Don't think it's possible using the board email function. It might be possible to take a pic of the chart and post that to the thread using the manage attachments function???- 2 replies

Just wondering.... Years ago I bought a brand new VW Rabbit. It started using oil almost from the git-go. When I took it in the VW dealer service dept said it needed a heavier oil, and that did stop it til right after it went out of warantee.. I knew I'd been snookered but by then there wasn't much I could do about it. So I just kept adding oil and changing the filter. Never did another oil change. Drove it for 150,000 miles that way. Anyway fast forward about 6 or 7 years and I receive a notice in the mail that VW America was being sued by the FTC because VW knew the problem existed but instructed the dealers to lie to the owners about what the problem really was, and not fix it. Which was a faulty valve angle in the head design. The FTC won their case and VW had to recall every car and make it right. In my case instead of fixing the problem I just cashed out and VW wrote me a check for $1800. About half of what it would cost to have a dealer R&R a rebuilt engine. So.... my point is, perhaps Yamaha is doing the same thing, and maybe it's going to take more than getting an 'I' basket, but rather a class action to get resolve???

Just go pick up a new Venture starter off Ebay, put it in, and be done with it. A 2 brush will work just fine....

With all the MAC's that have been put on there's gotta be a couple of nice OEM sets floating around out there.... -
Congrats......

Very nice.... I used to make lots of sawdust, but now I collect VR parts... Still enjoy an older piece brought back to life....

I toss in a whole can to 5 gals. when starting an engine that's been sitting for a couple of years. A couple of ozs. to a full tank when the bike is riden regularly will do. Maybe half a can to a full tank over the winter.

I've heard reference to that before... can't remember where or who... it's been a couple of years ago.... I wonder if the limiter is electronic in the TCI, or is it really valve float???

Doesn't look like any rack I've ever seen before. I think they fed you some wrong info....

Just for the heck of it disconect the battery for about 15 minutes and then hook it back up again. When you first start the motor it won't idle to well, but after a few minutes the computor will reset itself and things will improve.... Sometimes the computor get's confoosed....

That looks neat!! Kinda pricy for what it is, but worth thinking about... http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/4/65/4925/ITEM/K-L-MC25-Metric-Engine-Stand.aspx

Early.... Had someone in the area fire up his Nasty Boys and woke everybody up in a 3 mile radius.... Grrr!!! I was waiting...no hoping... I'd hear gun fire, but no such luck.... I think splitting the case is way more than I want to get involved in so it's not a big deal if I can't while on the stand. Actually if it comes to that I'd go motor shopping... That's what got me to thinkin in the first place. I just picked up a new2me '91 and plan on tricking the thing out with gaskets, seals, polished side and valve covers, and painted block. Thought it might be easier doing this stuff on a motor stand...

I wonder if using one of the old Venture frames you could make some sort of cradle??
-
Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking but hoping I was wrong.... Sideways and aluminum might not be able to handle the stress?? Sure would be nice to be able to turn the thing over and work on the bottom without having to flip it on a bench...

Any body ever mounted a Venture engine on one of those engine stands?? I've used them for big V8's before so I know the stand will handle the weight. What I'm wondering is will the V4 mounting holes withstand the torque??? Just looking for info from someone who's been there... Thanks.. I'm also on the hunt for an engine hoist. I'm getting too old to be lifting heavy stuff any longer. I'm finding I need to call someone to help with the lifting more and more often....
