  1. It was back there somewhere...?? I think it was after the board crashed in '06 though?? I started to look at the pic closely and all of the vehicles are gone.. The last time we rubbed elbows was when we had dinner at the Red Robbin. If you ever get back into town to visit the kids give me a shout and we'll do it again.... And yep I remember the triple digit run to Susanville. We brought them down to 105 every once in a while. I loved those bikes.. :-) Cops has gone out of biz, then a high end restaurant opened and they are now gone. The Office is even leveled.... We had a great time back then.....!!! I've been giving a 2019 ride about some thought... Just depends on what I feel like after getting an Angiogram/plasty. The doc thinks I need to check things out for heart blockages... Maybe next summer I'll be able to hit the east coast???
  2. I just picked up a Marlin 1895G 45/70 from a dealer in Twin Falls ID a couple of months ago for $490. If your buddies gun is stamped JM on the bbl it will fetch a higher used price. The JM signifies it was made by Marlin before Remington bought them out. Supposedly they were made better?? I only have plans to shoot Cowboy Ammo which is a lighter load. I also have an 1874 Pedersoli/Sharps Copy Target weighing in at 14lbs. You need cross sticks to hold up the dang 34" Octagon bbl.... In the olden days when they ran out of ammo they could do just about as much damage using it as a club.... :-)
  3. Way back when I had an O/U sample shotgun... an 'el cheapo'... that I shot a few rounds of trap with. That thing beat me to death... Good thing it was a sample 'cause it went back... I haven't put a round through it yet, but I just picked up a S&W 60-14 with CTC grips in .357mag. I plan on feeding it 38's only, and even they may be too much 'cause like Jeff I have big hands and can barely get 3 fingers on it... I'll try it out, and if I don't like it, it'll probably go to my SIL the retired LEO as a concealed. Not sure what I'll replace it with...
  4. Hey Steve, Just fired off a note to Zzyzx Ed Williams. He could use a few parts and now lives in Tennessee. MOF he has my old gold '83VR. And I assume the scoot on the right is the one your parts came off??? Ed and Patty just stopped by for a visit a couple of days ago, and are out touring... and I think...heading back to the barn, so he may not respond right away. http://www.cast-aways.com/vr91vs83.JPG
  5. Thanks... I just hope I can get the stamina back like everyone else. It's been a while since I've put any miles on a scoot, and the last long ride was in 2015 for the Venture West at Yreka/Shasta... One of the things I'd really like to do is take one more ride-about and wander around the US for about 4-6 weeks. I have family and friends all over. MOF @Zzyzx and Patty his squeeze from Tennessee dropped in for a visit a couple days ago. I want to return the visit. Plus I have in-laws that live near Winston-Salem NC so they're in the neighborhood... So I'm ready... :-)
  6. This time around add a few ozs. of a alcohol based de-icer or conditioner and that won't happen. The alcohol keeps the moisture suspended in the fuel and not settle to the bottom of the tank. That said I wonder with this 15% ethanol if it might do the same thing?? You might have also noticed lately that you're not getting the same gas milage as you were a year ago... That's the 15%. I know my truck's gas milage has gone to hell in a hand basket... So has my kids vehicles...
  7. Holy Rat Feathers... I guess we have two guys with lots of $$$, without a whole lot of common sense, having a pissing contest. An auctioneers dream...
  8. Yep, know what you mean and I'm not sure what it's there fore. Always been a mystery to me too. There was an aftermarket chrome piece that just sticks on the area, but the slot isn't needed for that either... Maybe someone know's exactely for sure???
  9. I wonder if it's any different going thru the arm rather than the groin?? I'm in the process of having an angioplasty and I always thought that they went thru the leg, but my Cardiologist told me they now go into the arm because it reduces the possibility of hidden bleeding...?? I had a pick-line once that went into the arm and up to the heart in surgery recovery, and it worked fine...
  10. Most of the 1stGen old timers on this board just leave it on reserve and start looking when the trip hits 150. That's generally 2 hrs in the saddle and time to get gas, stretch the legs, take a nap, get a drink, or pee.
