  1. Wishing youse guys health and happiness in 2010....
  2. I think they depend on folks reporting the traps when they see them.... Good idea, but it's only as good as folks being active.

So what happened to the '91? Your profile says you're riding a '92.... There's gotta be a story here somewhere...
  4. I just ran into this website. Don't know how accurate it is, but it might be worth looking at before running up to the Dairy Queen.... http://www.speedtrap.org/
  5. WOW!!!!! Powerfull.... I'm forwarding this one to all my cager friends... Thanks.
  6. Picked this up off the web. I've heard of it before. Hydrogen peroxide for foot fungus is one of the common home remedies for this affliction. It is a common household disinfectant, long used to clean minor cuts and scratches, and even popular for disinfecting cutting boards and kitchen utensils. Intuitively, it makes sense that it might be good for killing fungus. This article discusses the use of hydrogen peroxide as a home cure for fungal infections of the feet, and also describes several alternative home remedies that are used in similar ways. If you have foot fungus, read on. It's quite common to have both athlete's foot and nail fungus: infection often starts in the nails and spreads to the surrounding skin and between the toes. Or, it may begin on the skin, particularly in the crevice between the toes where conditions are warm and often damp, then progress to the nails. Whichever way it goes, you can choose a fungal remedy to treat both at once. Popular home remedies include soaking the feet in vinegar, dilute bleach, or hydrogen peroxide for foot fungus. Hydrogen peroxide for foot fungus may work, although scientific studies have not been done to confirm its usefulness. Use a 3% solution, as the stronger preparations are less safe and may cause skin reactions. Approaches include soaking in the peroxide, wiping onto the affected areas several times daily, or spraying it on and allowing it to dry. It is likely to produce results much faster for athletes foot fungus than for a nail infection. On thing is undeniable: as a foot fungus remedy, it is one of the cheapest. Ordinary white vinegar is very affordable as well, and is perhaps a more popular treatment than hydrogen peroxide for foot fungus. The approach here is to soak the feet for 20 to 30 minutes every day until the problem clears up. If you have the time for this foot fungus remedy (you could do it while watching the news or reading the paper), this would treat both athletes foot, and fungal nails.
  7. On the side of the battery there's usually a letter and number. The letter stands for the month, and the number is the year... A03 would be Jan 2003, B02 would be Feb 2002, etc....

    I liked that.....
  9. I'm not sure if the Barnet's are any better than new OEM?? By the time anyone gets around to replacing the clutch springs the originals have lost a lot of their rebound, and any fresh spring will be better than what's in there. However.... the Barnets run around $20 bucks. I'm not sure what the OEMs run.... too lazy to look... but I bet the way Yamaha is pricing things lately they're gonna run more than that??...
  10. Being a cheap SOB I bought a GPS off of WOOT.com for less that a $100 bucks. Since I don't need to be intertained while riding... the ride is intertaining enough, and I know where I'm going...most of the time ... I figured for what little use I get out of it, MPH, miles covered, etc. it didn't make sense to have $400-500 bucks sitting on the bike. The only drawback to the cheaper units I have found is the ability to see the screen in sunlight. Something that even the expensive units don't have. My suggestion if you plan on spending the big buck$ make sure the GPS is motorcycle friendly....
  11. Man I feel for ya Don. From a fellow gout sufferer, currently living on Alky Plus. Achoo!!! Look at it this way.... you can still type....
  12. The last time I stopped in at my local battery dealer to check the batts because starting was getting a little slow on the F250 Diesel, I had to replace them. They laughed when I started to complain about them not lasting, and then pointed out that they were 8 years old.....
  13. I don't think there is an airflow restriction caused by the tank cover, but I guess the only way to know for sure would be to connect a vacuum gauge to the airbox somehow and see if there's a difference with the tank cover on or off. My '83 is runing fine with the K&N and MACs so I don't care.

  16. That plastic connector is nothing more than a vacume pulse smoother outer . Smooths out the vacume pulse to the sensor. It also can become clogged and cut way back on sensor response... My 2¢
  17. I had the dim or no low beam on the '83, and planned on doing the resolder.... someday?? But since I don't do much riding at night I kept putting it off, and adjusted the high beam down and put the resolder on the back burner. BTW a new bulb didn't help. I didn't really like the finish of the dash as it looked like it had been repainted and the white lettering job wasn't the greatest in the world. So I popped for a very low mile dash assembly off Ebay and R&R'd the whole dash. I now have hi/low beam which I still don't use very much. On the CLASS system E4 code. You may be able to dodge the resolder job. Sounds more like all you have is a dirty or bent plug contact if it works when applying pressure to the plug. You might try cleaning the contacts with CRC 26 electrical contact cleaner, and do a visual on the alignment. If everything looks good and it still doesn't work, you may indeed have a cold solder joint. The controller comes apart easily. Just resolder the power leads from the plug to the board. The E4 should go away.
  18. There is movement in the spline. Every time the rear suspension works up and down the spline will move in and out of the u joint. As the lube dries out the spline teeth and cogs will start to wear. Although very minute there is a bunch, unless you're riding on an absolutely smooth surface, and we all know that ain't gona happen.. Hope this helps...
  19. The only singer that I feel comes close to Joplin for grit is Melissa Etheridge. This cut used to be a stand alone on youtube, but now it's being marketed by Vivo... what ever that is?? Still plays, and great to listen to.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDpJRI7CocU]YouTube- Melissa Etheridge - I'm The Only One[/ame]
  20. I bought some in Ft Collins in '07 and put it in the '83 for the trip back. With the temps we were having I figured anything would help keep the engine temp down. It did work a bit, dropping the needle a couple of widths on the guage while riding in 105 degs all day. When I flushed the cooling system last year I added 2-3 cap fulls (recomended) just because and the needle stays about midway up the scale a lot longer than it did before. Is it my imagination or does it really work?? I really don't care as long as my brain thinks it does...
  21. I've seen Festival Express on... I think.... the local PBS station. Great documentary..
  22. I just checked out the Superbrace site and was blown away by the retail price of their 1stGen braces. $143.95. WOW!! I just want to let 1stGen'rs know that I still have group buy fork braces left for $60 bucks. The price just keeps getting better as long as SB keeps raising theirs..... Is it too early to get the scoot ready for spring???
  23. I know a lot of people don't care for her type of music, and I don't know why I'm attracted to it... I guess it's that in your face.. let it all hang out style?? Bobby Mcgee, Cry Baby. Love the stuff. Ran across this on youtube. WOW!! IMHO.... JANIS JOPLIN
  24. If there's a need to pull the rods it can be done using one of those slim pencil magnets that extend like an antenna. Also be very carefull not to loose the ball that fits between the short and long rod. Also be carefull that when reinstalling the rods to make sure that rod ends, that have a slight flat surface, go against the ball. Otherwise the ball will want to slip off the rounded tip and cause binding.
  25. Ditto on the Pledge....
