  1. Welcome to the group Ouzo..... Nice pics of a nice bike... :cody
  2. Rode across Wyoming with GeorgeS a few years ago in 50-60 mph crosswinds, black micro-bursts, and 18 wheelers passing on the windward side going the other direction. The old '83 held the line pretty good, but George's eyes were really big when we stopped for fuel. I think it had something to do with the weight of the rider.. And... My spin on this is... with the frame mounted fairing of the 1stGens you don't end up fighting the effect of the wind as much as you do with the fork mounted 2ndGens. This is just theory since I haven't been in that situation with Miss Piggy yet....
  3. I've never owned a new bike in my life, but I do own an awful lot of new2me Ventures. I'll let someone else take the big hit on depreciation....
  4. There's nothing on the final that it could come from. It does look like the tension spring from a wheel bearing seal. Did you put new bearings in the rear wheel and maybe screw up the seal while prying it out?? I do all the time... After replacing the old seal the spring may have gotten stuck on some grease when putting the wheel back on and you didn't notice it???

    Scam????

I have a business account with Paypal, and have used it for money transfers for over 15 years from all over the world. Some up to $8,000, and many in the $2000-$3,000 range, without a problem. The trick is to qualify your buyer the best you can, and clear any questions that may arise before accepting the payment. Not to say that a problem can't arise, but I can't run around thinking about worst case scenarios. There isn't a system that doesn't have holes in it, and I can't hide my head in the sand in fear lest something might go wrong.....
  6. Congrats Larry. In November Nadine and I will be celebrating our 44th as well....
  7. This is what I came up with using a hybrid RAM mount. It should work on both the 1st and 2ndGen's because of the narrowness of the bar portion.
  8. Never put them on the '83 Thom. Sold the bike before I did. But I still have another 5 1stGens to go so finding another bike for them isn't going to be much of a problem. If you're looking for a set the season is starting to heat up and I bet there'll be a few listed on Ebay this summer. Just ask about the sight glass before bidding and be picky on the condition. That's what I did.
  9. That's not what I heard.... If you take a quick a look at my 'to-do' box pile you'd understand... Rain.. funky knees... no room in the garage....love affair with my Lazy-Boy... all have something to do with how full it is...
  10. Here ya go. The white cables are about 22" long and the black 'mic' cable is aprox 6'.
  11. Glad you're back Dan. Those 2ndGens, and a mild influx of GW's, have just about taken over this place.... WE need ya ta keep things in perspective....
  12. Annie, I know it's hard to deal with especially when it's close family, and it happens all too often. Prayer sent and tears shed....
  13. Ditto....
  14. In your case having one dropped on your doorstep for $20 bucks less, and getting it in 2 days, would have been a better deal. And what's with this core charge... O'Reilly needs to get their act together...
  15. Instead of Guest you could use 'DECORATION'..... :cody
  16. Ain't Son-in-Laws great. Mine just put new pads on the Suburban...
  17. Good thought. As long as the price is about the same, and there's an O'Rielly close by, that'd be the way to go.

  19. What did you end up paying for the Rielley's AGM?? We can order DEKA's from Bohannon, shipped free to your door for $85.00 bucks.... Curious what O'Rielly charges for the private label???
  20. My brother up in Kalispell MT just emailed me that it's snowing..... I emailed back that it's 74 degs and raining. He said that was TMI.....
  21. I use a computorized charger on all my AGM's and haven't had a problem. If they're really low it may take longer to charge, but so far... knock on wood... so good. MOF Odyssey sells a computor charger for big bucks. I have one in Cast-Aways inventory on consignment. Tested it once and I don't see any difference between it and the one I picked up from West Marine years ago...
  22. Did you know that the bolt 90109-10474-00 is still available through Yamaha. http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-90109-10474-00.html
  23. That's a great idea. I have plenty of coated life line cable available to make up a set.
  24. WOW!!!
  25. Is the U-Haul inclosed or open??
