  1. I think everyones hanging their hat on whether the unit is waterproof or not, but in my opinion.. not worth much.. the ability to see the screen in broad daylight is the big factor. Let's face it, there's not many places to tuck it away on an MC dash. I have two 'toys' and they do a very good job at showing me where I am.. even when I'm not, but let the sunlight hit either one and it's wash out time... Not much visual use at all. Unless the unit has bluetooth capibilities... then it'll at least tell you where you are even when your not. I tried my first one out on the way to Ft Collins in '07 and it was basically worthless when out on the slab. Around town it really helped finding the Dairy Queen....
  2. I gotta know. Was Mike terrified by a 1stGen blowing past him at one time in his life. He never seems to miss a chance to drop a dig any time he can... ad nausium... It would be funny if it were once in a while, but he doesn't get it. No matter what he posts 2ndGens are just plain slow........ and there's nothing he can really do about it... Even a snail thinks he's traveling at warp speed. :rotf:
  3. Rick, any chance you have the saddle overloaded on the left side and have to compensate?? Since it's a new2U bike, could it possibly have a 'worst case senerio' bent frame??? It shouldn't pull!!!
  4. And not on 2 wheels... Went fishin'. We fished San Francisco Bay for Halibut. My first time on what we call a 6pak charter. Not as roomy as one of the bigger 'cattle' boats, but more successfull. WE were also treated to the arrival of the Mexican Naval academy's Cuauhtemoc. From the other side of the bay it was a little washed out and hazy, but still impressive. http://www.latitude38.com/lectronic/img_lectronic_800/2009-07-13_4753_CUAU-1.jpg And attached are the pics of the trip. Fish'n'Chips for dinner tonight.
  5. What great luck Bill!! You're both at your new digs and ARE ALIVE!!! Movings always an ad Venture... Things'll get better, and enjoy those outdoor showers....
  6. I suppose you could, but with the shocks working it's going to be very hard to read the PSI, and could very well blow a couple of seals in the process.
  7. The CLASS only functions when the ignition key is on ACC. Not while running...

    ABS Glue

I use IPS Weld-On 2354 for ABS repair. It chemically welds the parts together. It's clear and will take on the color of what ever base material you're going to repair. I pick the stuff up at Tapp Plastics locally, but I think it can be ordered online. Good stuff.... IPS
  9. I just ran acrossed this on Ebay for a Stratoliner/Roadliner. It looks like the fairing is posted by a manufacturer, so they may make other models. Seems like the price is pretty decent so far?? FAIRING #290329328477 Maybe save a few bucks??? Good luck.
  10. Now that's a possibility....
  11. A 'Whomp' is pretty generic. Could even be a seperated cap on the front tire?? Engine noises are usually rattle, clank, ping, knock, etc.
  12. Did someone mention a whine coming from the final??? Maybe??
  13. My '83 whines at around 3000rpm. I think it's kinda cool. Sounds like a turbo winding up. But my 91 doesn't. Gear cut?? Who know's?? Beside I don't even notice it after riding a while. Then again I don't hear my obnoxious Grandfather Clock chime any longer either... It's a left brain thing.....
  14. I've swapped them around with no problem. Although, I tend to put the MkI's on the MkII due to the I's having adjustable pegs. The MkII's are fixed.
  15. Out of curiousity I searched the web for some info on these trippers and found this post to a board that I found interesting. Some of the responses were also.... MAGNETS I saved the link to the supplier in the post. I might just give a couple of these things a try. The material they use seems to be the most powerful according tho another 'primer' site. Besides the price is right....
  16. I think that's something you should be calling Race-Tech about. It may be nothing more than changing the oil.
  17. Buddy Rich is in San Antonio and I know he's experienced with rear shocks.... I called Bob and left him Buddy's #.

    knob bolts

I saved it to favorites too. Gotta check to see if they will work on the saddles of a 1stGen???
  19. It's a joke. A design engineer at Yamaha decided to put it there to confuse people. He doesn't work there anymore......
  20. I wasn't having much luck at tripping the sensor with the '83. So while kicking tires at our local Beemer Shop with HDTR and BuddyRich I got the hard sell from the service mgr on one of those magnets. $14 bucks so said what the 'h' and bought it. Zip tied it to the center stand, and now I rarely hang up on a left turn. Some of the older side street LH turns don't have the oval groove sensor yet and you can wait forever.... I just run them. I think the DMV code says you can after 3 cycles. After one I say screw it, and go.....
  21. Old converted boat trailers have a tendency to do that. Water launches can really mess up the bearings and spindles..... don't ask me how I know that...... Glad you're OK, and the new2U bike made it... it coulda been worse.. See how lucky you are.....

    Foot sugery

Mines not as long, and it's never been a problem, even in my BBall days, but on an all day bike rides my boot wears a hole in the top of the joint.... then the SOB HURTS!!!!!!!! I've been putting DrScholls Moleskin on it and it seems to be working. Goods luck on the toe reduction....
  23. COOL!!! In my case I'd rig those side boards into some type of picnic bench seating with space enough for the legs in order to sit while working. I wouldn't have to be dragging a stool all over the place.
  24. No Jim, this replaces the OEM brace which is pretty flimsy. Makes the forks compress together. Big handling improvement in the twisties, on rough roads, and hard braking. It should be a must mod on every 1stGen out there.
  25. 7 wide if you're planing on hauling 2 ventures. A V-Nosed 14 is actuall a reg 12 with a V tacked on the front end. V nosed trailers look cool, but they don't have the room that a regular enclosed of the same length has, so always go 2 foot longer in a V to get the floor space.
