  1. Sounds like a good idea. My only question is, are you recycling used or possibly dirty fluid back thru the system? The factory recomends flushing out the system every two years to rid the lines of moisture.
  2. You might have air trapped in the line, and when the engine heats up the air it starts to expand forcing the slave to push on the rods just as if you were pulling on the lever. If you start to disengage by pulling on the lever just a tad, I suspect air, or a plugged expansion hole in the reserve/master. DOT 3 will expand when it gets hot, and if the small expansion hole is plugged the expaned fluid has no place to go and will also start pushing on the rod.
  3. I agree. On the lever/right front caliper there's no need to reverse bleed. It's a straight shot up from the caliper to the master. MOF it's the easiest brake caliper to bleed. Reverse bleeding only works when air gets trapped in the lines, because of line route, or in the case of the clutch slave, the system. Pick up a set of Speed Bleeders directly from the website above.
  4. Bet that motor is going to run a little quieter too.
  5. Why would anyone apply that kind of power to just one wheel? Ya'd think if he wanted to run it though the 1/4 two rear slicks would have been better than one to launch that thing. Or.... he likes replacing the rear tire regularly. I'd love to hear it tho-....
  6. 'Cancer Free' ain't those nice words....
  7. Selling the seat is kinda like burning bridges.... maybe??
  8. Here's the link to http://www.gi-pro.net/ It looks like they're fairly pricey for what they are. The 'other' board has them for about $20 bucks less and from what I can gather they are actually a distributor... or at least working themselves in that direction. There is nothing for a RSV but maybe they're just not aware of the potential market??
  9. I found this on another board where they are doing a group buy. The company might be interested in making a RSV specific if there's enough interest??? http://calsportbike.com/gipro-ds/
  10. WOW!!!!! Heal up Bob. I'll remember to stay away from slippery water...
  11. I hit 50mpg running the twisties all day long. Using the motor and down shifting into the curves and powering out of them. Mostly running in second and third. Occasionally hitting 4th. And the mileage is not a freak, it happens every time I get into that type of riding situation. Others have report the same thing happening. Mileage will drop to 38mpg when running the slab at 4000 rpm and around 72-73mph in fifth. I don't care when it was built, or what it was designed for, wind resistance is the enemy. And when it comes to resistance I'm big enough to be considered two up all the time.
  12. Maybe a fuse that just died of old age and viabration???
  13. The Vin# is located on your title, and also the decal right under the clutch housing on the frame member. Anything over 1417 and you're good to go... If youwant to make sure the engine is original check behind the plastic engine cover on the left hand side rearward. There's a flat area that has the number stamped on it.
  14. Check out an EBC rear rotor. Much cheaper. There are quite a few EBC dealers online that discount. Used are available off Ebay from time to time.
  15. Very Cool!!!!!
  16. I gave that a thought. At least the heat part, but this one is really scrunched. I might play around with boiling it sometime in the future, but I doubt it will do any good.. I just needed to get things going on this bike as it has a lot of smaller nagging issues, and not much time to deal with them. Maybe with luck I'll have it on the road to Cody. If not I still have 'old faithful', the '83. Quick question Mike. Was that a pressure washer or a ultrasonic cleaner? I have one of the Ultras, and it does get pretty warm. Although the crushed diaphragm one looks like new, maybe boiling it might bring it back to original. I'll give it a shot. Hey, at $65 bucks a pop it worth a try....
  17. 1stGeners are fast...........
  18. Nothin like a good ol' Venture Round-Up to motivate a guy.
  19. Many thanks Randy. I PM'd you my address. Maybe I'll get this bike beat into submission yet...
  20. Pulled the covers off the '91 to get to the #4 carb and it's non--reactive diaphragm assembly to see why it's not working. Sad to say I pulled out what looked to be a brand new diaphragm, and whoever installed the thing didn't make sure the lip bead was seated in the groove properly and crushed the bead when they screwed down the cover, and then left it that way. It's been sitting in there for lord knows how long and the lip has been deformed to the point where it will no longer seal. I did pull out a used one that had a half dozen micro holes in it, gave it a shot of Plasti--Dip, and got the slide to start working, but not good enough to match the movement of the other 3. So, I trying to get this bike preped for Cody in two weeks, and I need one good assembly with no holes....fast. Anyone have a good used spare I could buy and they could priority mail it to me??
  21. The reason my '83 speedo made noise is it had loosened up at the back where the cable attached. Thought it was dry, but all it needed was to be tightened up. You might give that a try first.
  22. Click on the pic for the whole story. It's not photoshopped, and it's not a kit. Interesting story....
  23. I heard the magnets excited the molecules when taped to the gas line in a polar opposite position. And there is no such thing as area 51.....
