Randy.. rjg1985.. made up a set of inserts for me a while back. I haven't installed them yet as I only have one side on the '91 that is snafu. He also made up a license plate frame that is installed and is very cool. Pic of the insert and holder are attached. -
If it has a spark plug and runs on gas I use Sea Foam.....

I'm in Sac. Give me a call 916-487-1481 I do have a Carb-Tune but have never used it on a 2ndGen. Can't be that different?? Most of the sugestions made so far about being too tall in the gears have merit. Plus you have the dyna-tune... have you tried other settings??

That is one cool bike. Kinda reminds me of the Haight-Ashberry district during the 60's. I bet the owner doesn't have on ounce of 'self' in his... or her.. whole body..... :rotf:

If mother nature cooperates I'll be doing both the Bear's Tooth and.... Yellowstone. A group shot of all the bikes in front of Old Faithful would be very cool!!! Kurt has been checking the roads out the last couple of days and the reports coming in are very good. Next year the national might me a little closer and some us OF's will be able to make it. Been missing everyone the last couple of years.... Maybe we'll get to do that ride...

That's because 2ndGen's haven't figured out where their tech section is yet, and keep posting in the 1stGen section and the watering hole......

All these years I thought the fingers were part of the hand....??

Now this thread is getting 2b fun!!!!!!!

I realy enjoy reading and following 1stGen tech problems because I find them interesting. But..... it seems like this board is getting overwhelmed with 2ndGen tech posts. Have we.. 1stGens.. solved everything there is to solve?? Are the older 2ndGen's just getting started? Or are the 1stGens just built better? Being a pure 1stGen owner it's really getting boring around here lately....

Sounds like the onset of Carpal to me... Had the right hand done early this year, and I'm scheduled to have the left wrist done after Cody on the 27th of Oct. Had carpal symptoms equally in both hands, but while the right went dead, the left felt fine. Over the summer I started getting shooting pains down the side of my left ring finger. Damn they hurt. Plus a little numbness in the finger tips. So now I'm looking forward to getting the left done. Some things you might try doing to get a little relief. Don't tighten up the glove strap as much and loosen your watch band. If it's tight get another band or just take it off while riding. My 2 cents....

89 VR Need Rear Box Reflector
Condor replied to rmcclain's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've seen them on Ebay from time to time. They generally don't go for much. Everyone is looking for the lit model. When they find one they dump the reflector on Ebay. Email Eck and see if he might have one in the free exchange??? -
This is the first time I've ever heard of this. I know the pressure sensors are the same for all years, but the TCI's which control the advance are probably programed differently between the 83 and 84.. I'm ready to learn something. Could you explain???
-
Dan, if it's the same caliper as the 83-84 you're outta luck. Nothing will work. If your bolt pattern is 100mm,,, Not sure about the '85's..??,,,the RI calipers will work. However if your stuck, you can do what I just did to my '83. I swapped out the forks from an '86VR and used the 2001 R1 calipers. The 86 forks have electrical Anti-Dives, but the progressives were pretty stiff, so I just left them disconnected and ran the wires up into the fairing. The 83-84 forks take a caliper with a 83mm bolt spread while the 86 and up take 100mm. R1, R6, and FJR's will work. You'll also need to swap out the rotors for the later type. All in all, it makes for a very sanitary set up. I think I picked up the forks and triple tree assembly off Ebay a few years ago for around $65.00 bucks, and the R1 calipers for $25 earlier this year. Still using the pads the R1's came with... If you don't want to go thru the hassle you can pick up a set of EBC FA88H brake pads that will give you more stopping power.
