  1. On the front bearings I used a bearing puller from Harbor Freight when I did the '83. Worked pretty good. The '99 is telegraphing a viabration to the grips and the front end is moaning so I'll probbly do that one fairly soon. On the back bearings, although I've never been there, it's my understanding that there's one bearing that can't be replaced generically, and is only available from Yamaha. That's 1stGen info, not sure about 2ndGens??
  2. That's nutzo.... What some folks won't do for a few minutes of fame... If I'd done that to the '83 I wouldn't have been able to start it for a month. Sez a lot about the Harley electrical system....
  3. Yep, get cramps all the time. Usually when getting back on the bike after stopping a bit. Sometimes they are an SOB to get out. It mostly happens when I've been off the bike a while. On long multi-day trips it's generally the first day, then nothing.... Pushing 70 and proud of it.... It's been a hell of a ride... Old age is a state of mind....
  4. It really doesn't matter what you're pulling or haulin'. Anytime the forks work, the more they do so in unison the better off you'll be. In '09 at CodyI I took the '83 over the top of BearTooth Pass. It was a goat trail up on top with all the construction going on. The bike was as solid as a rock. Never once did I experience the grips being hard to hold onto from unexpected twisting....
  5. Radio Shack has those tips. BTW the allen screw just holds the tip in. The way you tune is by clipping the end. I personally wouldn't worry about tuning it since you're not going to be shooting skip. It's really got to be out a bunch to not be able get out a couple of miles. Also the tip element is 18.5" long if that'll help.... Heck any piece of rod about that same diameter will work.
  6. Great design cad Jeff. Here are a couple of pics of a Bustec hitch that came off an '89. I keep it as a bargaining chip..... Maybe it'll give you a couple of more ideas....
  7. Any antenna from 86-93 will work on your '91.... If it's just the tiip you can get a replacement at Radio Shack or some truck stops....
  8. Yamaha's tighter than a frog's a$$ when it comes to offering any informatiion on anything.... Either they are very elitist, or they're running the entire business out of their hip pocket....
  9. Is this the final, or the tire and wheel?
  10. It's alongside the Venture on the Wing Ding Patch.....
  11. There's a knob on the reserve valve.. Never did have one on the '83's. Just left it on open, and never missed it...
  12. Great pics Norm. Folks who have never been there have no idea of how majestic and breath taking the views are.... They gotta see it in person to experience it. God did good....

    LSD... The other stupid drug.....
  14. You betcha, we'll take your money.
  15. You got that right......
  16. Like the original post states Dave, I just ordered another 10. Several members have already sent their bucks..which is really appreciated..., but there's some left if you decide you'd like one. These will probably be the last batch I'll order before spring.
  17. I don't have a problem with it Tom. If that's what they are looking for, by all means have at it. It's just a couple of more miles down the road from the Skyline where hopefully most of the crowd will be at.
  18. Good Luck Earl....
  19. Let's make an administrative decision. The 'Committee' can Tar and Feather me later on if they want. The Official Cody VR International Lodging will be at the: Skyline Motor Inn $75 single 1 bed/queen - 18 single bed rooms available $84 Double 1 bed/queen $97 Double 2 beds + $5 per additional person - 28 double bed rooms available. Reservations 800-843-8809 This is the best price we've been able to find anywhere during the Cody high season, and they are great hosts and MC friendly. Anyone interested in coming to Cody in '11 needs to get their reservation in NOW. The rooms are not being held aside. They are on a first come..first serve basis. Wait until the last minute and I doubt you will find a room anywhere in town. The Cabins at the Ponderosa Camp Grounds are already booked up, although there is still room for trailers and tenters. With the 46 rooms at the Skyline, and the Cabins at the Ponderosa we'll have over 50 rooms plus tents. That should take care of our lodging needs. A few members have booked at other locations due to special needs, so all in all we should have a good crowd.. BTW: for any solo members that would like to buddy up for one of those 2 bed rooms at the Skyline the price will be less than a Motel 6. Think about it.
  20. Adjusting the rpm. Here's another very good reason why everyone needs to own a 1st and a 2ndGen. Start the 1stGen and set the rpm at 1000, then start the 2ndGen and adjust by ear to the 1stGen. Sync 2ndGen.....
  21. This brace is half the price. Super braces run $143.00 bucks... Need I say more....
  22. Actually Vin digits 4-8 designate the model atributes, so the serial number does not reflect all models and is specific to Ventures. Therefore, the last 6 numbers in a Venture Vin represents the vehicles 'birth' position and the total Ventures built to that time....
  23. Didn't want to get too far out of the groove. Old?.... yep. Beat up?....nah...!! Miss Piggy thinks she's a 1stGen.... http://l.yimg.com/eb/ymv/us/img/hv/photo/movie_pix/buena_vista_home_entertainment/the_muppet_show___season_one/_group_photos/miss_piggy5.jpg
  24. It's not a cumulative total for the intire model run, but a run for each year. 1stGens start out at 100. Not sure about RSV's. I own '99RSV #81.
