any water at all will make a mess of things. Maybe the gas was floating on top of the water?? Which would make for a LOT of water...

There isn't a rebuild kit available for the carbs. For the most part folks just replace the diaphragms and clean the 'H' out of the jets with a good carb cleaner or Sea Foam. If your brother didn't get the results he was looking for it was probably due to plugged jets, but check the phrams anyway. I wouldn't go thru a complete dismantle. Draining the old fuel out of the tank and replacing the fuel filter should also be done. After the cleaning a carb sync is mandatory.... Good luck.

Fork brace group buy....
Condor replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yours will be fine. They should fit snug. For anyone in the future the upper tube pinch bolts may need to be loosened as well. When I mounted the brace on my '91 it kinda schloooped right on, but the '83 was tight. Each bike seems to be a little different in tollerance. Here's a write up that Squeeze submitted the last go around that pretty much explains it. -
First gens have a 5.3 gallon tank. Any more than that and the station is pouring a short gallon, and you're getting screwed. Gas volume will expand when it gets hot out of the pump and will take less to fill'r up. I generally run 150 miles, and start looking for a station. Not because I need gas... I have to pee.....
