  1. Nothing poor about your language skills Squeeze. The only 'hole' I can see in your explaination is that the clutch doesn't produce enough back pressure to cause the air to compress. Brakes? You bet, but not the clutch.
  2. I don't run heated gear, but let me tell you. Earlier this month while at Cody and doing the BearTooth, my ears hurt like hel! over the top. Thought they were going to fall off... The rest of me was fine, even in Levis, a non-mesh riding jacket, and cold weather gloves. Maybe I need electrical ear muffs???
  3. I'd agree with all that Earl posted. Check that 3-wire plug first, then the recifier. I wouldn't think it's the stator because of the bikes age, and ruining cooler than the early 1200cc's. Resistense will cause the voltage to be reduced. My '83 and '91 both put out about 14.2vdc.
  4. Your battey is dead. Put it on a charger. When your bike is idling it isn't putting out AMPs to the battery. You need it to get over 2000rpm before the stator will start charging.
  5. But why?? I've posted reasons why it won't, but I'm always open to learn something new...
  6. Not really.... As long as the board is open for anyone to peruse, even for a short period of time, any ideas are fair game....
  7. We do have a member listed from Morristown TN. He's listed as an expired member riding a Suzuki. [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=2426]VentureRider.Org[/ame] 2426
  8. I've noticed that the lock on mine is pretty flimsy too. I think I'll try some WD40 or dry lube on the thing. Maybe that'll avoid future problems?? It also didn't appear to be very tightly mounted. I'll address that too when I reemove all the piled junk off it...
  9. Thanks for doing this. I know a lot of work went into the project... Got 'm stowed away....
  10. I thought the dues were mandatory after a certain period of freebe time.
  11. I've seen this method posted on this board many times, but what I can't understand is how this helps purge air from the lines?? When the lever is pulled in just a tad it moves the compression cup and seals off the expansion hole as it moves past, and there isn't anywhere for the air to go. I would think that leaving the piston out would allow the air to escape... I even tried it to no avail when I first rebuilt a master, and tried to bleed the system. Can someone explain why it works....??
  12. Very Cool!! and I'm jealous, but I think I'd put the trunk back on. Never can have enough stowage space, and a back rest for the passenger would be nice....
  13. I bet I've listened to that a 100 times and still get goose bumps.....
  14. I think it cost the wife and I around $850 per. The kids were half price. The shore 'tours' ran another 5-600, and it could have been a lot more but we were frugal. We drove up to Seattle from Sacramento. Stayed over night in Oregon. All in all it worked out to be a lot cheaper than flying 4 people. If it'd been close in cost we would have flown... Now with this economy all sorts of 'Deals' are being bandied about so shop.. shop..shop....
  15. That mental image is way too funny!!......
  16. Geeze, don't get your knickers in a twist and lighten up. I made a comment and it was tongue-in-cheek. I'm not trying to usurp your expertise in the area of manufacturing in-work costs, but I've been dealing with manufactures in M&M for over 45 years and have pick up a few tid-bits of info during that time. Manufactures modify production components and parts all the time. It's not unusual. Not even for Yamaha. The 1stGen is a good example of that. Where they did get stuck in the mud is with the 2ndGen. To think that they are still buying components thru outsourcing to keep a production run unchanged is a fantasy, and paying more for the part because it's obsolete is a well. Believe me when I say they bought a bunch of the integrated com systems and still have a shelf full of them is the main reason they are not improving the part.
  17. Be my guest.......

    Cody 2010

The planing committee of this years Round-Up Cody have tossed around a couple of different places for Round-Up 2010, but we've been waiting for the National to finalize a date so we won't conflict. Once the National's been settled we'll start getting serious.... This year when we went over the BearTooth pass and there was a ton of construction going on, and we weren't able to stop at the top for the 'hero' pics. We did get some great stuff at rest stops before and after, but missed the big panoramas.... You might want to check on road conditions before planing your trip.
  19. I'll second that. NCL is a fun cruise with their 'Freestyle' theme. We did the Carribian 5 years ago with NCL and it was a hoot!! The family did Alaska with Celebrity 3 years ago and it sucked. The on-shore activities were great, but the on-board was boring as 'H'. The wife is leaving friday for a Mexico Cruise on NCL for her 50th HS Reunion. I volunteered to watch the kids while she's gone. She's taking all our older girls with here so there's no one around to call in case I go bananas.....
  20. I love Harley's..... They're so tiny and cute.... :rotfl:
  21. They don't give a damn. The buyer is still paying the freight. Too bad it's not an option and the buyer could pass on it.... As far as in cost goes, they're just dumping old stock that wouldn't be able to get rid of otherwise...
  22. The R1's from about 1999 to 2003 are a direct bolt on for the MarkII's. On the MKI's you will need to swap out the forks and rotors with MKII's.
  23. I like Silver...Corvettes, n' Black Cherry... Stratoliners, n' Black..... RSV's... OR is it Black Cherry RSV's and Black Corvettes...., and Silver Strats??? I'm so confused....
  24. I'd suggest taking an old 1gen collector and matching the position of the ports on the bench. Can't be all that difficult. Anyone have a worn out collector?? I even wonder if it's neccessary to use the two mounting bolts that the oem collector uses. As far as using a second gen for a model the exhaust runs outboard on the 2gen and inboard on the 1gen. They even had to change the exhaust port angle out of the heads for the redesign.
