  1. I used to have all sorts of problems being sensed in the left turn lane. So I picked up a magnetic gizmo at the local BMW store while slumming. IT took all of 5 seconds to install, afterwards it was very rare that I didn't get a green arrow. I zip tied it to one leg of the center stand on the '83...
  2. Here's a video from Leno's garage of the unveiling. The K1600 has some nice innovations, but listen to the motor when they fire it up at the end... Some may find the sound a little familiar... BMW K1600
  3. I don't have them, but I see one thing that may be a deal breaker. The TM80 is a mono tone, while the Magnum is a dual.... For something that would demand more attention I think I'd stick with the dual....
  4. At the risk of starting another tire discussion, I've used Avon Venoms on my 1stGens, and am now runing Dunlop E3's on the '99. I like them both. Jake Wilson seems to have the best price.
  5. Listen Tommy, the seller is responsible for describing the item correctly. Pictures help to judge condition, but no one should have to go over a listing with a fine tooth comb to make sure ever thing is absolutely correct. Especially on Pinwalls Ebay listings. They're some of the worst ones I've seen on Ebay.
  6. I'm with Goose on this one.... That's BS.... It's not the $8 bucks, and it's not your problem, it's their fault. They should knock an extra 20% off the price of the replacement, and pick up the tab of the return shipping for customer goodwill for causing the problem in the first place.
  7. I flew in and out of Victoria once. Got off the plane and thought the pilot had made a wrong turn somewhere. Palm trees, warm, grass, kinda humid.... thought I was in Hawaii. Nice little town from what little I saw of it. Spent the rest of the time down in Yokum at a sales meeting.
  8. Nope... Something else will pop up that you just gotta have....
  9. OFF Ebay My packing cost $19.00 bucks... looks like it may have gone up a bit.. Your gonna need 2 pieces 17"x8". It's easy to cut to size. And I actually trimed the thickness down from 1" to about 3/4" which is also easy. Just pic at a corner about a quarter inch down and it'll peal off that layer. I also bought some stainless mesh/screen from McMasters-Carr. I bought 8x8 mesh which ended up being a little too stiff to work easily. Next time I'll get something a little flimsier. I bought a piece 24x12 and cut to what I needed. Ran around 30 bucks. Nope haven't riden with them yet... It's wet outside. Stay tuned. I'm going to do a before and after video.
  10. Nice pics Rick. Looks like youse guys had a great time....
  11. Most of the Venture parts have the part number somewhere on them. What's stamped on the Pinwall part?? Do a Google search for the part number. It's the best way to find out what bike it fits.
  12. Oh man... Somebody's going nutzo..... :dancefool:
  13. If you plan on ditching the side car, $3700 bucks is a lot of money to be spending on an '83 unless it's close to new with low miles. There are a lot of very nice '83's on the market in the low $2000 range.
  14. Great reminder Randy. Sometimes over time we have a tendency to forget what we've learned thru experience. Preventive Maintence would be a lot easier and quicker than after it breaks. If I remember correctly this used to be a problem on the '83 MKI's.
  15. I found that even tho the rivets were drilled out to the right size I still had to knock them out with a drift punch. Then it took a little persuading to git the tips to start to slide out. I took a good sized pocket knife and inserted it in the crack between the body and the tip and worked it around. Once the gap widened a bit I took a flat head screw driver and twisted it in the gap to coax the tip out a little further. Then it was a matter of rocking the tip back and forth while pulling on it. If the Bub's have been on for a few years they build up corrosion between the body and the lip. It takes a bit to get them seperated. While you have the tips off you might as well rebuild them. I bet there's nothing left to the packing. On mine I used Ceramic packing. From what's been reported it doesn't breat down a easy. I'll know personally once it stops raining and I get them installed.
  16. We have a set of twins born on the 16th. A PITA....
  17. I'm hard to buy for... Too many interests and too many play toys already. But I did tell the wife that if it gets cold enough she's going to have a White Christmas. She laughed and said 'Yeah right'. So I gave her a 2 pound box of See's white chocolates....
  18. Another nice thing about the K'n'N's is the warantee. Needed a replacement for the oil soaked foam seal on an older 1stGen K'n'N. Sent them an email offering to buy another seal and they replaced it NC. The warantee is real...
  19. Steve you've been PM'd
  20. After that much Sea Foam thru the system you probably need new plugs. You may have one or two that are fouled and the fuel is burning in the exhaust stream causing the high temp readings. Also probably what's causing the rough idle??? My
  21. A few years ago when I needed a new helmet I read every mag test article I could find. Finally bought a Nolan 100E full face flip. It rated right up there with some of the pricy lids in performance and protection, wasn't cheap, but no where near the price of a high end Arai, Shoei, etc. I now own 3 of them... ya gotta match the bike color ya know...
  22. I hear ya. I've watched it 3 or 4 times. The photography plus the music are adictive. All the days troubles just seem to melt away and it takes you to another place.....
  23. Very interesting, but I hate those anode posts. Unless you're very carefull, with the bike on the side stand, that dang nut will fall out and disappear somewhere in the innerds of the bike. I've already lost two when I installed the DEKA. And at $186 I'll wait a bit until the price gets competitive....
  24. This was posted on another board by a very accomplished artist and photographer. Hope she doesn't mind me posting it here. It's well worth viewing. [ame=http://vimeo.com/18026388]Riding the World[/ame]
