OK, Lots of advise here. I just have one question.. and it may be a stupid one.... are you sure that the master piston cup is installed in the right direction??
-
I'm curious. If you just smell coolant, and the pressure test looked good, the only place that coolant can come from, that is not pressurized, is the overflow line or the coolant bottle. Have you checked them for leaks? Also a bad radiator cap can also cause excessive coolant to boil out into the bottle. Maybe??

86 project ? is part needed?

This question came up once before, and I think Squeeze confirmed it added to the overall integrity of the frame.. I used to have a great pic of a VR chopper, but I lost it in the HD crash a few months ago. I think?? it ran without the stringers. -
Got any weight on it?? Most will pump up. but without anything pushing down it'll just stay in the up position. Anyone remember if it's one of those models you have to push the pedal all the way down, for it to drop gradually. Otherwise it'll scare the 'H' out of you when it's only pressed lightly and drops at sonic speed.... ?????

Received an email notice about a Motorcycle dealer closeout auction in Chicago. Anyone in the area might want to stop by and see if there's anything that's interesting. Chicago Sports & Cycle Honda/Kawasaki Closeout Auction For anyone out of the area there'll be stuff available for bidding online via Proxibid... I've never bid on anything thru Proxibid. Tried once but they have too high a percentage load, so I passed. I still get their notices which are interesting to read. There are a couple of new Yamaha twins in the mix...

Yesterday I took a look at the pics I previously posted and wondered just how many VentureLine accessories were on the '91. Surprisingly there's a bunch. The only items that aren't on the bike are the chrome speaker grills, and the chrome intake vents on the uppers. And I have both of those pieces on the '83. Someone asked me if the list was complete and I indicated that I thought so. But.... after thinking a bit the pics are from '90, and I know that they made woodgrained dash and panel covers for the VR's in later years. The only bike I've ever seen with a complete set of woods is Daveg90's 1stGen in Ft Collins in '07. There might be other additions as well. I sure wish someone had a later brochure..... -
Since spring is just around the corner I just wanted to remind 1stGen'rs, and let new members know, that I still have 1stGen performance fork braces available. The ad is buried in the classifieds, and here's the LINK. Super Brace gets $143.00 + shipping for theirs. Ours are $60/$70C. If that don't motivate ya nothing will..... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/data/6/large/classified11.jpg

Did you know that the 2ndGen valve cover gasket will fit the 1stGen?? So even though the dealer may be out of the 1st he might have the 2nd....
-
Geeze Rick, after your bout with the I basket you're still going back to the dealer?? Are you a masochist?? There are a bunch of aftermarket windshield makers. What are you thinking??? :rotf:

Jerry, Just make sure you have the cash in hand before planing any delivery's. I'm always leery of people saying they're acting for someone out of the country. If they want to send you a check for more than you want for the bike....RUN!! And No COD's. What's the problem with the guy picking up the bike and riding it where ever he want's once he gets here?? Just don't let that bike out of your sight until you see the green.....

The shipping might be slow, but everything they sell costs $5 bucks to ship. Whether it's a brown bag, or a 65" plasma TV. So they can take all the time they want. Its worth the visit just to read their tongue-in-cheek discription of each days Woot. I bet it's a fun place to work....

Yep. Check it the first thing in the AM after reading the mail. I've picked up a couple of nice buys. Super buys are usually gone by 1am. Although not much of that happening lately. Sign of the times.....

We have a local called Metro. Sounds just like your Cricket. I have her (14+) on the family plan with unlimited texting. Each month we get our bill and it's about 1" thick. She's pretty good about talking..... After I turned off her phone for about 5 days because she burnt up all our family plan minutes. MOF I had to do it twice before she got the picture..

Looks like the Motorola Tundra might be one to search for. Sounds fairly bullet proof. Thanks for the idea...

Dang Earl, thanks for the lead. Yamaha sure is proud of their's. I'm off to Kawasaki to pick up a few sets for my stash....

Yeah, I've run into that before on my son's phone, and thought it was just a basic freebe phone, but all the AT&T phones do use simms... at least in my price range... . I think T-Mobile does also. It seems like when I find one that's unlocked for AT&T, T-Moble is also included...

That diaphragm is one assembly, and what's happened is the brass keeper has worked it way loose and the whole thing has come apart. It can be put back together and if you deform the brass keeper enough it will stay in. I've run into a couple of them that have done this. You might check the others as well. If you have trouble getting the diaphragm lip back into the groove try boiling it in water for 10-15 minutes. Makes them more plyable, and they seem to stretch a bit.... BTW to check for holes in the diaphragms hold them up to bright sunlight...

What Earl said, plus a plug that's only firing occasionally causing the backfiring. These V4's will run pretty good on 3 cylinders.... You might also want to check the vacume bib caps for cracks and air leaks.

Once the original contract runs out the service just continues until you upgrade your phone, then it's another 2 years. Buy a better unlocked phone and stick in the simms, and you're good to go without a contract. My last Nokia got wet, and I must admit I bought another basic model off Ebay, and stuck in the card. Eventually they.. i guess... pinged the phone and picked up the new model and changed the account to reflect the new equipment. I really don't care about all the glitzy features. Just the basics. I did find a NIB Nokia the same as mine in... pink..natch... for $69.95 on Ebay that I'm going to toss a bid at. I feel much more comfortable buying NOS then some refurb or used phone.
