I've been watching them for years along with Barret Jackson... It's entertaining as all get out. Usually the first days cars are about the only ones I could possibily afford, but the fun comes in the next few days seeing cars I've owned going for mega-bucks... Never been to one in person, but maybe when all this Covid BS comes to an end I'll give some thought to BJ in Reno or Vegas... I hope this posts, cause I'm having a heck of a time .logging on... Hopefully now I am???

I know on the 1stGens the code is under the ignition custer and harder to see even when it's removed from the frame... Maybe a Yamaha dealer might be able to help with the vin?? Good luck finding those keys..

Thanks for the link to Erik Anderaa. Quite entertaining. The only thing that bothered me was his climbing all over the boat in heavy seas and not a jack-line or tether in sight. I don'i care how great a sailor you are, take a knock down and it's a long swim to shore...

Yeah but it's a lot of fun dreamin'... You might want to think about the size of your pipe dream boat. 45'-50' would be a hand full even for a couple to manage. For a single person it better be a floating city on auto everything, and be buddies with Larry Ellison... :-) Plus anything that size and you're going to have to deal with make shift crews and their personalities for any long passage. Plus being a slave to the boat's systems. What I enjoyed most about being around boats is the friends I made over the years while keeping my boat in a marina. Just like the friends I've made on this board what draws you together is the common interest of Ventures and we speak the same language. Same thing holds true in the sailing community. What I'd suggest to get your feet wet is start big enough to spends nights aboard, and small enough to trailer if the need arises to escape the marina rent. Costs go to zero when it's moored in your back yard. Something in the 26-27 foot range.. A Chrysler 26 is a great boat for that reason. I've owned one and have many friends that have...when we were younger... The reason a lot of the larger boats are on the market is the economy. Even big dogs are feeling the pinch and their 30-50 footer sitting in a marina becomes an anchor to the pocket book.. Marina rent doesn't and can't go away. The last time I checked slip fees were running around $8 bucks a foot and from what I've heard are now pushing $10. $400 to $500 a month starts to get old when things get tight. You might rationalize the cost if you're going to live aboard, but keep in mind most marinas don't have live aboard slips available... They're rarer than chicken lips... I hope I haven't put a damper on your dreams, because some of the best times of my life, besides MC touring, were sailing and when I had the boat in the marina. Old age has set in and even though I still have my 'love' she's sitting on a trailer in the back yard... For free.. ;-)

If you're looking for something like a Voyager Kit or another mfgs. Each mounting kit is prioritized to their particular brand.. The mounts are pricey. If you have a shade tree set up it's McGuiver time...

On the heating issue I don't think anyone has mentioned the thermostat by-pass being open. This will cause the coolant to flow faster than the radiator can cool it. Maybe Prairie Dog can supply a pic. I just redid my computer and now don't know where anything is... I also ran a little water wetter in the system. It did bring the temp down a bit but still a couple of needles under the red... In the winter the temp stayed way down. On the clutch issue I'm sure someone has said to bleed the system. Also check to see if the reserve is over full, or the expansion hole is plugged in the bottom of the reserve. Lots of great advice posted here...

Yeah the upholstery is awesome. Wish my '92 20' Four Winns Sundowner looked liked that... But that's why I got for next to nothing.. $600 bucks in a mechanics lean sale. The motor purrs like a kitten, but the furniture looks like a wolverine decided to eat it.. so it cost another $500 bucks to replace it online. I have it all ready to install, but this Covid thing and a health issue is putting it on the back burner til next year.. I saw that 2018 on the trailer. but wonder if a PO swapped out the tires. There's no way 2 year old tires should come apart like that... I just picked up a '97 RIB inflatable in San Francisco sitting on a '97 trailer and brought it home on the freeway without a problem. However one of the tires had a slow leak and went flat after about a week. When I looked at it there was a big crack in the sidewall. Replaced them both... I'm sure if the boat were heavier it would have went. Still it was a lot older than 2 years... You really picked up a nice boat....and I'm jealous...

Very nice looking boat, and gotta agree for an '86 amazing. On a trailer under that old of a boat the tires are generally toast but will hold up for a slo-mo trip home. Another thing I bring with me is a lube gun.. Never trust the buddy bearings to be serviced anytime lately.. Hopefully the motor runs and the tilt-trim hydraulics are in good shape...

Yep, there's a technique to picking one back up... They usually show a 105# woman picking up an 800# bike like it was nothing by using her legs and butt under the saddle. And it really works.... for some one short enough to get their butt that low, but for some of us that are horizontally challenged getting our butts that low and the legs only partially bent is a problem.... and pisses me off....

Wanna bet?? On hot days I like to ride with my full face shield cracked open a notch for more ventilation.. While on a day ride up in the Sierras I had a bee come over the top of the windshield and into the helmet and start stinging the heck out of my lower lip. I looked like Bubba in Forest Gump... Took about two hours before it returned to normal.. Damn it hurt!! Shield is now kept closed....

WOW!! Close call. My son-in-law also lost an eye and do you think all the *****ing and moaning about wearing protective glasses makes any difference?? And he's a commercial building painter!! Next time you decide to do some yard work you might try wearing one of those retired helmets we all seem to have out in the garage...or in the closet.. Glad it worked out...

I pickd up a POS KIA Optima for my daughter and finally ended up donating it to the Wounded Warrior Program. Never again will I buy a KIA....
