  1. Yep, same thing with my '83/1200. During the summer it will run hotter as the temps go up. At 100+ it will run close to the red. Just the nature of the beast....
  2. Man, if you're having that much trouble getting a seat that isn't painfull, maybe you should have a doc take a look at your problem. 'Cause if it affects you that much on a bike you're probably having a lot of pain everytime you sit.... anywhere...
  3. You don't want to know what these panals go for new..... PANEL, terminal 59J-28221-00-00 1 $202.68 $140.55 If I were you I'd keep looking at Ebay. I have a couple floating around here, but can't be sure if they belong to one of the 'kit' bikes, so I'm no help. Maybe another member has a spare in his stash and only one bike...
  4. Right now I think you should concentrate on getting well, and then make a decision. You can't bury your head in the sand every time something bad happens in your life, but just remember, you married your wife... not the bike... And time heals all wounds.
  5. OK, I gotta ask a question that's been bothering me for a while now. How in the 'H' do floats get out of factory adjustment other than becoming saturated and not floating any longer??? There's been a lot of discussion here about adjusting the floats, and if the bowls have never been messed with, I can't see how they can get messed up?? I just don't see it. Enlighten me!!
  6. When I had to take care of my son's remains we used 'direct' cremation. The key word here is direct, and dealing direcly with the crematorium instead of a mortuary. This was five years ago, and at the time the fee was $500 plus a transportation cost of $60. The trip from the morgue to the crematorium was about 100miles 'round trip. Then because he was a victim, the local 'Victim/Witness Society reimbursed to us the costs.
  7. Been thinking about doing that to my Nolan flips, only using a thin foam weather stripping. The '99 with the low cut windshield makes the flip noisier than 'H'.... Whine?? What whine.....
  8. Motel 6.......
  9. http://www.ipscorp.com/ Here ya go Randy..
  10. Man, that's a helpless OS feeling when the dreaded lace reaches out and grabs the shift arm. Happened once. Never again. Now I tuck the laces or wear the boots....
  11. Geeze, can't we resize these pics so you don't have to scroll a half mile to the right in order to read any comments that follow.....
  12. You move to where there's a few curves, and you might wear 'm out a little quicker Lowell.....

  14. I have two Nolan Flips. One white and one black. Two years ago I wore the white one to Ft Collins, and the black one back. 100+ degs in both directions and didn't notice any difference. I can see where there might have been a difference at low speeds around town, but at highway speeds they were the same.
  15. Nah, nothing ever dies on this board......
  16. I knew Porche was involved in there somewhere. Here's a site that does a great job of recording the history of the Harley 'Nova'.... http://www.bikerenews.com/AntiqueBikes/CodeNameNova.htm
  17. D-A-M-N..... DUDE!!
  18. I think you already own the best bang for the buck on the market if money is an issue. Parts are still available either via Ebay or your dealer. Plastic is repairable and will last as long as it's maintained, and accessory upgrades, although limited, are still around. i.e. Progressives, AGM batts, tires... Second gear is always an issue, but not all 83-'85's have a bad second gear. High reliable miles are very do-able. Ignore a bike and getting around the block is going to be a problem. All bikes are going to need wrenching, even new ones.
  19. Ok, so it runs at that temp. I'll take your word for it. However, I still haven't found anything to substantiate those temps, and I've looked. What temp would it have to be for oil water mix to seperate and the water to 'boil' off.....??
  20. If it's as bad as you state...for both of you, I gotta think there's more going on than the helmet. Sorisis, or even head lice maybe?? I know it sounds yucky, but it's a possibility. I'd see a Doc on this one. You might have criters in the helmets, or even a shared scalp condition.
  21. I had a car battery once that checked out great on the multi-meter, but when it was load tested it croaked. Internal short. The battery dealer even thought it was good initially, but the load test proved us all wrong.... He also said he'd seen it before, but it was rare that a battery would take a charge, give the right volts, and still die under load.
  22. 200degs.?? Man if it gets that hot we'd better start making them water cooled.... Where'd you find that info about the final?? I'm always willing to learn...
  23. I agree with the leak in the sensor, but I really doubt the final temps will get up to the point that the absorbed moisture will boil off......
  24. How often are you servicing the final. Sounds like you're doing it everytime you change the engine oil?? Or did you get the milky lube just once after running a couple of years?? (Personally I only change out the final lube every couple of years.) If it was just once it might be that you're in a very humid area and the finals do breath. Air expands when hot from running or just sitting in the sun, and then sucks in moist air as it cools. The moisture will be absorbed into the lube as it sits, and doesn't go away the next time the final heats up again. It's a cycle. Eventually the lube will become cloudy from the moisture in the air. So it might be the humidity in your area that's doing it.
