  1. And good old Cal-e-fornia is missing from the list. CARB strikes again....
  2. I'm going to see if I can adjust the heel peg to set below the floorboard. I've got a big foot and may be able to handle a high toe peg?? I'll give that a shot before doing the amputation....
  3. Well..... Crud!! Called Monty's lead, and they didn't have one in stock although they did show it on the web. I even put one in the basket and they jacked up the price to $104 bucks. Man that was quick... same results. Called a couple of other big dealers...same response. Looks like I'm gonna half to take a heel/toe to surgery.... Meanwhile I'll just keep on hanging shifts.... Grrr!!!!
  4. Thanks for the effort Gary....
  5. Helps a bunch when you have all the facts.... The overflow lines run toward the rear over the heat shield and come out in front of the rear tire. If left off I can see fuel possibily runing down onto the headers and collector. POOF!! Ya gotta love dem UPS drivers.
  6. Thanks Monty. That's what I was looking for. Did a search on the part number and ran into this PDF file. Looks like something everyone should have stored away for a cross reference.....
  7. This isn't the first time I've heard of the problem. But it's been with big outboard motors. A lot of dealers are getting hit with carb problems on 1 and 2 year old boats. Might be good info to kep on file.....
  8. Sounds like whoever rebuilt the carbs didn't do a very good job and pull the bowl covers off to clean out the crud. You probably have something in the valve seats holding them open. Time to pull them and take them back for a redo..... Hope the rebuilder didn't charge a lot....
  9. On the Streetpilot c550 I just loaded up a bunch of my CD's, and stored individual tunes. Ripped the CD's to the computor, then converted them to MP3, and loaded them on the GPS with an 8gig card. I downloaded a free converter http://www.wma-mp3.org/ off the net. There's a bunch of them but this one seemed to have no hidden agenda.... One of my favorite CD's is Starbucks Night on the Delta. Great CD if you like Bayou Jazz. Before the HD fried I used to have a cut of 'Sea Lion Woman' from the movie General's Daughter. If you like hot humid traditional jazz this is the one. Gotta get another copy. Another rip would be 'The Jazz Singer' from the movie 7days-7Nights. I guess most of the stuff I have loaded on the GPS are Jazz/Classical with a heavy beat. Not that I don't like some of the faster stuff, I just don't think my brain needs any more up-tempo type input than it already has.... Plus a little Jimmy Buffet never hurt anyone....
  10. That's always an option, but if I screw it up there's no way to undo it. A member did post a part number for the toe shifter a while back, and there's gotta be one laying around on a dealer shelf somewhere. Another alternative might be to find one from a set of forward controls on a chopper and see if it can be adapted?? It'd still be nice to keep it an all Star.
  11. Anyone remember what the part number is for the tow only shift arm for a 2nd Gen??? I know I read on the board some place where Yamaha makes one..... I'd do a search, but I don't even know what they are called....
  12. It wasn't the oil. A couple possible things have occured since it's heat related and got worse the longer you rode. The expansion hole in the reserve is plugged up. The DOT 3 needs to be changed. The reserve is over full. Take care of those items and the clutch will return to normal. My 2¢
  13. Black Owl sent me a really cool set of covers he made out of leather that snap on and float above the dust seal. I'll take a pic later today when I get the chance. Been trying to talk him out of another set but he keeps ignoring me....
  14. In this economy and with the current state of the new motorcycle biz I think any thoughts of a new Venture is wishfull thinking. I wouldn't hold my breath for a new 2011..... Maybe 12 or 13...or....??

    vacume

I never paid attention to the vacuum when syncing, just as long as there is some.... Just seems like on all the carbs I've sync'd it's always different???
  16. When was the last time the clutch system was bled?? Sounds like you have a co-incidental problem....
  17. They never miss a beat when it comes to any excuss to raise the price of fuel....
  18. I think you're gonna need more than water wings..... Stay dry my friend http://listentoleon.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/dos-equis-stay-thisty.jpg
  19. In the rain no less.... Jeff you have the stamina of a horse...
  20. What grade DOT fluid did you use to flush the master?? Sorry, had to ask...
  21. If you're going to only buy all you need is a credit card they can bill listing fees in case it doesn't sell. If you want to receive free balance transfers for something you've sold, you will need a bank account they can transfer the funds to. And even then you don't need the bank account if you sell an item and want a hard check mailed to you.
  22. You folks better stock up on cheese cake fixin's. Looks like you're going to have one heck of a crowd. I'd be there, but the wife said she'd take care of me.....
  23. OK, so it's not Venture related, and a shot in the dark... My grandson picked up an '89 Ninja 600 basket, and I wonder if anyone here might know where I could find a downloadable service manual in PFD like we have available here for the Ventures. I tried a search, but couldn't find anything. Any help would be apreciated.
  24. Believe me it can get painfull. In my left hand I'd get ice pick shooting pains up the ring finger into the palm of the hand. Hurt like a SOB... Shooting pains are not that unusual. I've had both wrists done. The right hand last year and the left last Feb. So far everything's back to normal, and that's after my right hand went dead 24/7 for over 6 months.
