  1. Dang that is one dirty looking engine. Time for three of four cans of carb cleaner....
  2. A couple of years back another Venture out of a collection with less than a thousand on the OD went for $5600 on Ebay. I bet there are a couple of 1stGens still in the crate out there somewhere.... ??
  3. Pat I think you're getting your terminology mixed up a bit. The '92 you are looking at is still a 1stGen. The 2ndGens start with the '99 to present. The '92 is a Ist Gen MarkII, '86-'93. The MarkI's are '83-'85. That said, about the only major differences between the MkI and II are the bigger bags, and the 1300 engine, and the 4 piston front brakes. Also on the MkII they went to a digital TCI from '90 thru '93. The MkII is a slightly heavier bike, and the 1300 motor gives a bit more low end performance.. read grunt.. compared to the MkI 1200 that comes on strong in the higher r's. FWIW I think Yamaha did this to improve two up touring, and to handle the heavier payload from the larger bags. My 2 Cents .
  4. Hi Dan, Thanks for doing the rectifier GB. I noticed that in your group buy criteria you limited the units to 1 ea., however I have two Ventures.... actually more than that but only two are road worthy... That's why I requested 2 ea., but if that's going to be a problem, send the second to someone else. It you need any advice on shipping, paypal, etc., give me a shout.
  5. The pic is in the skippers camera. Will post as soon as I get it in my hot little digital hands... :-)
  6. Went Halibut fishing on San Francisco Bay all day yesterday. Unlike the previous trip where we slayed the Butt's, this time we didn't land one. But all was not lost. One our first drift I landed a 53" 50# White Sea Bass. My first WSB, and the biggest on the Bay this year.
  7. This company has a pretty good selection of stripping stick ons. http://www.stripeman.com/mm5/merchant.mvc
  8. Got 'm Doug. Thanks.

  10. I still have 83-93 fork braces left over from the last group buy. Anyone interested? If not, I guess the next stop will be Ebay. Here's a link to the ad in the classifieds. FORK BRACE
  11. I noticed after watching the video small pic/links appear across the bottom. Some of those are pretty interesting as well....
  12. Nice pics Brian.
  13. The EII is a fairly robust tire, and it's hard to believe that it went from acceptable to bald in that short of time.... unless you were doing burn outs.... com'n now, fess up.. I was concerned about the EII tread pattern on my '83 being a little skinny, and thought I'd change it before taking the 3000 mile round trip to Ft Collins in '07. I posted a couple of pics of the tire and most of the members recomended that I change it out after the trip. That was two years ago and I just changed it last week. And that's after a couple of more M&E's, and Venture West IV last year with the Massey-Furguson Rd. And there was still a little tread pattern in the center. So from thinking about it to actually changing it I probably logged another 4500-5000 miles. I could have kept going, but it was time. EII's are tough.....
  14. The moon takes the same exposure as sunlight. There's an exposure compensation setting in the menu file. Set it about minus 2. That should take care of the wash out. Actually you should get a fairly sharp image handheld because your shutter speed will be the same as daylight. If your going to use max telephoto a tripod will be needed, and remember most of these digitals don't yield a really sharp image in max. If you have a high megapixel camera take the pic in mild telephoto and then crop to what you want with your image editor... Much better results.
  15. How about a big
  16. There may be around 50 ordered, but like previously posted the total mentioned is still around 25-30. I'm sure by the time Squeeze is through dealing with the seller the final price will be figured out, and then it's a matter of sending the payment via paypal to either Squeeze or JB to be forwarded to the dealer. I've personally done several group buys for the board and that's the way I've done it in the past. I'd be interested to know what you paid via Ebay, and maybe a liink to the sellers auctions?? Also, I've never heard of this rectifyer before. When you find something like this on Ebay you might mention it to the other members. Some might have been interested even at the auction price.
  17. In the second post Lonestarmedic said he could act as distribution point. As far as shipping goes I don't see why the thing wouldn't fit in a small flat rate Priority box for the US for $5 bucks, and Priority to Canada will run $10. As far as the number available, I thought the number posted was about 30... I don't know where you came up with the $1800 figure... 30 x $32 works out to be around $960, and if everyone pays in advance it's not going to be a hardship on anyone. This thing is still in the infant stage, and no matter what it ends up costing in the long run, it'll still be a hell of a lot cheaper than dealing with a new OEM. Plus being better technology.

  19. Very nice Rocket. Those lights are great, and that's the same plug bar we were talking about. Dan, 2ndGens are just plain slow, and they just can't stand it. But they are cute.... :rotf:
  20. It's definately not normal. Time to take it to the dealer.
  21. I used to work in the western industry during the big western craze of the '80's. and wore 'riding boots'...., because it was fashionable. Everyone who wore them raved at how comfortable they were. Basically I think they were afraid to admit that they sucked... sorta like mass hysteria. They were the most unconfortable footwear I'd ever worn, and since the company I worked for owned a boot factory I could have anything I wanted for next to nothin'. They pinched your toes, hurt the arches, and rolled ankles,.... but they looked good!!!! Riding boot were designed for riding a horse, not doing the two-step at your local saloon. The pointed tow for getting into a stirrup, the underslung heel in order to not catch the hell when dismounting, and the steel arch for support while in the stirrup. Now remember I said western riding boots. On the other hand they also make a 'roper' style boot with a walking heel, and about an 8" top. Comfortable as all get out. After trying a few riding styles I switched to the roper and never looked back. There used to be jokes in the industry. How can you tell a real cowboy? He's wearing Adidas.... Or.. How do you tell a fake cowboy. He's got two quarters to rub together in his pocket...
