  1. It all depends on whether the back rest was made by Ventureline or Markland. Most of the MKI back rests are Markland as Yamaha didn't get on the accessory bandwagon right away. The Venturelines have a rotating disc attachment while the Marklands do not.
  2. It is a rare disease, but a few of us are afflicted.... :rotf:
  3. I saw that. It's the second time he's listed it. The last time he had a $500 opening bid. I guess he's trying to get the $500 a different way. It's about 100mi south of me, but not interested in even looking at it. I think I'm maxed out on VR's right now.
  4. Awesome use of steriods.......
  5. Be patient on the Ebay search. This time of year Ebay doesn't have a lot to chose from. Things will start to heat up around March.
  6. Didn't feel that quake at all here in Sacramento, but I heard they did feel it up in Reno. The windshield and chrome strip can be found on Ebay and are fairly common, but that fairing is rarer that chicken lips. I know. I searched for well over a year before finding one in that color. Repair would be easier. From the looks of it, most of the fairing damage is in the black area, and even though a black paint won't match excately you'd have to get really close to tell the difference. If I can help in any way give me a shout. My bad. I thought from the initial look at your bike it was a '90-'91. Those '86 fairings shoiw up a little more on the used market. Let us know how the insurance plays out.
  7. No, The mounting brackets are different between an 83-85, and the 86-93's.
  8. If you have a Standard the speakers are already in the dash even though there isn't a radio/intercom/tape installed. I'd suggest installing a good marine AM/FM/CD, with an MP3 jack, where the tape deck usually sits in a Royale. I've seen some really nice installs done. There is also a flip open cover available to keep things weather proof. WEST MARINE

  12. For $15 bucks it's a deal..!! For all those who don't know their code it's on the back side of the ignition switch for 1stGens. Not sure about a 2ndGen?? The switch is a PITA to remove but it can be done. Trying to get it with a mirror is impossible due to dirt etc. and the number is very small... plus all the wires. But if you don't have a clue, it's a lot cheaper than replacing all the locks... It's what I had to do on the '90. The blank code is also there. There are about 6 different blank codes. A-F If I remember correctly. I used to have a pic of a key and the backside of a spare switch, but it was lost in the great HD crash a few months ago.
  13. Randy, any idea what he charges ?? The last key I had made off the code cost me $25...
  14. If anyone needs to by-pass the thermostat all they have to do is turn the drainvalve on. No need to pull the possible bad thermo out for the time being. You'll have more trouble during the hot months without a thermostat. Circulation of the coolant will be too fast thru the radiator for cooling to be efficient and effective.
  15. Spoken like a true liberal......
  16. I live on the edge and only have one key. Geeze guys, where's your sense of adventure.....
  17. My deepest sympathies.... 85 degrees warmer here. Local temp's 45.

  19. When I tried 15-40 Rotella in the '83 it started leaking somewhere?? I went back to MC Valvoline 20-50 and it stopped. I not saying Rotella isn't a good oil, but the '83 just couldn't hold it. I have the same problem occassionally....
  20. Good luck. I checked with 2 or 3 major insurers when thinking about buying a salve bike, The story was aways the same. The bike had no value. They'd insure me, but not the bike since it had already been written off. Maybe it's different for a salve car?? Have you ever made a claim on a salve. I suspect you may not fair too well with the claims dept even if you'd been paying a damage premium.
  21. Yeah, she was a cutie.....
  22. The problem with insuring a salve title is that you can get liability, but since the bike has already been totaled most company's won't issue anything that will cover bike damage.
  23. Dang, I knew that.... If the tire fits you must acquit... Maybe running a 15" wheel would be better than swapping out the final?? And there's one on Ebay right now
