My thinking on this is.... the only time I monitor the CB is when traveling in a group..... so if can get out a half mile at the most I'll be happy. I'm not looking to shoot skip to Oz. This thread has gotten really off track from my original post, and I'm still looking for feedback from anyone who has upgraded their antenna's from the original OEM to the new style OEM. Maybe no one's ever done it before????

Retro Tachometer - A different approach
Condor replied to phertwo's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
A little more info on a Marine Diesel tach. The last Teleflex I installed on a Yanmar Diesel Outboard had a magnetic pick up that read off the number of teeth on the flywheel. -

If you'd like to just replace the tip of your antenna you might try this source.... http://www.mcmaster.com/#type-303-stainless-steel-rods/=atexis -
Retro Tachometer - A different approach
Condor replied to phertwo's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Just what I was about to ask. I set an Autometer Pro-Cycle tach to the Harley setting and wondered if it was right for the '99RSV?? I haven't installed it yet, so I wasn't sure if it was right or not. Also wasn't sure what Goose had posted previously, but I guess I remembered right. -
It's my understanding the Ebay owns about 25% of Craigslist, and they also have a fee real estate/apartment rental site in the New York City area that pays the frieght. They also have a few folks that work for cheap. I use CL for buying and selling. Not very often, but enough to know the ins and outs. Scams are getting worse, but easy to recognize. I had one ammo wanted ad flagged over and over again by one jerk, so I just kept relisting it again as soon as the email flag notice was received. Since I had more time on my hands then he did, I wore him out. Got some great deals on rifle ammo and reloading equipment off CL. I think most of the flags are from 'pseuso' dealers who can't stand the competition.

It looks cool, if that's what you like, but removal of the antennas when putting on a cover is what I'm dealing with now. I know they do fold down but it's just as much trouble to unscrew the keeper as remove the antenna. I want to put the cover on without having to take the antennas off, and I also like the all metal spring loaded base sleeves of the upgrade OEM antennas. If I can install them using the original cables, it would be a plus.

Mine isn't a Bush but I can open up my lid with out a key, but is lockable when needed. Maybe this style will help

It's the cable conection to the mount that's the big problem. The antenna base is swedged onto the cable end. It's all one piece and an SOB to remove. I'm wondering if anyone has redone the connection when they've replaced the older plastic based antennae with the newer metal based type, or did they have to go out and pick up new cables?? And how'd it work afterwards. I finally cleaned out the cable tip and parts from the base, and wished I had a diagram of the components and how they built the Dang thing in the first place. I know enough about CB antennae to understand the function of the connector, just want to get it right using the original cable off the older antennas.... Buying new cables is out of the question. I just don't want to end up with a glob of PL259's and fold down or spring loaded adapters on the bracket...

Yep, producing a good mold is the hard part. That's where all your imperfections are going to show up. Try it on a 40' boat mold sometime..... Not fun...

Has anyone on the board ever upgraded their '99 CB and Radio antennas to the newer style. The pics and diagrams in the service pdf aren't all that great and leave a lot of questions. Just wondering what you had to do to get'r done.... I have the complete setup including the brackets. I'm not all that interested in doing the Marshall Antenna Mod, so those suggestions are gonna fall on deaf ears... Any insight would be appreciated....

Ditto on that. I've tried others but keep coming back to Advanced.... I did upgrade and then my HD crashed during a lightening storm and I lost the program. I just went ahead and downloaded the Free version and it's doing fine. I suppose I could contact them to see if they still have a record of the upgrade, but I can't see much gain. http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html

progressive spring install
Condor replied to showmebob's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It all depends on how much preload you'd like. My new Progressives came with two 6" spacers. I tried the whole spacer, but for me at least it was a PITA compressing the spring enough to get the caps started. So I cut one spacer in half and ending up with each two 3" spacers.. If you compress the spring too much you'll defeat the progressive action only leaving the stiffer section and a harder ride. I still had the Class to adjust air load. Worked great.- 18 replies

I just picked up a couple of bike covers off Ebay from China. Got'm in about 10 days. So I guess Homeland Security only applies to certain countries.... Maybe it's "He who has the gold, makes the rule".... What get's me is why the H they're opening up packages in the first place. They have drug dogs, where are the bomb dogs??

Gout's a b-itch. I've never had it that bad, but from what I have had, I can only imagine what kind of pain you're in. Prayer's sent.

Just about every Y part is keystoned.... In other words doubled from wholesale price. So at 40% they're still making 10% on Internet sales. Not great, but a lot better than 50% of nothing. My local Y deal just had a parts sale where everything was $1 buck over cost. One interprising individual walked in and ordered a set of Billet Wheels to the tune of $1200. Saved big bucks....

And Bob's gonna slap me too.... The Odyssey is an AGM not a Lithium.... If it were a lithium it would weigh practically nothing when compared to a wet cell,, or AGM.... Here's a link to the new Lith's. http://www.shoraipower.com/s-46429-XVZ13-Royal-StarVenture-All.aspx
