  1. I have the trailer to pick it up, but no place to store it out of the weather. If you'd like to pick up the tab on a mini-storage unit until you can get here I could arrange that. Just put a cover on it and lock'r up....?? I could also toodle on down to Napa and take pics and post a report if need be.
  2. YUP!! Just about as rare as chicken lips, but not quite.... Actually I just looked at the Venture Line Brochure and they are not listed... and if I remember right I saw a set on a Wing?? Still rare though...
  3. Don't need anything, but good luck on the auction....
  4. I replaced the Slave on the '83 with a new one from Buckeye. The difference between the rebuild kit and a new one at the time was about 25 bucks, and at the recommendation from Rick I went that route. On removing the slave it will come out the side. No need to drop the exhaust. The trick is that it needs to be rotated upside down to clear the shift linkage. Same thing when installing. Put it in upside down and rotate as it's inserted. What the deal is is the tab ear can't clear the rod if the slave is pulled straight out, but will 'jump' over the rod when rotated. As Micarl said the stator wires have to be shoved out of the way.
  5. With 25,000 on it I doubt there's going to be many issues.... if any. The seller did mention replacing the CMU. I wonder if the seller is a dealer. He mentions owning 50 bikes...??? And wonder what the reserve is?? I didn't notice the reserve when I first viewed the auction, and I was looking for one. Probably edited the listing.
  6. Saw this one on Ebay this morning. It's only 70 miles from me in Napa if someone needs it checked out. There's not too many left in this condition. VENTURE ROYALE
  7. Buy him an '83 or '84 first generation VR and take the saddles and trunk off.....
  8. The K&N shouldn't. Been runing one on the '83 and '87 without any problems...
  9. Start taking those power walks....
  10. I've found that when bleeding the brakes, don't pump them up hard before starting to get the air out of the system. With Speed-Bleeders it's a lot easier to purge air out of the lines when the cavity of the caliper is smaller with the pistons compressed. When I installed the R1's on the '83 I kinda discovered this. Instead of flushing out the larger volume, a smaller area seems to work much better... and faster. Once the air is out then pump them up hard.
  11. I have a Beckman floating around here somewhere??, but most of the time I use one of those meters from HF. They can be had for $1.99 on sale, and for that price I can keep one on every bike. MULTIMETER
  12. I thought the game was great. Very intertaining. Didn't think the Saints were going to get'r done, but they did. Hats off to them. Now that the monkey is off their back they're gonna be a force to reckon with in the NFL. I rmember another team like that... the 49'ers....
  13. I've used Google Maps from time to time when buying or taking a check just to see who or what I'm dealing with. I received one check for payment written on a check without any personal ID preprinted on it. The name and address were hand written in the top corner. I did the search and found the address was a vacant lot on a street that I wouldn't want to be on after sunset. Tore the check up and round filed it....
  14. The standard height of a 1stGen windshield is 22". I have one on the '91 that's 18" and wider. Don't know who made it?? The jury's still out on how it preforms. I'm 6'6" and look over everything....
  15. Interesting. Here's the website of Get Routed... http://www.getrouted.com.au/
  16. Maybe pick one up that's shorter and wider with a vent?? The vent will lessen the low pressure buffeting..... ??

  18. Yeah, that's what I kinda thought too.....

  20. Just for the heck of it, take the clutch presure plate off and try the lever again with finger pressure on the rod tip. If the rod moves in and out freely your problem isn't with the master or slave. If the lever is still stiff then the problem is in the master/slave hydralics. Also just for the heck of it, while you have the plate off, take one of those pencil thin 'lost nut retreaver' magnets. Kinda looks like an antenna with a small gimbled magnet on the end. They have them at auto supply stores. With this you can remove the rods and ball without having to push them through from the slave side. The rods and ball are steel and the surrounding block is aluminum, so it will work. Examine the rods and ball for any damage. Nicks, burrs, bent.... Any damage, replace them or they will bind. If they're OK then put them back in, but before sticking them in, inspect the rod tips. One tip will have a slightly flattened surface. This tip goes against the ball. Both rods have one flattened end. Assuming the hydralics are OK, double check the positioning of notches on the discs and plates are all alligned, and then replace the pressure plate making sure it's installed in the correct position. It only fits on one way. Keep rotating it untill the plate settles down on the disc pack. I'm suspecting that you have the pressure plate installed in the wrong position. If there isn't any return pressure on the slave the fluid will build up pressure and not let the excess fluid return to the reserve. Anyway check all these things out and I bet your clutch will be working again.... Here's a couple picks that may help. It's a barnet clutch plate but it fits the same way. 21. I feel your pain Don. Been there.. Instead of taking anything for the PITLBT I've been trying to control it by diet and lots of water. So far so good except I have to pee a lot... Motrin will help cut down the swelling when things get really bad. What I've been wondering is if it's crystals in the joints why can't they lance the area... can't hurt any worse... and liposuck the stuff out... Better than cutting the big toe off... pain makes you creative thinking up stupid ideas...
  22. Did you remove the push rods and ball while you were in there. If you did you might have reinstalled them wrong. On the rods there's a small flat spot on one end. It goes against the ball. Otherwise the rods will bind when pressure is applied. You might also have assembled the basket nut out of sequence. Don't ask me how I know that...
  23. If I only had the bucks I'd be there... Sorry about the one 'n' in Annie. Dang keyboard drops the second letter if I hit the key too fast. Didn't notice the misspell until it was too late....
  24. In the original tool kit, supplied with the bike when new, there's a spark plug tool that works just fine. Some of the guys use a thin wall 15mm or 18mm socket??, but I've never been able to find one. If you didn't get the OEM kit there are 2ndGen tool kits available on Ebay. I've picked up a couple pretty cheap. The plug socket will fit all years of the Venture 1st and 2nd... The 2ndGen kit doesn't come with a lot of the tools that were supplied with the 1stGen, but it makes a good basic kit to build on.
