'04 Venture Fairing
Condor replied to Sideoftheroad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The fairing probably came off a RSTD. It's an aftermarket batwing. Actually for the price it's a pretty good deal. New these things are in the $700 and up range. -
Triple tree swap 1200 and 1300????
Condor replied to Holgi's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have a triple tree from a 1988 available. I don't think there's a compatability difference between the MkI and the MkII, but I don't know for sure. Anyone know for sure?? I have shipped to Europe, so if you're interested $100US plus shipping via USPS International Priority. LMK.... -
With '83 runners selling in the $1300 to $1600 range, I wouldn't give more than $300 bucks for it. No telling what the real problem is, and it might be 2nd gear?? If it is second gear???......$150 - $200. It's a real gamble so be kind to yourself...
-
Yep... got the 500 to 1T on the shopping list. Going over to Fry's later on this morning.... I do have one question. With something that big how does it effect access time??
-
Well..........?? Did you buy it??? I'm starting to get serious.... Heh..Heh.. I see someone bought it...
-
Yeah, instead of the cash register going 'ka-ching' it goes 'ka-bling'....
-
With a trike I would think delink would be the way to go since the rear brake system is totally different.... and bigger. Run the rear master without the valve. It might be big enough to handle a couple of larger calipers. Good luck on triking the '90....

The problem here is I don't have the setup CD's. Thank you DELL. And now since the warantee has expired they want to charge $ even to talk to them. I think the best way to do this is to pick up another HD, as friesman1 and tx2sturgis suggested, and use the old drive as a slave. I'll need to call Mike and find out if he's started saving files yet. The HD in there now is an 80g and about half full, so maybe another 80?? or what ever I can find on sale...

Thanks Buddy. I just waved goodby to the CPU. It's off to my son-in-laws for a couple of days. He's the family sys-op. Didn't realize how addicted I was to that thing... Am going thru withdrawl now....

Trouble is we can't read anything past that config file. Can't access anything on the drive until it has an OS. Even the repair won't work until windows is booted. Can we install Linux and retain the programs and work files??
-
I gather the config part is where all the personal settings arre, and it won't let you go any farther until it finds that file.... Locks up tighter than a frogs rear end.... i think I'm going to end up re-installing windows XP. we have a way to save the work files and pics...
-
Just tried that and it's still snafu. Unless it can find that system file in the hive it won't let you get any farther. In this case it's the Black Screen of Death.
-
Not a good sign. My son-in-law has a gizmo where you can plug the hard drive into another computor's USB and treat it as a slave and write all the working files to CD's I wonder if doing that first and then reinstalling Windows would lessen the pain??
-
This is the wifes computor. I'm locked out mine. Can't boot it up. We had a ton of dropped power today due to the big storm that hit California, and the last time I tried to reboot the system I get this "\windows\system32\config\system is corrupt or missing" It goes on to tell me to stick the original setup CD in... which I never had... and hit 'r' for repair. The thing came from DELL with windows XP Media already loaded. Any ideas???

And I wouldn't screw around. Take the BIN. If you don't, I will.... Gotcha!!! Just kidding

Need help dealing with a fuel leak
Condor replied to bobcat's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When added directly to the fuel I can see where Sea Foam might have an edge, but for straight dipping Coleman Fuel might be the answer to an empty pocket book. The only thing alchohol does is act as a catalyst between the water and gas, allowing the two to mix and the mixture to be run thru the combustion cycle. The lubricant could be anything. A teaspoon of kerosine in the Coleman Fuel will probably be sufficient. Has anyone bought a gallon of Colemean Fuel lately... price?? -
You're welcome Tony. Had a great time. Someone new to listen to all my old corney stories.... Right now I'm just trying to keep all the covers from blowing off in this storm. Just heard something crash outside the office... gotta go check...

Need help dealing with a fuel leak
Condor replied to bobcat's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Me Too!! Are we talking about 'Coleman'?? Might work better as a carb dip too. Sea Foam is good, but it's expensive. I wonder if the fuel could be used instead of SF???
