  1. Maybe it's just me, or an optical illusion, but that pic straight on from the back looks to me like the tire isn't lined up with the bags and frame??? Plus the lugage rack is missing. Rear ended??? http://i.ebayimg.com/02/!BnT(ZywBWk~$(KGrHqUH-EEEts(TTvHWBLi-,Pdmgg~~_3.JPG
  2. Not getting over 80-85mph sounds like you're running on three cylinders??? On the high idle. Back off the right/left sync screw a bit and see what happens. It may screwed in so much that your idle is actually being controlled by #3 and #4 carbs instead of #2. There's two screws on the right side of the carb assembly. Back the aft one out a bit and see what happens.
  3. That was cool........
  4. I think they're pretty nice looking. Since most of us are shade tree's out of neccessity, and don't drag up and move from job to job, not being built like a tank doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Roller bearing drawers, and lots of space for do-dads are. Besides, $600-$800 for one of the SS's vs. $2500-$3000 for a Snap-On or Mac of the same size makes the SS hard to walk away from.....
  5. Put the bike in first gear with the clutch in, rock back onto the rear wheel and let the clutch out just as the rear wheel touches the ground. This will pop the bike off the stand. Kinda a finess thing. I have to rock my '83 a few times to get it to go, and I'm not small and the air is at max, so I understand where you're coming from.
  6. Shoot Brad... Ask him if he'd like to practice on another.....
  7. Stick around Dell.... there'll be lots more....
  8. OK, Here's an easy way to tell the 1stGen MKI model year no matter what the vin # is. No checking the wiring. No tearing into anything to check vacume lines. As long as the bike is stock and not modified, here's the rules of the road. First off, if the bike has removable saddle bags it's a 1stGen MKI. If the dash doesn't have a dimmer knob it's an '83. If it does have a dash dimmer knob, and has a choke like the first pic attached, it's an '84. (only year like this) If it has a dimmer knob, but a slider choke like the second pic, it's an '85. I know the '85 has a larger trunk, but without something to compare it to, it sometimes can be deceiving. So using the comparisons above you can walk up to any 1stGen MKI and imediately ID the model year without having to do a thing. Hope this helps....
  9. I'd say if it's just been this last tire, it's the tire......
  10. Good idea, but I'd keep a watchful eye on the reserve while doing it......
  11. You may not get any restitution, but you can still file feedback. As the winner of the auction you can also request contact information thru Ebay. Give that a shot and call them directly. Also if you paid with a credit card thru 'ProPay' you can file a dispute with your card company.

    CB Radio

No antenna load on that CB when transmitting will blow the finals. If it doesn't work when you get things hooked up, take it to the dealer that you bought it from and have them replace the CB.....

    CB Radio

I was going to say that too, but it's been a long time since I've had one in my hands and didn't want it to look like I'd taken a stupid pill......
  14. Congrats Canada.... Great game... :clap2:
  15. Nertz!! Missed that one..... Been loooking for a flip head set.... Oh well....
  16. It would be interesting to find out what parts don't fit. Pics would be a big help. Especially the LH grip and choke area. The VIN# indicates '83, but there were a few of the 84 models that were built and delivered prior to 84, that were assigned '83 Vins And.... welcome to the board...
  17. Glad to hear someone scored Jerry....
  18. I've only watched one complete Hockey Game in my life... That time around we beat the Russians. Todays game will be the second. Don't like hockey all that much.... Silly game!!
  19. Well the trailer looks aerodynamic.... Can't say much about the scoot..... Just starting to get even....:rotf:
  20. That's gonna look cool. You might as well go with the boost too.... That's where a lot of your performance will come from...
  21. I understood what you were doing. What I didn't know was your plan to use the MKII carbs, and a need to change out the TCI because of it. I'm wondering if the '83 carbs would have performed just as well without having to change the TCI?? Are you doing the cams as well??
  22. I don't understand why you'd need to change out the TCI?? I sold my spare '88 motor to Kurt (Gone14s) last year, and he pulled the '84 1200...bad 2nd... and stuck in the '88. Kept everything original '84...even the carbs. Ran like a champ..
  23. Received an email about Yamaha and Daytona. Apparently they haven't given up on racing yet. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/emailview.asp?p=337 First time I've ever received anything like this.....

    Swap meet

Large swaps are OK if you have deep pockets, but paying $10 bucks to get in is a deal breaker. I do a lot of the local marine gear swaps during the summer, but we had a local store that put on a pretty nice smaller MC swap a couple of times a year. Picked up some great stuff. Kuryakyn highway pegs with offsets like new for $5 bucks a set off a.... Harley. I actually found some VR parts.... can't remember what they were, or if I even had a chance to use them....yet... but I do remember buying them for next to nothing. The best part it was free for the seller as well as the buyer. They even had a free Tri-Tip BBQ for those who signed up for their email list. Fun times... Heck I even set out a small card table and sold a bell helmet... So they can keep the big ones. I'll stick with the freebe's....
  25. Man, I got the heeby-jeeby's just watching that.....
