  1. That's my thought too. Diaphragms. If they are 'holy' they won't be pulling the needle out of the jet far enough to get fuel at higher RPM's. The engine will idle and run smooth, but not have any response when rolling on the throttle....
  2. You might give these folks a shot. http://www.brokentractor.com/case_backhoe_parts.htm
  3. That's great!! You can put away the coat hanger scratcher now....
  4. Ahhhh.... HUH??
  5. They all look pretty groady. Soda blast them and they'll look like new.. Heck even a couple of cans of Carb Cleaner will make 'm presentable....
  6. With all these virus/firewalls mentioined I'm surprised that nobody runs TREND. About 15 years ago while runing unprotected I picked up a virus that locked me off the machine. Out of shear luck I back doored the block by doing a HD search, and double clicking on the last file downloaded.... it happened to be a URL that got me back on the web. Once on there was no way I was going to get off. I found Trend's free housecall and ran it. Found not only the one virus, but another 'timebomb' to go off at a later date. Trend found them and gave instructions on how to get rid of them. Nowdays they just squash them. They let me download a 30 day trial, which I did, and then bought the program for about 30 bucks, and they maintained it for 7-8 years free. It was a heck of a deal. Now I'm paying $40 bucks a year for the full Monty, and worth every penny. I guess what it comes down to is you get what you pay for. Don't expect the latest and greatest in a free-be......
  7. Don (Freebird) used to build center stands for a while, but has ceased production. Now Dave (Ponch) is working on building a new one for my '99. You might contact him to see if he'd like to make another?? You'll need to pick up a 1stGen center stand off Ebay, and Ponch will make the mounting bracket.
  8. OK... Listen closely.. Go take the wrench and put it in the dumpster....
  9. Same thing here. I always ran my 1stGens on reserve and tanked up a 150miles. The first trip on the '99.... I didn't know where anything was... the countup tripped, and when it hit 7miles I was nursing a doggy bike on the apron of the freeway. I assumed the thing was turned to reserve.... Nursed and coaxed it a half mile to the next exit and into a gas station. First thing I did when I got back to the barn is find and check that dang reserve pitcock... It was off reserve. Doh!!! It's now set where it should be... on reserve 24/7/365.25.... PS: What ever happened to good old Yankee ingenuity? When it gets to 150miles on the odo, stop and get fuel... If you've only traveled 75 miles and have a long stretch of road ahead, stop and top it off. I guess I just have a hard time dealing with a rider who want to take it to fumes before looking for a station. Believe me when I say you're not going to run out of fuel before 150. If you do you have bigger problems than dealing with a reserve switch...
  10. Thought I heard something about Dairy Queen......
  11. I've experienced the slow return to idle on several sets of carbs.... even after syncing. I've cured the problem by backing off all the sync screws, and starting from scratch. Amazing the difference in acceleration and response, and overall engine performance.....
  12. It's there. You just have to get past the glare...
  13. Great Pics Gary..... Keep 'm coming...
  14. They came with the bike when I bought it..... Good thing too!!! Passenger Floorboards
  15. Wow!!.... Big thread. To throw more fuel on the fire attached is a pic of the E3 on the '99. Pro'bly 300 miles on it. It does look like the start of a shiney spot on the side wall... but it's not making any sound.... FWIW.. PS... I also ran the tire for a couple of hundred miles without any air pressure in the rear shock. Finally picked up a good progressive pump, took it to 45psi, and it handles much better. Big improvement in low speed handling. BTW I tip the scales at.... ahem..... 350#.
  16. Whew!!..... As an ex Avon user I get the 'yips' every time I see a thread titled like this. Glad to hear it's a mechanical problem, and nothing to do with the E3's.....
  17. Got it Rusty. I think you already have the upgrade....
  18. If you haven't already done it you might get ahold of Ponch about replacing the tape deck with some meaningful guages....??
  19. Man, I'm lovin' this post......
  20. Thanks for the very well done comparison of the two lights. For what little difference there appears to be I think I'll go with the Ultras. I'm all for improving night time lighting, but when oncoming traffic is blinded, danger increases instead of decreases. I'm always having to look away when a HID vehicle approaches at night. They hurt just looking at them...
  21. I've used Lubri-Matic for years. Seems to last forever....
  22. Bet it was a typo and should have been a MKII....??
  23. I'd check the diaphragm to see just how much that needle is being pulled out. You may not be getting full lift at higher RPM's.........
