Well, 2000+ miles one way lets me out... Another National down the tubes....

Had just the opposite effect in Cody. I bled the fork pressure down as low as it would go, and didn't pump it back up when I got there. I was all over the place coming to a stop on the first ride. Thought it was the new MKII forks. Then remembered about the air pressure. Took them back up to high and everything was right with the world again... Ahhhh!

I saw that same formation while traveling across Nevada to Cody. I had a group of 7 V-Twin riders... probably all Harleys but not sure... that were runing at 75mph and they were so tight they squeeked. Side by side with less than 10' spacing, and the single drag was runing about 5'. My thought at the time was these guys are asking for it. If the one in front hic-cupped they would all have been in deep doo-doo. I suspect the same thing contributed to the accident on I-5. That's why I get upset with the request to tighten up a group ride. At that speed as far as I'm concerned they can spread out as much as they want....

The wife's OK. Sorry about not elaborating... Kidney stones. It's the third time she's been in ER with the same thing. They're finally going to go in and 'pulverize' them. They should have done it after the first time. I think they owe us a refund...

Made it back last night. I planned on staying Friday in Idaho and visiting my daughter, but while talking to Lady Condor I could tell she was a little under the weather, and in fact had to be taken to emergency later on Thursday night after we finished talking on the phone. So I got a little shut eye and left early Friday. OK, I just want to let everyone that attended the Cody Round-Up that I had a fantastic time. We didn't have as many in attendance as we'd hoped, but for those that did come I think we all had a great time. The ride through Yellowstone and watching Old Faithfull put on a show was terrific. The ride over Bear Tooth Pass was awesome even though the top was tore up with construction. The BBQ Buffalo Burger Lunch at the Cody Yamaha dealer was the best, and the group diner at the Erma was delicious. Breakfasts at 'Our Place Cafe' were a steal...er... deal. I got to put new faces with board ID's and hook up with old friends from Ft Collins. The chemistry of the group couldn't have been better. I took as many pics as I could...when I didn't forget the camera in the motel room... and posted them to a webpage. The good, the bad, and the ugly are there... The link is below. They don't begin to describe the beauty of the region. I'm going to go back as we just scratched the surface of what the Cody area has to offer. Many Thanks to Kurt 'Starstruck', and Dave 'Utaventure' for all the hard work they put in with lining up lodging, group meals, t-shirts, and Vic 'Lone Eagle', for making the very cool patches happen. For those of you that didn't make it you need to put Cody on your must ride list. ROUND-UP PICS http://www.cast-aways.com/codypics/IMGP2643%20(Medium).JPG

You can retire at 62 but Medicare is not available until your turn 65. When we... my wife and I are the same age... went on Medicare we took out suplimental with the same HMO. The premiums dropped from $925 per month for just the wife and me to $150 for both of us. I not sure how it works when there's a 12 year age difference, but I suspect your work insurance might offer a main insured suplimental with full coverage on your wife...

You and Marv take is easy. I'll be leaving a little earlier in the AM than you, but planing on doing 600+ miles on Friday since I'm yankin' a trailer. Then it's only 350 left to Cody via the West Gate. Nothings carved in stone Erv. We may be in the park?? Give me a call when you're headin' thru. 916-402-1481 If we're there we can hook up.

Geeze, I might as well toss my spin in on this subject, and the reason I find the 1stGens very confortable. First some background. I'm 6'6" and tip the scales at 3 hundred...er...somthin'. I ride one up because my wife and I on the scoot would send it to an early demise with a broken back. Here's the set up. '83 or '91,..or ?? Pick one. Without floorboards, and with highway pegs. When traveling long distances I have a duffle/sport bag that fits in the passenger seat. So, now I have the ability to ride with my feet on the pegs and my toes pointed down. It gives me a little extra leg room over the toe up with the floor boards. In this positon I can run the twisties and feel I'm more in control of the scoot. When slabbing it I can stretch one.. or two feet.. forward and lean back against the duffle and it's like sitting in by recliner. Back support and all. If one position gets a little uncomfortable I have a choice, and not locked into one position. Feet back, or feet forward, or one back and one forward. I never have a situation where I get so uncomfortable that I suffer any pain. I have a lot of riding options, and a 1stGen is the only Venture that allows me to do this.

Indian regulator/rectifier group buy
Condor replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for the write up Dan. It cleared up a couple of questions, but I still have one. I think I read somewhere in all the posts that the 'Indian' didn't get hot.... or produce heat??..., but it has some very healthy heat sinc fins. Get's me to thinkin' it might be better to mount it somewhere that has cool air flow as it does get a little toasty. Any input?? -
I'll be overnighting Friday in Shoshone ID at my daughters. Going thru yellowstone via the west gate. Will be in Cody Saturday afternoon..... See ya'll there.

Indian regulator/rectifier group buy
Condor replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Didn't we have a post that showed the wiring set up etc.... Way back in the begining of this possible group buy?? Very nicely done if I remember correctly... Here's a link with a lot of discussion about the rectifier. Maybe this will help.
