The plunger doesn't actually pump the fuel, but it's a separator that opens the points when the line pressure builds to max. It may be stuck and not letting the points close. You may also have a power supply issue?? If it is an internal problem with the pump buy another used one and swap out the points if the power checks out. 99 times out of a 'hundred it's generally the points... but there's always that 1%...??

Same here.... :-) Now I salivate when I see a '58 cross the block at BJ..... I think it was the vast body style change from the very popular '57. It had to grow on ya...... If I won the Lotto the '58 would be the one I'd go after....

Back in the 60's..70's I owned some very cool cars... Bought them off the used market 'cause I could never afford anything new right out of high school. Now I see them on Barrett-Jackson for way more than this kid can afford....again.. '56 Chevy 2-dr., 53 Ford coupe, 59 Impala convertible, etc.... What ticks me off today is I never took any pics of them... They were just cars... Who knew???

Welcome to the small but dedicated group of Venture Rider gun enthusiasts. This is what happens when we get bored or in some instances snowed in... ... I'm glad we have guys like you around. I let you build them and then I collect them... :-) I've noticed a few members that follow the same mind set... It takes a real talent to build a quality rifle out of an old Mauser Action from scratch. One of my favorite 'Customs' to collect...

He's on the road and by now probably somewhere in California visiting the kids down in Wilton. Haven't received an invite for ice cream yet so they're up to their ears in GK's....

With all of the problems noted I haven't had so much as a hic-cup accessing the board. My bookmark doesn't include the https, and just starts with www. Once here, the address window shows the https prefix.... I'm running Chrome, and still using some of my old bookmarks imported from IE, which is where my VR bookmark is located. Anything new get tagged to my Chrome bookmark file... Also still using Windows 7....

Anyone riding west of the Mississippi is going to be close to a fire somewhere.... We've got the big one going in Redding and it's hazy/smoky today down here in Sacto . We have our fair share of fires in California, but after looking at a fire map of the western US we're not as bad as some states... https://www.fireweatheravalanche.org/fire/

I'm just wondering if you squeeze the halves together near the lock it might relieve it enough to complete the turn?? There might be some crud in the channel?? -
I think in one of his other threads they were planning on riding out to visit the kids in California fairly soon.... They may be on the road?? At least I hope so...

The only reason I noticed it was it was the last item... That's why I said to scan the whole thing... I wasn't going to...

You might want to go over the invoice a little more... Labour: 10hrs at 109.95 is 1099. Not 1199. Kinda like rubbing salt in a wound... And yes the parts are crazy..

Talking about running out of gas joggled my brain a bit...yes it still gets joggled once in a while.... Well...back in the early 70's the only major north south highway in California was 99 running up through Bakersfield to Sacramento. About that time construction of the southern section of I-5 was being built, splitting off 99 at Wheeler Ridge and heading up to Hwy152, and joining up with the completed northern section toward San Francisco. So the big day comes for the grand opening. They cut the ribbon and hundred's of vehicles rejoiced and took the new highway. The problem... The powers to be never gave it a thought that they would need to get fuel somewhere along the way. You guessed it... not a gas station in close to 200 miles. They had 100's of cars and probably a few MC's strewn out all along the new stretch with empty tanks... They came to the rescue with tanker vehicles handing out enough free gas for those stranded, which was just about everyone, to make it to the I-5/Hwy152 intersection. What a fluster cluck.... An addendum... The first station to get up and running about half way at Hwy41 was pumping 30,000 gallons a day and they had to send an armored truck out to pick up the cash... remember the credit card wasn't king just yet... The only thing available were gas cards and if you didn't have that brand you were SOL.... So cash was king. Anyone remember the 20X Blue Chip stamp gas wars?? :backinmyday::backinmyday:

Wet heat...Dry heat... It don't make any difference.. The cure when you find yourself getting overheated... GO SKINNY DIPPING....!!!

I feel very fortunate to live in Northern California.... It only hit 105 yesterday. Youse folks closer to the Mex boarder are getting hit with 115's, but they're used to it and it's a dry heat.... :-) I remember back many years ago when Phoenix had a heat wave of over 120 for close to a week... Everybody went underground... My utility company is going to get rich next month....

If the expansion hole is clear then you have air in the line. I'll send you a PM on what I had to do to get the air out. Simple, easy, and quick.

Back in 2011 Lone Eagle and I were riding to Cody Wy after spending a night In Rock Springs. I had electrical issues with the '99RSV while pulling a trailer in Thermopolis and when we got them sorted out we continued on to Cody 80 miles up the road. Rock Springs.... where we last fueled.... to Thermopolis is 194 miles. Because of the problem neither one of us thought to top the tanks off again. Half way to Cody Vic pulls alone side of me on his RSTD slapping the side of his tank. He's already on reserve due to his smaller tank. My '99 is down to the last bar and pulling a trailer is sucking gas like a horse eating oats. We both reduced speed and did twisties all the way to Cody. Right into the first gas station we saw. Vic had a tenth of a gallon left, and I still had some issues so stuck in a gallon and we went to the motel. After messing some more the next day I topped the tank off with another 5 gallons. That's the closest I ever want to running out of fuel on a bike... again.. :-) Back in the late 50's I ran out of fuel late on a Sunday night, and pushed my Ariel Square Four (525lbs) 5 miles before finding an open gas station. Not a fun experience, but I'll take the memory of that station logo to my grave.... That's why I start looking for gas at 150 on the odo, and don't give a damn about the gas gauge..Eat your hearts out on the fuel prices back them....

That sounds like a plan... I have family in NoCarolina, plus youse'ns, and Ed in Tennessee. Cousins in Florida and Buffalo. So that should keep me intertained... :-) My wife and I did a circumnavigation of the US back in '89. It'd be great to do it again.... Dang!! I gotta drag the '04 trike out and start polishing...

Something we should all be aware of is that the same caliper load will generate the same recoil energy no matter which gun is used. What makes one rifle perceive to recoil more than another is stock fit. Length of pull, stock height, and cast-on or cast-off. The cast-off for RH shooter, and cast-on for LH shooters. Basically it means that with a RH shooter the stock is offset a couple of degrees off center and will pull away from the shooters cheek rather than recoil into the cheekbone. Visa-versa cast-on for a LH shooter. In todays modern guns the OEM cast is usually set to 'zero', but when fitting a custom aftermarket stock it should be included in the fitting...
