Yep.... My first restoration was a '69 754 with the sand cast engine... Unfortunately I was too egg-nor-ant to take any pics.. Just rode the 'H' out of it...

The way you go through rolling stock it'll probably be something else in a very short period of time..... Wish I were as close to a launch ramp as you are.... :-)

Log cabin kits/prefab, anyone with any experience?

I also sold a couple of spinnakers to a couple down around Gunnison that lived in a Yurt. One of those things the Mongolians live in on the Steppes... They used the sails as room dividers -
Yeah, I'm getting really worried too. He hasn't posted since 7/15, and for him that's like a druggie going cold turkey. I starting to wonder if anyone here has the number of the kids in Wilton?? The last report I heard was when videoarizona... i think??... talked with them on the phone way back when.. The phone they were using didn't have internet access was the excuse for not posting, but by now they should have found something.... unless they got hung up in Sturgis?? It was one of the Pucster's favorite places to go.... Still and all he has been having health issues and hinted about them occassionally. I hope that's not the reason....

Tall guy problems...
Condor replied to tallmanskuban's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I think this needs to be said. Anything less then 6'3" isn't tall and you have no idea what us horizontally challenged people go thru trying to make something fit our bodies. Being 6'8" is in a class all it's own. And even then it all depends on inseams. All legs or all waist... Heavy or reedy... Being old, fat, and tall, I personally have found the stock seat on a 2nGen to be the most uncomfortable riding set up of any bike I've ever ridden, or I imagine the most comfortable for those who are somewhat shorter or in some cases skinnier... And I do envy you. So all the suggestions of how great theirs is doesn't hold a candle unless you're up around 6'8".... :icon_lurker: -

I used to be 6'8", but got old... When I got down to 6'6" and bought my '83VR I still consider it to be the best.. most comfortable riding bike I've ever owned. It had an aftermarket seat that wasn't anything special but was leather and softer than stock... For the highways I used a Kuryakyn Long Horn Mount and extended the pegs farther forward. See the pic...hard to tell the extension because of the angle but it's there. Also on long trips I packed a duffle with all the soft stuff to one side and put it in the passenger seat. Was great for leaning back on long boring legs to the next gas station... -

Instead of a log cabin take a look at a straw house.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw-bale_construction -
You got that right... Just north of us we have two HUGE fires and they still don't have any idea when they will be contained. We also have a few large ones south of us, and because of that we get smoke and haze in varying degrees depending on the winds... We even have ash falling on the cars over night. Hopefully the weather is starting to cool off which will give some relief to the fire fighters, but the fires are still mostly out of control. What's surprising is that we've only lost 140 homes. I think what they are doing is borate bombing the crap out of threatened structures. Now we have mud slides to look forward to this winter.....

I did and didn't see anything new.... I'm starting to get worried...

Here's another spin on this old car theme... I've had quite a few cars over the years and I liked them all 'cause I never would have bought them if I didn't... OK, some more than others.. So... every so often I get nostalgic and wonder where they all are now?? Restored??, a rolling total??, a Coors beer can??, sitting in some garage somewhere?? Anyone else think like that???

That... would be very serious.... :essen_018:

OK this is enough. @cowpuc 's last post was back on 7/15 and that was close to a month ago... I haven't had a call for an ice cream get together yet either. I wonder if he got waylayed in Sturgis?? Any one else talked to them lately??

Yep... I owned a '53 Chevy Suburban 3100 with a 235 straight 6 in it that had bad rod bearings.. Hey I bought it for $100 bucks, who was I to complain. So anyway I dropped the pan and was going to replace the rod bearings...only there weren't any. Poured bearings... So what I did was do a little red neck engineering, and using trial and error, filed the ends of the caps off until I got the right gap using 'plasti-guage' and buttoned her back up. Got rid of the rattle, still had a little oil pressure, and pulled my restored 1934 Gar Wood boat all over SoCal for a couple of years. They don't build 'm like they used to... :-) Not saying to do this to a V4, just sharing a memory... BTW I did the boat restoration, and wished I had both of 'm today... :-) Here's a pic of one like it... http://www.genevalakesboatshow.com/RegistrationUploads/DSC_7928_06DDYYYY1057394.JPG

Self tappers are a pita... I find that before putting one back in turn it counter clockwise until it clicks. Then turn it clockwise. This way you don't end up cutting another set of threads because the old and the self tapper threads mesh. This works with just about every threaded fastener and keeps them from cross threading...which is another pita... :-) Works really well when putting spark plugs in an aluminum head...

Here's the update. I went in this AM for the Angio-gram. I do have a block in one artery but they chose not to do the stint 'cause there's evidence of new vessels growing to by-pass the blockage. So it's keep up with the meds and monitor. So I'm OK. The wrist hurts like hell where they went in and I have to baby it for 3-4 days to give it time to heal. Thanks everyone for the thought and prayers....

83 Venture Rebuild/Restoration
Condor replied to Johnnycyclone's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I notice in one of the pics you mentioned using SS fasteners, and thought I'd mention to coat them with silicon before screwing them into the aluminum block. The silicon will prevent the dissimilar metals from the nobility scale from making contact and prevent galvanic corrosion in the future. -
Be patient they'll show.... If you have an MC salvage close by you might also try there. They probably don't even know what it is...

Thanks Guys.... Leaving the house in a couple of hours. Scheduled for 0900hrs PDT...1200hrs EDT... I'm a little apprehensive. Was more at ease before the colon surgery 6 years ago. Not sure if they're going to keep me overnight, or let me out later on this afternoon?? I was gonna say 'cut me loose' but thought better of it.... :-)

Nope, you're right on... Now go pull the outlet fuel line off the pump and see if you're getting fuel out of the pump when the pump is in that 5 sec cycle. IF nothing you probably have a clogged filter?? Basically the fuel flow goes from the tank petcock, to the filter, to the pump, and then to the carbs... MOF if you're not getting anything out of the tank you might have the Petcock stand filters inside the tank all plugged up?? Again these are all suggestions???

Here's a good video to enjoy Sturgis vicariously from 2017.
