It may not be Carpal Dan. There's two areas that can cut off nerve sensation to the hand, and the elbow area is one of them. About where the funny bone is. Sounds like that's what you have.... Carpal is when the tunel thru the wrist bone starts choking off blood and nerves.

I bet if they design one of those gizmo's, with just the basics, to fit in the tape deck of a 2ndGen they might sell a few. -
You mean I have to leave my 1stGen at home?????

Yep, Noticed that. I'll probably pick one up and stash it... Something I have a habit of doing. I can't imagine needing it, but you never know... Good idea on the cell phone...

Thanks Joe. I re-read the owners Manual...slowly this time and found it.... I guess there's another one under the seat... I just wanted to locate it so the GPS mount would be close by, and not have a bunch of wires runing all over the place. Mount is now mounted on the LH side.

Did I read somewhere that the 2ndGens have a cigarette lighter power plug??? Or was I halucinating again..... I didn't see any reference to one in the owners manual.... but I'm pretty sure I've run across posts about it... Never mind I found it..... Sorry for the dry run...

One thing I remember about the falls is it rains....in the parking lot on the Canadian side... even when there aren't any clouds in the sky... The wife and I decided to view the falls early in the AM to avoid the crowds. Got the truck washed while we did. How cool is that.....!!

Double H Sintered PADS
Condor replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeah... Of course you're right Earl. Open mouth, insert foot..... DOH!! I didn't realize the 2ndGens were so old fashioned.... Maybe that's why they lock up so often. Old 1stGen technology is too much for a 2ndGen to handle.... -

One of the reasons that the 2ndGen's have uneven wear is they don't have caliper pistons on the inside. The calipers are a two piston set up on the same side.... No sticky pistons like we get on 1stGens.... -
Has anyone used jake wilson for tires
Condor replied to GOODWRENCH's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just ordered a set from Jake Wilson. I went with the E III's for the '99. They were a little more expensive than the Venoms after you apply the $50 buck rebate, but I wanted to try something different. Pretty painless online. BTW besides the free shipping you get another $10 bucks off by buying two.... Didn't know that until I checked out. -

Besides the trunk, I understand the rear shock was also a weak area in the early years...?? -
Gary, If you can still get online go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ It's free and will clean your system. I've been using it for over 10 years without an issue. If you can't get online try searching for the last file written into memory and double clicking on it. Sometimes you can back door the virus block that way. Once online go to Trend. I discovered this when I came down with a virus way back when. Shut me down good. Went to START and then searched by date figuring I could just delete the last file and it would go away. That's how dumb I was. I was also lucky because when I found the file it wasn't what I was looking for, but I double clicked to open it, it was an online temp foil and the computor went looking for it online. Once online I wasn't about to log off. Found Trend. Did the housecall and it found 2 viruses. In those days it gave me the instructions on how to get rid of them. Now they get rid of them for you.

But can you hold a phone conversation using the headset??? I just read the bluetooth options in detail, and they just talk about the phone...nothing else.??
-
Yep, I just tried to contact Garmin Support to ask if it could be done with the Streetpilot c550. The phone wait was aprox 35 minutes. Not for this boy.... Then I figured I'd email them. Their email form is a joke. I can't even figure out what the 'H' they are talking about in the drop down menu's. The c550 does have a wired audio out and a remote mic plug, but I think to get them to work with a blue it would need one of those bluetooth adapters??? I'm off to something else.

So far what I'm getting with just the GPS and Phone blue'd, the GPS is controlling everything. Even when I answer the phone manually it just triggers the GPS into phone mode, and I still have to use the GPS for conversation. Not a bad thing, but now I'm wondering is when I have a headset installed will the GPS still run the show or be a slave to the headset?? I don't want to go shell out a couple of 'C' notes to find out it can't be done. Maybe I should call Garmin.???

Tippy or Top Heavy?
Condor replied to Blue Giant's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I still have fork braces left over from the last group buy.... If you don't have one....you should. -
I think I'd go back to PWC, send 'm the pic, and ask what's up?? They're the experts. That is catrostrophic failure, and scary since it's part of the engine oil system. I've never seen plates in that condition with twice the miles.

I will occassionally rest the back of the heel on the pad to straighten out the leg completely. I'd rather have the widest part on top. Hate to think what would happen if I fell asleep and my foot slipped off because it was too narrow.......

The dial goes 1 up to 4..4 down to 1. Not 4 to 1. I think you need to toddle on over to Don's maintenence day June 19th. I bet it'll purr on the way back home.....

I've been running Avon Venoms for the last 3-4 years on the '83VR and they were great when it comes to handling. It's just the sidewall cracking issue that bothered me. No complaint about Avon's replacement policy. Anyway, because of some good feedback on this board, I decided to put a set of Elite III's on the '99RSV. I'm still running Avons on the '91VR, but figured the '99 will be a long range tourer, and I don't want to deal with possible cracking while out in the boonies. Besides all of the 1stGens I own, for the most part, came with EII's, and.. IMO... are as tough as nails. If the EIII's give the same results I'll be a happy camper. The EIII's also have a tread pattern that's very similar to the Venoms. So I went ahead and picked up the EIII's from Jake Wilson online. Another set of Venoms, with their $50 buck rebate would have been cheaper by $20 bucks. The EIII's ran $221 on my doorstep, and the Venoms would have run me $240. Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike rebates....

I just open the side vents and stick my hands down between my leg and the false tank cover. Nice and toasty....
