  2. So I picked up a few things from an auction Saturday morning. One of the items was a Home Brew beer making kit. Gonna give it a try.. Even discovered WTH a 'carboy' was... The Waltzmiller's on the German side of the family tree were Brewers in Buffalo, NY back in the late 1800's. All big guys. 6'6"..6'7"... Guess that's where the gene came from.... :-) Anyway I figured it might be a great way to carry on the tradition...
  3. Tell her they're very tiny holes and if you counter sink the hole a little you can put a wooden plug over each one... :-) Then duck... Yeah, it avoids those Yikes moments.... I've had a few until I came up with the idea... Time to jack up the tongue....Or... see below...
  4. Actually on a trailer you can jack up the tongue a bit and it will decrease the angle of the ramp, but increase the floor slope.... Ditto on the toy hauler.... But if I were rich.....
  5. I donno Gary, but it sounds like overkill for the plywood and then training wheels.... Why not install blind nuts in the floor and use wing screws to fasten the chock down. All you'll see in the floor will be two or 4 threaded holes?? Just place the chock where you want it and use it for a template when drilling for the holes and make sure you're not drilling into something important... :-) And BTW I removed the two rubber feet to get the chock to lay flat on the bed of the trailer. They're really not needed unless you plan on using the chock as a work stand?? On the training wheels it all comes down to technique. Riding/duck walking the bike up into the chock under power is pretty straight forward. It's backing out that can get a little dicey. Backing up is no problem until all the weight of the bike transfers to the rear wheel and you really don't want to pick your right foot up to hit the brakes and loose your balance so it becomes a sleigh ride. What I've found is to start the bike and put it into first gear before backing out of the chock, and when the front tire looses traction and wants to start skidding on the ramp just let out on the clutch lever a tad and it'll stop skidding, and you can back down the ramp with both feet on the ground. The clutch becomes your rear brake in a way... IMHO... :-)
  6. Years ago when bike riders were not as plentiful as they are today the wave was a sign of acknowledgment to a fellow two wheeled brother. Now days it all depends on the reason someone is on two wheels. Some are riding because they can’t afford gas. Some ride because they can’t afford four wheels. Some commute to work and ride because finding parking is easier. To the post office, to the grocery store, Micky D’s… Ad nausium.. Then some of us ride for the shear enjoyment and freedom of the experience, and generally it has nothing to do with having a destination less than an hour away. So in today's world, around town with a rider on every corner, they don’t wave. But get out on the open road and everyone waves. I guess it’s like a ‘family’ greeting of respect. The most memorable wave I’ll never forget is riding east on I-80 out in the Nevada boonies, with the east/west separated by what seemed like a quarter mile, a west bound solo biker was waving at our group flaying both hands up in the air. I returned to greeting in kind. It lightened my spirits for the rest of the day….. Around town I limit my waves to young kids on bicycles… Makes ‘m feel good, and maybe someday…… My 2¢
  7. You may have it set too far forward. The front wheel need to ride over the 'hump' and fall into the trough.... The wheel at rest needs to be elevated off the bottom of the chock so that the front wheel is forced into the upright channel. I'm not sure how effective it is since the upright is a channel with a 'V' that should be adjustable?? That one of the big reasons why I like the Harbor Freight so much in that the whole upright is a 'V' and with the fat front tire of the RSV it's snug.. You ride the bike on and get off. It stays upright and on center.... One thought.... do you have your cantalever installed properly?? It can go on backwards?? The long leg goes toward the rear... https://www.harborfreight.com/1800-lb-capacity-motorcycle-standwheel-chock-61670.html

Not only fast, but sneaky too..... I don't care what they say, the '83's were the beta model, and the fastest on the planet.. They were so fast that in '85 they stuck the motor in a V-Max and de-tuned everything else... IMHO

  13. The KW 10" model in chrome is the #300200. http://www.khromewerks.com/shop/detail/300200 I might also add the bend in the rise clears the dash of a 2ndGen perfectly, and they look awesome....

    Bump....
  15. There have been a few folks that have used the 10" bobbers on their RSV's and from what I've read they love 'm.... At one time Cycle Gear had them for around $65 bucks special order.
  16. Whew!! Lots of responses and points of views. I've don't really care, but.... I do like the dedicated forum style a bit better.. Most of the other sights I visit do it this way, and to me it makes sense..... Kinda the KISS formula. My 2¢

Thunk about you last night PUC... Guess where they took me for my birthday party.....
  18. Careful.... When I didn't have it I thought it was a waste of money to subscribe... no matter what the folks on this board said.. However, when I bought my used Titan LE it came with lifetime XM, and that's all I listen to any longer. It's kinda nice listening to one station all day and not having to scan for stations when driving across Nevada, or out in the boonies, and getting poor reception at that.... So I'll pony up the bucks when this truck wears out...

Just wanted to extend a BIG THANK YOU to those members who have donated to the SAF fund. So far 25+ souls have heard the call. Some have dug deeper than others and it all helps. Besides sending flowers when appropriate, the money has been used as seed money for expenses incurred while planning the Internationals and some of the larger meet and eats if needed. Patches, supplies, raffle tickets, etc. This thread has been viewed 750 times so far... Imagine what we could do if only half of them sent something... Woo Hoo!!!
  20. The rear reservoir has a collapsible accordion bladder like the fronts do. The problem is it will extend down into the cavity of the reserve and it's not easy to get it back up again unless the reserve lid is removed.... or.... you can take a small bent wire or piece of coat hanger and get it back up a couple of folds... Not the optimum but it will give you more room. Another thing that happens is when fully extended it'll hit the float that triggers the low brake fluid light on the dash. Get it up out of the way and that problem is solved too....
  21. Sorry to hear you're having a FUBAR moment. Tow it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it, or.....tell then to come a get it. :-0 There's a lot to be said about the KISS formula....

SIGN ME UP!!.... I've been to a lot of places in this world, but I've never been to Hawaii.. Spreading my ashes to the sound of a Conch Shell off a catamaran with a ukulele playing and accompanied by hula dancers sounds awesome.... Kinda like Iz..... Meanwhile back to the SAF fund....
  24. I'm pretty sure the CLASS controllers are all the same from 83-93. If it's still listed in the parts manual and has a 26H in front of the number they will interchange. I thought I had a parts catalog.pfd but can't locate it. Now... The controller on eBay is over priced, and from the looks of it.. junk. Actually you can locate one that might be a....little... worse for wear, the PC boards can be swapped out if your's is in better shape...

Yeah, I couldn't find one either, but talked to Don and he said there's one at the top of the page and it's the only one I could find. He's aware of what these donations the last couple of days are for and will be kept separate from any operations donation. It might help if he added a message box to the page to denote what the monies are to be used for... Many Thanks to all those who have ponied up to get this very important 'family' function back on track again.... Heck I'm getting old.. When the time comes flowers would be nice...
