This thing is viral. So a search on Google for and The scam is all over the place. And apparently there are a few folks that are falling for it..... What I can't understand is that if I can find a lot of them using Google, why can't CL???

I think it all depends on your trailer setup. If you need to install a 5 to 4 converter then I'd think under the seat, but if you have a 5 wire trailer, and don't need to convert, you could connect inside the taillight housing and come out of the base??

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that it seems like most everything Pinwall lists on Ebay has a flaw somewhere? Rips in seats, cracks in plastics, broken tabs, scrapes, faded paint. I would think that when they buy a wrecked bike there would at least be a few good pieces left on it??? Are they keeping the nice stuff for the store and using Ebay as a dumping ground?? Prices always seem to be high too.

Maybe water/moisture in the controll head???

Hope you don't fall into the 'underinsured' trap. Ask Yammerdan about it. Basically your insurance company doesn't have to pay a thing since it wasn't your fault. The onus is on the other company. You may have uninsured coverage, but a lot of companies require a seperate rider for underinsured. Check with your company, you may only be half way there in coverage. Sometimes it would be better off if the guy didn't have any coverage at all....

Yours are Power Strokes Mike. My '92 is naturally asperated. It get's about 16.5 to 17mpg. The problem is it's a '92 and is getting long in the tooth. I'd like to find something nice and fairly current that will last me another 20 years, and at my age it will probably be my last hoorah. I just looked up the Trade in/Private Party value on the 2008 and got a bloody nose. Plus it still needs the sellers permission to let it go to the high bidder (bank owned). So much for getting a buy.... I'll watch the auction, but I don't have much hope of getting it.

Can you imagine pulling up to a stop sign and everyone hearing the Harley Potato and seeing that one....

If you ever find one that works let me know. Right now a zip-lock&rubberband will have to do....

That would help huh?? paypal@cast-aways.com -
Interesting Jeff... Ours never did that until recently when I swapped out the water pump/radiator. Maybe it's finally running normal??? I thought that about the pick stuff too, but I ran green in it when we bought it used in 2001, and when I went to the pink/orange stuff things started to happen. BTW I still have the orange coolant in the '83VR.

It's off the OEM. I'm not too worried about accuracy as much as the repeatability, and it does settle back in to the same place it always has....

I thought about that the mech stated that the flush even cleans out the heater core... The reason I'm suspecting a problem is that it's never heated up to 240 and fluctuated like that in the past. I just had another idea, and will check the fan clutch when I get the chance.
-
Yeah, it is but it the road traveled from a cold start to get there. It doesn't just heat up to 190 and stay there. The system was pressure tested while the flush was being done. If a gasket were leaking hot exhaust into the water jacket and would be causing the thing to heat up and boil over.... I think??

I need to pick a brain or two. I have a 98 1500 suburban 5.7 Vortec that I'm having some heating problems with. I had a new radiator, water pump, and thermostat installed early this last summer. I noticed that the radiator cap went on without having to push down on it. So I bought a new cap and the new one did the same thing, and I wasn't getting any pressure build up in the system. So I bent the tabs on the new cap a bit and then I got compression. So now, this what it was doing. Start off in the AM and the guage will run up to 240 degrees before dropping back down to around 160-170. Then slowly rise again to about 210 and then back down, finally settling in at about 190. I'm suspecting a screwed up thermostat. Also... it had that orange coolant in the system. Actually the coolant looked clear but the cr@p floating around in the system plugging everyting up looked like rust/orange. Anyway I digress. So I took the car down to a good mechanic and they flushed the sytstem, put in fresh 'green' coolant, and installed a new HD 195 thermostat. Not an 'el cheepo' but a good one. The one that came out was caked with the orange stuff. Ugly. Now this is what it's doing. It still heats up and drops back down, but not as high a temp as before, but the bottem temp is the same. Fresh coolant, new thermostat, clean system. It's still acting like a bad thermostat. Now I'm thinking. Could the sensor be bad, and sending signals to the computor, and the CU is retarding/advancing the timing and causing the problem??? Any ideas??

That's a nice mount. Too bad they don't make one for the Garmin c550.....
-
Nah, it's pretty basic, but it does have a CD with the manual and quick start instructions.... I'll get it sent off to Dave after the holidays, and he can work on getting it mounted up for ya... It's a wide touch screen and has 3D imaging. Once you get the hang of it you'll do fine... I'll go ahead and Email you a pfd manual so you can get an idea of what's going on.

I bet one of those dent repair guys can 'massage' it out. As long as the paint hasn't been damaged.... It's worth a try. Nothing ventured.. nothing gained. Besides they usually only charge around $25.00 per dent....

Consider yourself very lucky. Ford lost a ton on the 6L diesel. When they first came out they were dropping like flies, and weren't offered more than a couple of years.... Wish they still offered the IDI. Put 365,000 on the '87 6.9 and have 270,000 on the '92 7.3 so far. So much for the EPA/CARB restrictions. The 6.4 turbo get's about the same milage as the IDI's, the jury's still out on the lasting power....

1st gen MKII carb question
Condor replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I noticed in the pfd file specs that the hp rating for the 1200 MkI and the 1300 MKII were listed as the same at 97hp, and it's been a while, but I'm sure I found a listing for the hp on the 1200 @ 94hp in a service manual or owners manual somewhere... The extra hp came from the +100cc's and caming maybe?? More weight needs more low end grunt. So it made sense to me??? -
I feel for you Annie. About 3 summers ago California was on fire and we had smoke everywhere. Thought it would never end. We had fire crews in here from most of the western states all summer long. I drove up to Idaho for my Grandson's wedding in June and didn't get out of the smoke until I got to Idaho.... 700 miles east.

Hope the insurance coverage pans out. Definately looks like your 2-story 'man cave' needs to be rebuilt completely. Glad no one was hurt, and your trike was out of there.

Try picking up a set of pillow top seats from a later year RSV. -
Electrical Problem
Condor replied to Sgt.Keele's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Need more info. Did the bike die and you couldn't restart it, and had to jump it, or did it die and then you could restart it? Also were you running your tape deck at low rpm?? Those tape decks eat amps like a horse eating oats, and the stator will not charge unless over 2000rpm. If it isn't a loose ignition wire, I'd still suspect the battery... Wet cells don't provide a lot of cc amps, and can be drained quickly if all systems are on and running under 2Krpm. -
Another winter storage question
Condor replied to ragtop69gs's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The trick is to keep the surface of the bike warmer than dew point. Without getting real technical, anytime moist air.. doesn't neccessarily have to be warm...hits a surface colder than dew point, moisture will condense on the surface. Even in subfreezing temps you will get condensation. It's called Rhime or frost. I really don't need to worry about dew on the bikes out here on the west coast as we rarely hit dew point in the central valley, but has anyone thought of using an electric blanket, set on very low, under a cover. It generally only take a couple of degrees to get the bike warm enough to keep it above dew point. -
Yep, if I were heading to Alaska it would be on one of these or a 1200GS.....
