  1. I have a couple of original keys and one has a letter and one does not. The blanks are mirrors of ieach other. I don't know what that means, but here's a website that may be able to help. http://www.motorcyclekeys.com/ I just had John cut a key for the '90 from the code on the back of the ignition switch. I hoped I could see it with a mirror, but no such luck. Had to remove the switch. PITA. The key was pricey, but it did work and now I can get fuel in the tank and try to start it....
  2. Actually it still pulls to the left... you've just shifted to the right to compensate...
  3. Congrats. Nice place.. I can see someone in the market for a riding lawnmower in the future.....
  4. First time I've ever heard someone describe the Bear Tooth as scary... I'll plan on getting scared then when we do Cody in Sept. Bring on dem Grizzlies. Arrrgh!!!! BTW very.. very nice pics ....
  5. I run IE along with Trend, and normally don't have a problem with pop-ups, but on that site I couldn't get rid of them fast enough.
  6. The symptoms would probably be exactely as you discribed. Sluggish, lack of power. #2 is probably getting enough fuel to heat up via the idle circut, but doesn't pull due to lack of fuel at the higher R's. You either have a huge tear in the diaphragm or the assembly has come apart... I think...
  7. Dang that's hot. Make friends with a refrigerator......
  8. Tried to look at your pics Dave, but I had pop ups all over the place. Finally gave up.
  9. I'm good for 2hrs or 150 miles before I gotta pee. Amazing how those things work out like that....
  10. When trying to have a spare made for the '83 I couldn't find anyone local that had the blank in stock. And FYI there are 7 different blanks for the 1stGens, and they are all used in each model year. The letter in front of the code designates the blank and they run from A to G.
  11. That's only on the supreme...anyway I think they call it the supreme??... The standard still has springs. And that Daddy Long legger was just droppin' on by for a visit...
  12. Never noticed the $200 non-refundable registration fee.... That would be a deal breaker for me. It's not the amount, but the non part that turns me off... I guess if I were a salvage yard and bought a lot of bikes it would be that big of a deal, but for a one time bid on something I may...or may not win... it's a joke...
  13. One of the differences between the two trailers is the frame of the PB is heavier (see pic), it comes with a spare tire, chrome rims, plus the rack for the cooler. I bought mine used and it also had a spare bearings. I don't know if this is OEM or something the PO picked up?? When you add up the extras on the PB I don't think there's that much of a difference in price.
  14. I just had my right wrist carpal carved on and so far so good. My hand went dead on a VR ride, and stayed that way 24/7 for about 5 months until the operation. One thing that is strange about your symptoms is the little finger isn't effected by carpal, and you stated that your's went numb also?? If that's the case you might just be experiencing numb hand from lack of circulation, but not pinched off carpal nerves. One of the things I found while working -up- to the total dead hand sindrone is I had a tendency to over tighten the velcro strap on my fingerless riding gloves. It's easy to do. I got relief by just loosening the strap, relaxing my grip, and put on a few 600+ mile days with the help of a throttle lock on the '83VR. I don't think engine 'buzz' is causing your hand to go dead, and 'cushey' grips and padded gloves are going to help all that much.
  15. Actually I mounted a set of Kuryakyn highways on the front vertical that gives me about the same room. On long runs I can also rest the back of the achilles on the peg. Anyway it gives me all kinds of options for leg positioning. Keeps the ol' knees from acting up...
  16. I'm sure there be a flurry of bids right at the end, but right now the high bid is sitting at $75 bucks. I hope someone close by is going to take a run at it. I certainly would if it were closer. I'd hate to see it go cheap and escape into a non--VR.org garage....
  17. :rotf: Glad to see you're back at'm. Don't push it..
  18. Different exhaust port angles in the heads. Might be more hassel than it's worth.
  19. Gotta agree with you Squeeze. But I bet the fun factor is directly related to how deep the pockets are. Figuring out how to pay for it would take a lot of fun out of it for me. Unless, of course, the scoot belonged to someone else....
  20. This one might go a little cheaper than an '09.....
  21. When I got the 12.8 reading I started thinking that way myself. It wouldn't have been the first time a ground strap had loosened up...
  22. Today I took the Surburban up to the PO, and didn't have any signs of impending doom. Went inside, took care of biz, and when I got in the car to leave the battery was deader than a door nail. Started fine at the house, and then NADA. Called AAA for a jump. Fired right up and I took it home. I did find the positive side connection on the battery a little loose, and figured that may have caused a loss in charging. Got back to the house and hooked the battery up to a 15amp smart charger. Left it on for a couple of hours and when the wife came out to go to a doctor's appt.... Nada again. Now I put a Multi on it and it read 12.8 vdc. Pretty good. Anyway I removed the battery and took it over to my local Battery dealer. Same thing on his meter. 12.8vdc. Asked to have it load tested. Hooked up the tester and battery read in the green. Cranked up the load and it croaked. Open cell. The batt was only 20 months old, so they gave me a new one. When I installed the new batt the 'burb started a little reluctanly and stalled out a few times before it took hold. Here's the surprising thing. When I took it for a test drive the thing shifted smoother, had more power, and idled as quiet as when we first got it. I'd never seen anything like this before, and the dealer said it was quite rare. But I guess the car had been running on a low voltage for a long time before it died. Where am I going with this?? On our bikes we tend to rely on the volts to indicate charge and battery condition. Next time something doesn't seem right. Ruff running etc. It might be wise to have the battery load tested.
  23. Just setting all the CLASS pressures to low will lower the bike a bit.
  24. One way to take care of that problem is to run the keyed hot accessory circut thru a michro switch and then to the relay. That way you have control of the lights on or off, and then there's no way you can forget....
