  1. I got a little concerned too. His SPOT was getting hits like crazy and then nothing for quite a while. A big chunk of his journey turned up missing in action when I just checked again. Glad to hear he's enjoying a suds n Salmon....
  2. Heck, I power washed the '93 when I first got it and it wouldn't start for a month....
  3. Another place you might want to look at is rear tire cupping due to low pressure???
  4. The problem with Amazon is they don't stock the items, and are nothing more than a go between, with the items coming from a third party vendor. They handle the financial, and because of that it's a PITA getting a refund for the item. They have no control over whats being sent matching the discription. I'd rather do biz with Ebay then Amazon. However my wife loves them...
  5. Yes they can be painted black. A couple of members have done so. They can also be stripped of the chrome and then buffed out. I'd recommend stripping which ever way you go as the chrome will continue to peal. De-chroming can be done by any chrome shop. Works much better than sanding... and easier too.... Attached are before and after pics.
  6. I'd give it a couple of more days. The last set I ordered from them after the take over didn't show up like they had in the past. You're covered by Paypal for the full amount, but sometimes when using a fund source other than your credit card it will take a couple of days for it to clear the paypal system on their end....
  7. NEP makes a throttle lock that comes in two halves and fits between the grip and start housing without removing the grip. The trouble is I believe NEP is out of biz, and the only place you can find them is on Ebay. I did buy one once that didn't seperate and understand your frustration... I just looked and here's a new one that looks promissing. 200610668833 There's even a link to a demonstration video.
  8. Scratch that.... I heard the Dildo from Wisconsin moved south to his Bro's casa en Mexico to learn how to deal with Habenero's...
  9. Thanks... The '99 came with a ton of aftermarket chrome, and not much room to add any more, so now I'm doing the hard2see pieces. Whoda thunk I'd be into bling???
  10. I bet you would,, The finish is polished aluminum. Had Britex take the anodising off and buff out the surface... I've done this to several aluminum items on the bike and it looks like chrome when done.
  11. I don't think the ABS glue's gonna work. I tried it and the ring is some sort of nylon. Bought another from my dealer...
  12. Yep Ride-On... Ride-On also has balancing properties...
  13. Dang, that's one nice looking scoot.....
  14. Yep, if they are Baron's Risers they just need to be removed. It's the stock cap screws that need to be used instead of the longer ones that came with the risers.
  15. Went to the link. Pretty cool. Have a great trip.....
  16. I'm curious if he tried to use CC's from any of the other folks in your group. You may want to check to make sure. Sounds like a scam to me....
  17. What I can't figure out is how a Canuck refugee in Wisconsin knows how to make good Chilli??.... Now, because the other guy from Ohio has Texas roots there might be a chance he hasn't forgotten what chilli is all about.. Either way I just hope they use good beef hearts when stirring the pots.... :stirthepot: This is going to be very interesting.
  18. I just got this set back from Britex. Going to have the caps done also. Takes him about 20 minutes so I'll run the caps over while installing.
  19. Yer lucky I'm not 40 years younger. She'd trip over me every time she turned around.....
  20. Send Steve (SGN) a PM and see if he still has any left.
  21. Yep... Ditto. Never happened again....

    long rides?

Pashnit is the 'other' board I frequent since it's sorta local, and Tim, the boards maker, has done several trips like that. One of his trips to Alaska and back was the one that got me interested in Ventures in the first place. A 1stGen was his bike on that trip. Since then, he's switched to the Suzuki Hyabusa's. Very talented writer and his stories are always enjoyable.
  23. But blue looks like it's going slower... It's the 'stelth' color...
  24. Did you know that Red makes the bike look like it's going 10mph faster than it actually is...
