    YikeBike

Received this from my brother in Mt. Found it interesting. Maybe others will too. http://www.yikebike.com/site/gallery/video/yikebike-discovery-channel
  2. I just received a couple of messages back from the seller, and he's not much help. Says the bags are aftermarket, and insists it's a 2000 and 98hp. I did find the website that mentions a 'Boulevard' being offered in 2000, but I'm wondering if they were only left over '99's that were dusted off and marketed differently to get them out the door?? If they... Yamaha.. actually did put out a retro styled RSTD and called it the Boulevard it's a rare bike indeed, and I really like it. I'm going to ask the seller for the actual Vin#. That will eliminate any guessing.
  3. I donno?? I like the looks of it, but what throws me is the 74hp in the discription. It looks more like a 96-97 classic... Not a 2000. I dropped the seller a note to see if he can explain... It may very well be a Boulevard. I found this via Google. I like.... http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2000models/2000models-Yamaha-RoyalStar-Boulevard.htm Sure looks like it without all the bling.
  4. OK, I'm sorta looking at this supposedly 2000 RSTD on Ebay. I kinda like the styling, looks a lot like a stratoliner, but it doesn't look like any other TD I've seen. The specs list the HP at 74, and I thought the RSV and TD were more in the 98hp range. Take a look and see what you think. Can't tell by the vin number the seller entered either. 5. He might already have the braces too, but if not...?? http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2158/cat/6
  6. Yep, look like progressives to me.... Suspected as much..
  7. Well, the air has too be going somewhere, and I hate to be tossing suggestions at you, but have you soaped the fork fittings where the air lines connect? There's a couple of 'O' rings in there that could be worn?? There's also a possibility that the pump valve is leaking enternally?? With both the front and rear going down almost at the same time I think it's a pump issue.... maybe??
  8. Funny, I never have......... ??? I might add... not yet anyway...
  9. Best thing since sliced bread....
  10. That dealer had some very good prices. Amazing the amount of inventory he has.. Interesting.....
  11. The seals in the shock and front forks may be leaking?? Did you try soaping those areas??
  12. Sigh... Day late and a dollar short... Story of my life. I just bought a set of very clean clutch and brake master assemblies with clear sight glasses off Ebay to replace those on the '83. They were getting to look and feel like swiss cheese.... However I am tempted to pick up a set of the crystals just because. Gary, let me know if you need to add a few more to a batch.
  13. Boy, Earl's right. I have a saddle off an '83 that actually melted from the heat. Ugly...
  14. Great ad for MC awareness. Not everyone is going to be effected by it, but if it saves one MC death it's worth it. Wish they played that stuff on US TV... One way to help is send the link to all our non-bike email addresses.
  15. That's a thought. Progressives run about $65 bucks the last time I checked. The preload is PVC pipe, and I cut mine in half. Some have left them out and others, superman's cousins, have kept them in one piece. One thing tho-. those cups that fit in the end of the stock preload also fit in the ends of the PVC. You'll need them to prevent the ends of the PVC from getting chewed up by the spring action over time. Earl may have to go to work....
  16. Are you sure that the PO didn't install Progressives or some other aftermarket springs?? Without that preload spacer it should have rode like cr@p with OEM springs, and some mechs leave them out when doing a spring upgrade. Any chance you can still get ahold of the PO to check??
  17. Nope...too ugly..... :rotf:
  18. Yeah, interesting Earl. I've never had the problem... not to say it doesn't exist... or maybe I've just been lucky??? I've got about a 5-6 carb sets and some I've used as parts, and so far I haven't had the problem... now just watch the next time I do a mix'n'match I'll run face first into it.... But if I do I will know what's going on.... :)

    Exhaust

Yamaha makes slip-on tips for the stock mufflers that go on right over the existing tips. If you're talking about cutting off and rewelding something on it probably would be a first....
  20. The only difference that I'm aware of between the MkI and MkII sliders is the bleader hole... or what ever they call it.. in the bottom part of the plastic slider. Otherwise they are one size fits all... The hole can be drilled out to match the rest. Haven't figured out how to shrink it yet.....
  21. Geeze... got me all excited until I looked up the California Regs for antique plates. 25 years old or older.... but here's the kicker. It can only be driven to collector shows, parades, etc. Dang!!!
  22. Maybe it's just me, or an optical illusion, but that pic straight on from the back looks to me like the tire isn't lined up with the bags and frame??? Plus the lugage rack is missing. Rear ended??? http://i.ebayimg.com/02/!BnT(ZywBWk~$(KGrHqUH-EEEts(TTvHWBLi-,Pdmgg~~_3.JPG
  23. Not getting over 80-85mph sounds like you're running on three cylinders??? On the high idle. Back off the right/left sync screw a bit and see what happens. It may screwed in so much that your idle is actually being controlled by #3 and #4 carbs instead of #2. There's two screws on the right side of the carb assembly. Back the aft one out a bit and see what happens.
