Does anyone have a right side throttle grip they want to get rid of. The '99's is just plain ugly. Too many twists on it. The left side looks great, and would like to find something in about the same condition. The right looks like it's shrunk and pulled out of the chrome ring and the ends are curled up. Attached are a couple of picks. Anyway hoping someone may have a grip laying around after putting on some Kuryakyns.

How do you pick this d***n thing up!!!
Condor replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'd like to see someone 6'6" try and do that. The problem is getting your butt low enough to get under the thing. I gently layed the '83 down right after I got it, and I did use the technique, but the bike didn't go all the way down and just came to rest on the case and saddle guards. I had to really strain to get it up. If it had gone all the way down it'd still be laying there..... -

Uncomfortable with heal toe shifter
Condor replied to ToyOdie's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Looks really nice, but I think you'll need to add the ball attachment for the linkage hook up like on a heel/toe. While we're on the subject....maybe?.... Yamaha had a toe shift for the RSV, but it's been discontinued. If anyone is lucky enough to have one, could you measure the length from the pivot to the pin, center to center. I'm wondering if there is a difference in the length from the toe section of the heel/toe which is 6.5" -
He now has no choice. A previous owner removed the injection system.... 32:1 time..

Usually the only way the kill switch can go bad is they aren't used.. a use it or loose it situation... and the contacts oxidize, or it's worn out... I've never seen a worn out switch.. I'd suggest putting it back together and going down to your local Radio Shack to pick up some contact cleaner spray. Spray the 'H' out of it and work the switch back and forth. Should take care of the problem, if it's dirty. If it's worn out I've seen entire right hand assemblies on Ebay. Just because, what's the switch not doing??

Carb Diaphragm info...finally
Condor replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
No Problem... That's what this board is all about. The slower throttle response is probably due to the diaphragm material being a little thicker than the OEM material, and not quite as responsive. I've never been a big fan of the replacement phragms, and wonder if they don't limit the distance and speed a needle will pull out of the jet?? But.... some movement is better than no movement.... and the price is a whole lot better than OEM...- 122 replies

Best advice I can give is 'Don't stop'. Actually you will start to get the feel of the bike over time. It is a learning experience. The hardest thing I've found is to not over react or over correct as the 2ndGens don't respond like a bike that's more agile. It's designed to gobble up the miles, and do it well....

Carb Diaphragm info...finally

Double check to see if you don't have a vacuum leak on a diaphragm seal. Sometimes those puppies can pull out and get pinched when installing. If you're not pulling that needle out far enough you won't get enough gas though a carb at high RPM's. And that may also be the case if the phragm rubber is thicker than OEM's. Just a thought..- 122 replies

Saddlebags Stuck
Condor replied to iron pony boyz's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just took a look at my saddle lock. Good luck. The only suggestion I could make is if all else fails drill a couple of holes where you might be able to get a coat hanger in there to trip the catches... both of them.... Then you could get a couple of rubber plugs from your local hardware store to make things watertight again. -
Just count the tires and divide by 2......

Uncomfortable with heal toe shifter
Condor replied to ToyOdie's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I've been working on getting used to the HT. It's starting to feel more comfortable, but the problem I'm having is the heel position is so high that my heel is not letting the throw come completely back up unless I make a conscious effort to raise the heel of my boot. Lowering the heel position will put the toe higher than a kite. I wish they did have an adjustable heel/toe angle like those on the Harley... -
Vic (LoneEagle) ran 424's on his TD and they sounded a heck of a lot louder than yours. I liked the mellow idle and midrange rumble on your video. You did not want to ride behind Vic's..... I'm not a big fan of 4 tips, so the search continues...

Yesterday I decided to get out and replace a hatch port on a dinghy I have listed for sale. It came with just the ring. The screw in center disc was missing. The new port was about a 1/4" larger than the OEM ring. No problem, I have a Roto-Zip... The Zip came with a circle cutter that I've never had the chance to use, but it looked simple enough. The plan of attack was to cut a hole in a piece of plywood and then use it as a guide along with a veining bit to enlarge the hole in the dinghy. Well... let me tell you... that thing sucks. I started with a piece of ply about 4' long, and ended up screwing up the entire piece. But.... I did end up with 5 side stand discs... And I bet you thought this thread wasn't going to be motorcycle related....
