I heard it was the 7th.....

Tom, I think you have those side struts backwards. That ball plate should come out just about 3" under the fender... You've got it sitting way to low.... And those hangers are supposed to be flat stock not tubular. I may be wrong but I think you need to go back to the drawing board. It almost looks like the previous owner jury rigged a MKII Markland Hitch to fit a MKI???

moving trunk back?????????
Condor replied to painterman67's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks for the pics Tom. They give me some ideas, and also show what I need to do, and why I need to avoid the Z brackets.. I'm thinking of designing the brackets lower, and keep the trunk closer to the mount. Maximum rise would be 0.5" -
moving trunk back?????????
Condor replied to painterman67's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That's interesting as all get out. I like the skirt to hide all the brackets. I'm wondering how it deals with the 4-hole cluster of the front mounts. If it's for sale, what would you need to get out of it??? First dibs!! -
TEXASKID moved there from California... definately an upgrade... about 2 years ago, and seems to be doing OK. Give him a shout.

I wish there was a virus we could attach to our return email that would shut down the entire African Continent web infrastructure..... Hey, they do it in the movies.....

Well with a post title like that, you asked for it.... 'Specialy on this board... Actually the numbering started at 100 here in the US, and we have a member who has that bike. As far as one imported into the UK it looks like you may have a different numbering system as all '83's in the US have 'D' as the year designation in the in Vin#. 'N' here in the US would tell us it's a 1992 model year.

Dang that was a fun and intertaining video.....

Do you ever think of pulling over, and letting them by?? I'd like to know who goes the legal speed limit any more. Like I said that kind of an attitude will get you tailgated....
-
Yep, and that'll get you tailgated.....
-
You're kinda running out of time, but you might take the battery hot side (red) off and let it sit over night. If it doesn't go down any, you have a dead short somewhere on your bike. If it does go down it's the battery.... Then get it documented with the dealer so that even if the warantee runs out while working on it you're still covered.... You might also make sure the dealer is going to be open sometime between now and the 3rd...

Interesting I don't find that to be the case. What I do find is a rider, who has the cruise set, refuse to very his speed come hell or highwater. Those are the riders that will get tailgaited.
-
I don't seem to ever have a tailgater problem. If I'm in the slow lane mooching along I'll merge to the left and speed up. If I'm in the fast lane boogying I'll pull into a slower lane. If I'm out in the booneys on a one lane road I'll pull into a turn out and let 'm by....

There is, but this is a PG rated board.....

That looks so cool... I'd rather have a volt meter and temp with the tach, but I am bending..... Gonna make a 1stGen outta this '99 yet....

Candy Apple ????
Condor replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
It's metalic, but it ain't Candy Apple... CA looks like you could dive in. The first coat is gold metalic and then 6-7 coats of transparent red over the top. If the part is truly candy apple it will not match. It may have been off a custom painted bike... -
Find out when the rear shock was replaced last. If they can't tell you ask them to replace it before you lay out the cash..

Put in PCW spring/Skydoc's clutch upgrade now clutch lever won't move
Condor replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
5.8 ft/lbs is what the 2ndGen manual calls for. It does seem kinda weak. The screws on the 1stGens are 10 ft/lbs. At that torque I don't even use a torque wrench and just snug 'm down with a 1/4" rachet. On the stiff non-op clutch lever, with the pressure plate off try squeezing the lever very so slightly with a finger on the push rods. If the rods move then the problem is in the basket assembly. If it doesn't move the problem is from the slave to the master. It seems kinda dumb, but it eliminates half of the clutch system of errors. If it's in the basket put it together and try squeezing the lever again to see if the plate will move. If everything is working OK then button it up. If it doesn't work after the cover's on then you might be hitting the cover?? Just a thought.... -

Condor replied to Rocket's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)

Looks like all the heat went east this year.... Around here (CA) it's been one of the mildest summers I can remember in the last 40 years. It does happen every once in a while. I remember when a kid growing up outside of Buffalo NY we hardly had any snow one year and they had a storm dump 6" on SoCal. Bet they had a volcano go off then too....
