  1. Your situation is going to be #1 on my list of questions Steve. I'll bet that power of attorney in your case would have helped out a bunch....

    RSV choke

Yep, me too. Let it sit for a couple of hours and it's choke time.... Good to know I'm not alone....
  3. Glad it worked and you're deciding to keep the bike now Lewis.... I can't take all the credit, Klaus (kbert777) came up with the wire tie trick. Before that I used a very small needle ....shhhh don't tell the wife.... and compressed air.
  4. :rotfl::rotfl:
  5. actually a line of credit is one of the options offered with a reverse,,,,
  6. Are you using a wire from a paper tie, or a plastic coated one? The weaker the tie the better. Try another tie, or a very small needle??. Or..... try blowing it out with compressed air. One of those air guns with the rubber tip might work. If all else fails there's always the mini drill bit. One way or another it needs to be cleaned out...
  7. WOW.... I can understand your mood.... But it also sounds like there were some things that should have been taken care of before things got to this point. There are a lot of different ways a reverse can be applied, and by law you have to attend an independant counceling service to obtain a certificate that you have been counceled before a lending institution can even start the reverse process. In our case we're looking at a line of credit, not monthly payments. Things have changed a lot since reverse mortages first came on the market. Maybe a renogtiation of the reverse might be an option in your case??
  8. Anyone here done a reverse? I'm looking into it, and thought I'd ask.
  9. You'd better hustle... You've got about 4 more days until they start charging you again... I can understand stators, starters, etc., but let us know how the pistons and cams sold for ya.....
  10. I agree Bubber.... Ebay loves it, but some stuff just doesn't sell. I guess some folks are so tight they just can't give up on dumpster-food.... A little Kenny Rogers would go a long way...
  11. DAMN.... Bit my tongue..... :rotfl:
  12. Yep, has nothing to do with the tire.....
  13. Had the same problem with my '83 when I bought her. Since it starts slipping after the motor gets up to op-temp your expansion relief hole is plugged in the reserve, or you have too much fluid in the reserve which should be kept at half the sight glass.. Looking down into the reserve you'll see two holes. One actually looks like they started to drill and then quit. At the bottm of the 'quit' hole is a very tiny pin hole. This allows hot expanded fluid to excape back into the reserve. You have a small piece of junk plugging the hole. Clean it out with a small piece of wire.... grocery store wire tie... and the system will work again. Crystals will form in old fluid and one of those crystals will get lodged in the hole. Easy to miss when rebuilding the master. So even though you've bled the heck out of everything it's stuck. Air will blow it out of there when rebuilding, but it can also be dislodged with the wire, and eventually sink down into the slave, and probably get washed out the next time you bleed the clutch.
  14. Sorry Carl, I can't agree with you. The only time the expansion hole comes into play is when the master piston is at rest. It has nothing to do with application. It closes off almost imediately when the piston cup is moved forward about 1 or 2mm's. Other manufacturers have larger holes. Honda for one actually puts a baffle in there to keep the initial 'squirt' from blowing fluid out of the reserve with the lid off. I'm not talking about punching out a 1/8" hole, but like I said a very small drill bit. Maybe I should have been more specific and said one of those very small bits that we always seem to break immediately after buying a new set of bits.... BTW, that wire does work.
  15. Not to be outdone by youse Texans, there's a place in Boyle Heights CA called 'El Tepeyac' that serves up a 4 pound burito called Manuel's Special. Back in the day if you ate two of them they were free. I ate one and it almost killed me. Had to lay on my back spread eagled on the livingroom floor for an hour afterwards. 16. I had the same problem on my '83 when I first got it. My rear brake would lock up after a short ride around the block. I rebuilt everything I could get my hands on to no avail. Cost just a few bucks to do it all too. I finally found the problem, and it would have been an easy fix... if I'd knew about it. The hot fluid expansion hole was plugged. On the rear master it's located under the plastic elbow on the side of the master where the reserve hose connects. It can easily be over looked even when rebuilding the master. All it takes is a small piece of crud to get jammed in the hole, and the expanded fluid will start to apply the brakes because the expanded fluid can't return to the reserve...the more the brakes drag the hotter the caliper gets... the hotter the caliper get's the more the fluid applies the brake. It's a vicious downward cycle. Clearing the hole out with a small wire and bleeding the 'H' out of the master takes care of the problem. Take one of those wire ties you can find in supermarket's produce sections and strip the paper off. It fits in the hole. Or..... take a very small drill bit and enlarge the hole, so it has to be a big piece of crud to plug it up.. I don't know why Yamaha didn't do this to begin with.... Locking up the rear brakes, although not very common, happens more than it should. So, save your money and take a trip to the grocery store.
  17. For those of you that may not know, that 'twinky' looking thing that sits in the valley under the carbs is the only other place besides the water pump seals, where oil and water are seperated by o-rings and seals. Not a real expensive fix. Cracked heads and blown head gaskets are areas you don't want to think about.
  18. Europe.....
  19. Yeah, you're probably right, that's why I suggested a MKI clutch assembly... They do have the springs..... Do you know if the clutch was 'disc'd' from the git-go in '85 or was it in 86 like the MKII's??
  20. I think it's coil vs. disc springs. Here's a thread with info. V-MAX CLUTCH
  21. Sell it, and you'll be sorrrrry......
  22. WOW!! What a deal. For $50 bucks I'd gamble too.....
  23. Yeah, I asked him about those at the BBQ. He said the jury's still out on his new set. Besides, I'm just not real sure I like the 4 hole'r exhaust look??
  24. Thanks Don. I think that may be the case. I found a couple of youtube's on them. I was wondering with the baffles if they might have been a little more of a mid range rumble....
  25. Anyone have a set of these on their scoot? I'm looking at a set on Ebay, but need to know if they're 'Nasty Boy' loud. Better yet, does anyone have a link to a sound bite??
