  1. Nice presentation. The problem with all that is he has a '91 and the rack and mounting system are entirely different than that of the MKI's....
  2. :thumbsup2:
  3. I've been thinking about what would be needed to move the trunk back on my '91. The Corbin seat sticks back under the passenger back rest about 2", and the passenger seat is a very tight squeeze as it's only 6" from the driver backrest to the passenger backrest. The front brackets are a piece of cake, and made out of 1/2"x2.5"x4" aluminum flat stock. It's the rear mounts that present a problem in that the extension needs to stick up into the trunk 27.5mm so the fitting will not only need to be about 1/2"x3" long, but will also need spacers to mimic the existing studs. I've actually measured everything out, but been too lazy to mock up a set. By keeping the highth of the extension to 1/2" it will raise the trunk only slightly and not be so high like others I've seen ... Maybe this winter I'll make a prototype. Thinking of getting with the company that builds our Fork Braces to see what it might cost to make them in numbers..
  4. Dang I miss my Beckman 310... Either it got legs or it's hiding somewhere.....
  5. Actually you can fly down to Puerta Vallarta, get the root canal, lay on the beach for a couple of days, and fly back for a third of what it would cost you in the US. Maybe that's why they call them third world countries?? The dentists down there went to the same schools as those here in the US and the quality is excellent. I got wind of this via sailors who have spent a few years sailing in Mexico. On the root canals. I've had 4 or 5 roots. They don't last. Spent mucho bucks with my family dentist for 40 years, and had to have three molars pulled afterwards... at an extra cost of course... because they just don't last. Now he wants to put in Bridges for another $2500 per. I'm getting used to not having a full set of grinders. Cosmetically no one can see them so what the heck.... I am thinking about doing the PV dance tho... On another note, one my friends who lives in Muleje, came down with something serious. Spent 10 days in the Loreto hosipital, plus meds, doc, nursing care, and the total came to $75 bucks. That's about $750 pesos. I know there's some folks who wouldn't put a toe over the boarder, but if you're a little adventurous you can save a bunch of bucks....

    Noisy??

Apparently they haven't heard a few of our members.....
  7. I had a local independant dealer try to explain how I could get 20 gallons in an 18 gallon tank that hadn't run out yet.... Ya gotta watch these guys. They will tweek the computor. A few years back they found a few dealers that reprogramed the computor to pour five exact gallons and then start short pouring the rest. What happen is the dept of weigths and measures would check the pump and find nothing wrong, but anyone taking on 5 gallons or more would get screwed. They were actually charging more than a national brand.

  9. Hope it all works out for you.... I'm still skeptical....
  10. Wow!!!! I just replaced mine and finally got to drive a little at night up in Nevada. There's a reason why they put a dash dimmer on the rest of the 1stGen's.... Out in the boonies without street lights, and only having the head light to point the way, makes having a dash lit up on high, kinda cut down on what you can see. Which brings up another question. Will the dimmer work on LED's??
  11. I have never made a mistake...... so far today....
  12. I did the Jason mod to the '83 and really couldn't tell any difference in performance. Rode with it to Ft Collins, and rode back home without it. 1100 miles each direction. No difference in gas milage. When I got back I put it back on because it gave the bike a little attitude and got rid of the sticato idle. It gave the motor a little lope which I liked. I'll do the mod on the '99 when I get around to it.
  13. Actually it took a long while to get the '91 to stop leaking, but now she only acts like a Harley once in a while, and purrs like a kitten. Nothing wrong with the '99 'cept it sucks gas like a horse eaten oats.. I haven't layed pixie dust on it yet... or it'd purr too... Been to busy buying do-dads for it....
  14. It'll give you warts.......
  15. Don't think you'll ever have that problem. I called MAC a couple of days ago and even though they have 1stGens on the website they aren't building anything for stock. So it's just if they get an order for 10 or more... and after the hastle I went through on the last group buy I wouldn't touch it again....ever... 1 year from the order date until delivery. Jardine doesn't even have them in their catalog any longer. So it's 'drill baby drill' from now on. One of our members installed a set of glass packs on his a couple of years back. Sounded good, but didn't look that great. Maybe some industrious member will install a set of Road Kings on a 1stGen?? They'll take some yankee ingenuity to get them attached to the collector and maybe a bracket like they use on the 2ndGen's to mount them, but I bet it could be done??
  16. Avon Venom or Dunlop E3's.... I'm running the E3's on the 99 and no complaints.
  17. As long as you're in there replace 'm all. I think there's about 8? The Sylvania 158 or equivalent bulb is what you need. They're available at any autoparts store...
  18. Hey I used to have that feeling..... But lately I find I've risen above all that 1stGen.. 2ndGen nonsense.....
  19. Hey Bucko... I can draw a straight line...!!! Now where's that ruler??
  20. Since the hitch wasn't a VentureDad as first reported, I'd still like a few pics Terry. Sent you an Email request as I'm not familiar with the Mark R Hitch. Aha!! I just found it. It an R Mark Hitch. Looks good, I'll email you.
  21. I posted a thread request for Cody 2011 Logos, but so far the thread has drifted off into the sunset... So I think I get it.... Ya'll want to get something for your efforts. So here's the deal. The member who designs the winning logo will receive 2 (one of each color) free T-shirts with their design emblazened across the back. Not enough you say?? OK, and a 6/pak of your favorite beverage... other than hard liquor... Hey, even we have our limits.. So are you feeling lucky?? Time to spread those creative wings, and send in your ideas.
