    Thanks Vic. I went ahead and Emailed the guy that I'll take it, and I'll give him a call a little later this morning. He's about 10 miles from me. This'll help take the sting out of starting the service. Thanks for the help.

    There are companies that only deal in 'extended' warantees. I bought a used truck with an extended, and it was a PITA getting anything paid. If the policy was purchased thru a dealer when new, then the only place to get decent response is that dealer....

    Corbin did make an after market replacement, and I bet there's at least 3 or 4 more company's out there that do too. They are all nose bleed pricy. One thing to remember is if you find an OEM, make sure it's off a MKI. MKII's will not fit as the passenger seat is wider.

    There's a fellow locally who is selling a SPOT 1 for $45 bucks. Do I want it?? What are my options??? Need a little wisdom feedback.

    Always wear mine, even in states that don't require them. When I started riding in Ca. way back before MC licenses, and helmet laws, I never did, but now I just doesn't feel right without it.

    For some of you that have been following the saga of my V-Max final mod to fit the '99 it did have a happy ending.... sorta... For those that hadn't I bought a V-Max final listed in our classifieds from another member. It was represented as being off a 98 with 16,000 miles on it. Sounded good. After receiving it Pegscraper agree'd to bore the housing out to accept the speedo sensor. Upon inspecting the gears after the mod Lynn found them galled and in poor condition. I might add that there was no way of telling they were bad until the sensor hole had been drilled out, but the possibility of quickly burning up the gears was very probable. So I sent a PM to the member/seller and he admitted that the final had been purchased on Ebay a while ago and he was just repeating what he'd been told by the Ebay seller, and I can understand that he didn't know about the galling. So I Figured I'd just wasted a couple of hundred bucks and was unsure what I was going to do. I did have another V-Max final stashed away that I'd picked up off Ebay 3-4 years ago. I planned on installing on the '91. I didn't know it, but when I dug it out, it also had the flat sensor housing. This is where Pegscraper comes to the rescue. Lynn offer to do this one pro-bono to at least a little of the sting out of the money loss, and I am really grateful. I don't want to embarrass him, but he deserves a big thank you... I did email the seller of the first final, explaining that I knew it wasn't entirely his fault as he had no way of knowing about the galled gears, but the final was basically unusable, or iffy at best. It was not what he'd represented. Also when I sell something that I can't verify as being what was represented I guarantee it 100%. I also bought the final because it was from a member. Caveat Emptor. So far no response. BTW the second final turned out great.

    I'd never heard of that either, and my polishing guy just told me about it a couple of days ago..... Going to try it in the Suburban. It has a leak somewhere. Coolant keeps disappearing and nothing on the ground, no coolant in the oil, and no oil in the coolant. Got me baffled. Going to try the pepper....

    I got a little concerned too. His SPOT was getting hits like crazy and then nothing for quite a while. A big chunk of his journey turned up missing in action when I just checked again. Glad to hear he's enjoying a suds n Salmon....

    The problem with Amazon is they don't stock the items, and are nothing more than a go between, with the items coming from a third party vendor. They handle the financial, and because of that it's a PITA getting a refund for the item. They have no control over whats being sent matching the discription. I'd rather do biz with Ebay then Amazon. However my wife loves them...

    Yes they can be painted black. A couple of members have done so. They can also be stripped of the chrome and then buffed out. I'd recommend stripping which ever way you go as the chrome will continue to peal. De-chroming can be done by any chrome shop. Works much better than sanding... and easier too.... Attached are before and after pics.

    I'd give it a couple of more days. The last set I ordered from them after the take over didn't show up like they had in the past. You're covered by Paypal for the full amount, but sometimes when using a fund source other than your credit card it will take a couple of days for it to clear the paypal system on their end....

    NEP makes a throttle lock that comes in two halves and fits between the grip and start housing without removing the grip. The trouble is I believe NEP is out of biz, and the only place you can find them is on Ebay. I did buy one once that didn't seperate and understand your frustration... I just looked and here's a new one that looks promissing. 200610668833 There's even a link to a demonstration video.

    Thanks... The '99 came with a ton of aftermarket chrome, and not much room to add any more, so now I'm doing the hard2see pieces. Whoda thunk I'd be into bling???

    I bet you would,, The finish is polished aluminum. Had Britex take the anodising off and buff out the surface... I've done this to several aluminum items on the bike and it looks like chrome when done.

    I don't think the ABS glue's gonna work. I tried it and the ring is some sort of nylon. Bought another from my dealer...
