  1. I don't have a problem with it Tom. If that's what they are looking for, by all means have at it. It's just a couple of more miles down the road from the Skyline where hopefully most of the crowd will be at.
  2. Good Luck Earl....
  3. Let's make an administrative decision. The 'Committee' can Tar and Feather me later on if they want. The Official Cody VR International Lodging will be at the: Skyline Motor Inn $75 single 1 bed/queen - 18 single bed rooms available $84 Double 1 bed/queen $97 Double 2 beds + $5 per additional person - 28 double bed rooms available. Reservations 800-843-8809 This is the best price we've been able to find anywhere during the Cody high season, and they are great hosts and MC friendly. Anyone interested in coming to Cody in '11 needs to get their reservation in NOW. The rooms are not being held aside. They are on a first come..first serve basis. Wait until the last minute and I doubt you will find a room anywhere in town. The Cabins at the Ponderosa Camp Grounds are already booked up, although there is still room for trailers and tenters. With the 46 rooms at the Skyline, and the Cabins at the Ponderosa we'll have over 50 rooms plus tents. That should take care of our lodging needs. A few members have booked at other locations due to special needs, so all in all we should have a good crowd.. BTW: for any solo members that would like to buddy up for one of those 2 bed rooms at the Skyline the price will be less than a Motel 6. Think about it.
  4. Adjusting the rpm. Here's another very good reason why everyone needs to own a 1st and a 2ndGen. Start the 1stGen and set the rpm at 1000, then start the 2ndGen and adjust by ear to the 1stGen. Sync 2ndGen.....
  5. This brace is half the price. Super braces run $143.00 bucks... Need I say more....
  6. Actually Vin digits 4-8 designate the model atributes, so the serial number does not reflect all models and is specific to Ventures. Therefore, the last 6 numbers in a Venture Vin represents the vehicles 'birth' position and the total Ventures built to that time....
  7. Didn't want to get too far out of the groove. Old?.... yep. Beat up?....nah...!! Miss Piggy thinks she's a 1stGen.... http://l.yimg.com/eb/ymv/us/img/hv/photo/movie_pix/buena_vista_home_entertainment/the_muppet_show___season_one/_group_photos/miss_piggy5.jpg
  8. It's not a cumulative total for the intire model run, but a run for each year. 1stGens start out at 100. Not sure about RSV's. I own '99RSV #81.
  9. OK, we need a picture.....!!
  10. This is just a note letting those that might be interested??... I've received a couple of PM's from members who didn't get the word about the last of the Fork Braces So.... I just ordered another 10 Braces. They should be here the first or second week of October. Since I didn't want stick my neck out, and order 50 for max discount this time around, the price is going to be a tad more. $67 for the US, and $77US for Canada, and that's shipping included. Still a pretty good deal, and I don't have to sit on big bucks for over a year. That got old quick. So if anyone else wants one and missed out, here's your chance. Shoot me a paypal for the amount paypal@cast-aways.com and I'll get the brace headed your direction as soon as they come in. With the paypal, include your VentureRider.org 'handle' in the comment box.
  11. So would I.....

  13. In a state of confusion......
  14. I've heard of the punch mark, but have never seen one, nor know of anyone who ever has... So it just might be folk lore. Anything from #1417 and over in '85 will have the upgraded tranny. 1stGen trannys were fixed under warantee when they failed by Y. Whether they fixed any others under a recall might also be folk lore. If I had bought a new '83 or '84 I would have certainly had it fixed, and with the number that keep failing it seems either a lot of owners didn't care, or it was a well guarded secret at the time.
  15. Try heating it up with a torch and then see if it'll move. You've probably disintigrated a bearing and it's welded itself to the axle or cut a groove and you need to bust the bearing out of there. Any other suggestions???
  16. Since the fuel line is after the filter check to see if it's not breaking down on the inside. You might be getting small bits of rubber blocking the main jets and Sea Foam ain't gonna touch it....
  17. Not all butts are created equal. Some are padded better than others....
  18. That's a great town. I guess you could say it's the gateway to the 'Lost Coast'... and the 18th Century....
  19. Here's a link to LoneEagle's 2005 TD with a Harley trunk.
  20. I had a piece of shale do that to a 1200x16.5 10ply Armstrong Rhino tire on my old GMC 4x4 once. If a rock can get through that I don't give an Avon much of a chance. Like already posted that can happen to any MC tire. Take a look at an off road MC tire after a season sometime. It looks like someone has taken an axe to it..... In Earl's case, that's the first time I've seen cracking in the tread area. I looks more like old age, or over inflation, and those side cracks aren't anything to get excited about. I've seen much worse. I'm running a Venom on the '83 with wider cracks. Hasn't gotten any worse after the initial appearance. One thing we all need to take into consideration is no one has experienced catastrophic failure with an Avon Venom.... The cracks are disconcerning so I've gone to E3's on the '99, but still have a set of Venoms sitting in the garage waiting to go on the '91, and I won't have a problem using them...
  21. Here's another spin on this whole tailgating issue. Learn to live with it. Get distracted about someone tailgating you, and you're not paying attention to the other 100 possible dangers around you that'll ruin your whole day.... forever....
  22. Working now... weren't this morning...
  23. True, but if it doesn't sell he might get tired of moving it around in the garage.... but wait... it isn't in his garage any more....
