Saddlebags Stuck
Condor replied to iron pony boyz's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just took a look at my saddle lock. Good luck. The only suggestion I could make is if all else fails drill a couple of holes where you might be able to get a coat hanger in there to trip the catches... both of them.... Then you could get a couple of rubber plugs from your local hardware store to make things watertight again. -
Just count the tires and divide by 2......

Uncomfortable with heal toe shifter
Condor replied to ToyOdie's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I've been working on getting used to the HT. It's starting to feel more comfortable, but the problem I'm having is the heel position is so high that my heel is not letting the throw come completely back up unless I make a conscious effort to raise the heel of my boot. Lowering the heel position will put the toe higher than a kite. I wish they did have an adjustable heel/toe angle like those on the Harley... -
Vic (LoneEagle) ran 424's on his TD and they sounded a heck of a lot louder than yours. I liked the mellow idle and midrange rumble on your video. You did not want to ride behind Vic's..... I'm not a big fan of 4 tips, so the search continues...

Now that was cool. Almost like going for a ride and not getting outta the bathrobe. I do like the sound of those mufflers. What brand/model are they??

Yesterday I decided to get out and replace a hatch port on a dinghy I have listed for sale. It came with just the ring. The screw in center disc was missing. The new port was about a 1/4" larger than the OEM ring. No problem, I have a Roto-Zip... The Zip came with a circle cutter that I've never had the chance to use, but it looked simple enough. The plan of attack was to cut a hole in a piece of plywood and then use it as a guide along with a veining bit to enlarge the hole in the dinghy. Well... let me tell you... that thing sucks. I started with a piece of ply about 4' long, and ended up screwing up the entire piece. But.... I did end up with 5 side stand discs... And I bet you thought this thread wasn't going to be motorcycle related....

Aux Lights Mounting Position
Condor replied to 84xj1100's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Someone took over the battery cables, and then JB (lonestarmedic) started building them. The brackets were just retired.... -

Aux Lights Mounting Position
Condor replied to 84xj1100's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Squidley used to make the brackets, but has gone out of business. He may have one laying around?? Check with him. Most mount the lights next to the horns, but I have seen them all over the place. Just try to mount them as low as possible. -
If money is an issue try shopping Ebay for a Garmin c550 Streepilot. I picked up mine for $85 bucks to the door. It looks like a Zumo, but doesn't have all the buttons and whistles. It does have a viewable anti-glare screen so you can see it in direct sunlight, bluetooth capable, and has an MP3 player. And it works. Mine was gently used and came with the factory docs and box. The seller also unregistered it on the Garmin site so it's now in my name. It also came with two power cords. One for the car and one for the bike. Also a couple of different mounting systems. I did have to buy a bike mount for $10 bucks off Ebay. I think it's the best bang for the buck available. http://www.gpsmagazine.com/assets/Review-c550/pt-SP-c550-CF-lg.jpg

Only in the tread area, and maybe a little way up the sidewall. Beads are on their own...

High on testosterone.....

Could be sweat from the tire installer. Touch the rim with sweaty hands along the bead and it'll cause corrosion. Just a thought.

I was referrring to the Progressive site. They did... or may still... make an air assist for the 1stGen. Nothing for the 2ndGen... I also checked Racetech to see if they had anything, and they may, but their site isn't very user friendly.... And hard to understand for those of us that are synapse challenged...

Holy Rat Feathers Batman.....!!! XVZ13 Royal Star Venture 99- Un R 10.00 Y SRS $605 $689 XVZ13 Royal Star Tour Deluxe 06- Un R 10.00 Y SRS $605 $689 Now I need to know. What in the 'H' makes MC shocks so special?? And what makes them so much better than a $50 auto shock to warant those kinds of prices?? $605 bucks seems like bend over time.....
-
Don't need to hear this.... The '99 shock was replaced under warantee by the PO, and I figured it was taken care of. Now I'm learning it can go multiple times..... Yeesh!! Just for conversation sake, are there any aftermarket rear shocks around the same price as an OEM available?? I just looked at the Progressive website and couldn't find anything listed for the 2ndGen in a rear shock. Could this be a sign of the times????

I just put on EIII's on the '99 front and back in regular sizes. I thought that I'd experience the same performance increase that I experienced on the '83 using regular sized Avons. The EIII's were better, but I think I should have gone to the smaller 130 front. Other than the bike still being a little sluggish, it was still an improvement over the EII's I took off.