  11. It just doesn't make sense.... The last I checked the bidding is up to $2700. For half that you could pick up a new Montana Rifle that I'm sure will perform equally as well. I guess Barnum was right?? http://montanarifleco.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/MontanaRifle2018Catalog_EMAIL.pdf
  12. I think if you're sure it's a rod, I'd try to re-bearing it first before :mo money:on some other option...?? With that few hours it's strange that you'd be having problems so soon....
  13. Well Ben ya beat me to it..... I'll have one done sometime next week. Sounds like yours was a little sneakier than mine... I went to ER twice in 3 days. Now that I'm on the meds I've had three nights in bed vs. up all night trying to catch my breath. My stamina is gone also. Looking forward to getting it up again....
  14. Very nice.... Professionally done.. Thanks
  15. LOL... I knew it!! If I talked about guns long enough something like this would happen.... :-)
  16. CAR-McMASTER also has a great selection of odd-ball 'stuff' in SAE and Metric... https://www.mcmaster.com/#e-clips/=1dqkrik
  17. Here's my spin. The bike with the mileage on today's market is worth $5,000 max. The Hannigan originally cost $10-$11,000. Used and 8 years old it should sell somewhere in the $7-$7,500 area. So put 'm together and you're looking at $12.500 max. Take an offer close to that and you'll be OK....
  18. That's why I didn't click on anything...... Got roped into that once before. It was a PITA. BTW not only will you get charged..or in this case free... for the video, but you'll get charged for one month of prime that if I remember is about 11 bucks.... But they don't give you a heads up until they want to charge you for another month... Tricky Basderds... One more thing about Amazon. Free shipping ain't so free. Google what you need and do a price comparison with a direct seller. 9 times out of 10 they will be cheaper with shipping than Amazon free.... IMVHO.....
  19. Well that was intertaining, but where's Willie Nelson when you need him... LOL :whistling::whistling:
  20. All this rhetoric about open carry in this state and that state, is a good reason to take away the state control of firearms and make it government DOJ/ATF only. The 2nd Amendment right to own a firearm is Constitutional, and should be the law of the land everywhere, and not take a back seat to all these inane state restrictions that, in a since, undermine the 2nd.... IMHO... http://www.cast-aways.com/CONDORPICS/Sam-Side.jpg
  21. That's what I did on my 99. It took a little McGuivering 'cause I wanted to keep the 99 co-ax. I can't remember exactly what I did but it had something to do with the tearing the connector apart and putting it back together somehow??. MY 99
  22. Well yeah...kinda... Never got into any organized archery, but have killed a tree stump or two... Here's a pic of my dusty Darton 70# left handed.. (left master/ right handed)... Darton was the first to get into mechanical bows....
  23. The knurled sleeve pulls straight up and will turn to unloosen if it's jambed. Over time it can get jambed down really tight and you need a 'tool' to get it to move. A soft rag and channel locs will work. A little lube will keep it from happening again. Here are a couple of pics of what the CB Antenna looks like and what's under the sleeve. For those sharpies that are really observant you'll notice that the CB is mounted on the Radio bracket. The CB has about a 2' co-ax. The radio co-ax is longer and runs to the front of the bike. They came that way when I bought the set... Easy fix..someday..:-)
  24. Back when they made that shotgun every part was hand fitted. They really didn't get into stamping until the 870, and then investment casting in the late 60's early 70's... You might check with a gunsmith and see if he might be able to get those barrels to fit??? Grampa's guns and the memories are always the best......
  25. That's funny. The 700 with the bi-pod in the above pic came out of an auction from a lawyer that had planned on doing some hunting and the trip fell through. The story was that it had only been shot a couple of times to sight it in.. So after the auction I asked the auctioneer if there was any ammo with it, and he said indeed there was and gave me a brand new box of Remington Core-Loks and there were no empties.... Ya can never trust those lawyers to give you the straight scoop. Unlike, I'm sure your's, this one still hasn't been shot.... :-)
